Can I just tell you how much I appreciate you!! I am a follower of Jesus and just learning about herbs. It is so nice to find someone who also loves Jesus and herbs.
Growing Tulsi in the garden is such a joy. I got one plant and it has reseeded itself for years. Walking through the garden as the aroma wafts through the air is devine!!
hello! how do you use it as a hot tea? do you boil the leaves with a regular tea bag or...? would love to know. I have the actual plant and I'm curious how i can use the leaves.
Hi there i use capsules 1 3 times a day for anxiety is it normal to feel shaky and hearpulpitation ive been usimg it for 12 days now maybe my body needs to get used to it
Holy Basil is in my top 5 favorites! I have a beautiful holy basil plant I started indoors this summer and I cherish it everyday. I take it in tinctures, teas, capsules and I eat a leaf everyday :) it calms my soul. I feel so connected to it.
I first heard about this plant from a co worker who’s married to a woman from Thailand who was kind enough to share some seeds, it grows so nicely here in Southern California, I love it for tea and the best way I like to have it is I mixed with my homemade kombucha for flavor, it’s one of my favorite way to consume it, the flavor is so unique, thanks
Started the video feeling so envious of the PNW and how big and gorgeous nasturtiums get out there. Ended the video realizing that the ability to grow giant beds of tulsi is not to be taken for granted! I had a 12’x4’ tomato bed filled with tulsi last 2 years. Tomatoes and Tulsi are wonderful companions. Im also blessed to be able to hang dry in spite of the humidity here in the Kansas City area. Mostly used it for tea for stress and migraine or feeling like Im coming down with something but I didn’t know it’s good for asthma, arthritis, eye problems and so on! All of which I suffer from. But also didn’t know about the clotting issues. I need to look into that one because a platelet issue and lack of a specific IgA is what causes ALL my other problems. 🤔 Maybe that’s why I only desire it when I am stressed or having a migraine. If we listen to our bodies- they tell us!
That is the thing is that no matter where we are, there is always something that will do quite well for us that will make up for the things that do not :)
Last year I planted Holy Basil in my boat garden and it took over the entire garden. I love the herb in my tea blends, but had to dig it out or the garden. It now grows wild at the back of our property in a sandy shaded location.
This is my new favorite tea and I hope everyone gives it a try. I bought it as a box of tea bags from my health food store to try before ordering a full pound of it dried and now it's out of stock. Definitely going to grow it if I find the seeds.
This year i ordered 4 different types of holy basil plants (live plants) from Etsy sellers. Each variety is a little different. I plan to mix them all together as I dry them. They are amazing and wonderful plants! And so delicious!
I LOVE Holy Basil, and I am not a fan of "regular" basil. I walk by my plants multiple times a day, and grab a leaf, or two, every time I walk by. Their scent is so amazing, too! I love walking out of the door and smelling them.
I have a Tulsi tincture infusing that's almost ready. I've been growing Tulsi for a few years and love it's unique scent and flavor. I also bring at least one plant inside for winter enjoyment. Thanks Heidi ❤️
I grew it this year and it’s dropped it seeds in the surrounding pots and now it’s everywhere 😄 It’s wonderful as an iced tea with some raw honey. I did dry some for tea over the winter.
In our area we use it in soup. Especially in fish soup. It gives the soup so much more taste and in fish soup it tone down the fishy tast. And use cold tea to gorgel the troath when having soar troath. It smooths your troath and cure it
I add a few leaves in my fruit smoothies...seriously soo good!! i like it so much i am making a tincture with holy basil and lemon balm! should be a good one!
I've been buying a tincture from a herbalist for the last couple of years and taking it as a respiratory support . I had not thought of growing it until recently. I just ordered some seeds from Baker seeds. We had such a hot and dry summer here in central Texas this year that not much survived. Hoping for better weather next year.
I grew it this year for the first time, and it took off like a weed!! So very grateful for it! I will be dehydrating it today now that I have seen your video. Thanks for all of the great information. I find it does have a different taste/flavor than the typical garden basil, but is a refreshing little bit to chew on while working in the garden.
This is my first year growing tulsi and I am such a great fan. I love it’s medicinal uses and I have also added it to salads as I also do with lemon balm.
My great grandma used it for sweeping over our bodies when we got scared or evil eye she was a healer people from all over would come see her to heal them. I learned how to do it and use it for my kids and grandkids .
Thanks to you, Heidi, I've heard of Holy Basil and have a bunch of it in the garden. This year I really took the time to put in many 'new to me' herbs, and boy have I learned a lot. I'm having a ball making tinctures, etc., since we now have elderberries, too. Also, LOL, we've been getting some pretty chilly nights lately (early September here in NY state), so I just put the Excalibur in the bedroom and dehydrate overnight, filling my bedroom with aromatic air, and adding a bit of warmth from the 105-degree air blowing out. Also, because of your wisdom, I've been making my own moisturizer for a couple years now, and saving a ton of money, plus the satisfaction of having particularly unique Christmas gifts - win-win!
Mercy I do love holy basil and just this year decided to grow it hearing all of its wonderful benefits…the SMELL IS AMAZING…SOOOOO SWEET. I use it throughout the day in the summer as a landscape gardener.I just harvested ONE PLANT yesterday for the freeze dryer and it took up more than half of a six by four raised bed…getting ready to set seeds so this will probably be my last harvest …flavor is totally different from what you can buy almost spicy like baking spices…LOVE IT ! As always Heidi thank you for all of your research and time and energy..stay blessed
My hubby and I drink organic India holy basil tea different varieties. We love it! It is indeed helpful. Growing it would be great. I’ll have to try that. Thanks for the info as always! 😁
An Indian naturopath recommended it to me fr blood pressure. A tea combined with mint and coriander leaves. I replaced cor with sage and drink it in the evening and morning. Sage is also good for the mouth. I just got my first plant a few weeks ago so I don’t yet have enough for tea every night.
Funny this morning I was watching someone else speak of the benefits of holy basil and now you are speaking on the same. I grew it and didnt do much with it. now , I will use it if bless to grow it again. Sometimes we just take things God give us for granted.
I’m in CT, and a lovely lady running an Indian store started some tulsi plants and brought them in to sell. She educated me on the benefits of tulsi. She says they eat several leaves in the morning right off the plant and make teas from the leaves. Also, if you have an Indian store in your area, I would recommend visiting it for their many herbs, oils, grains, and seeds, ghee, and all around healthy natural food offerings at good prices.
Thank you Heidi! And thank you Gurty for the smile!☺️ I did used it for pesto last year. It was ok but I still like it best for tea. This is another one that did really well in my garden last year but struggled this year. It was the exact opposite between the Tulsi and Genovese.🥴 I'll still replant next year. Adventures in gardening!☺️ Love and blessings!💜
Just bought some dried to try and found your video. I will be making this tea daily! It is so delicious and I have several things that need to be addressed but primarily have severe asthma so hoping it helps my bronchial health.
I've finally gotten some to grow this summer. It wasn't the easiest herb to get to grow! Thank you for all the info...gonna try to get more growing so I can dry some!
That's interesting. Counting my blessings as Tulsi grows much easier for me than other basils. In my experience, it's much less susceptible to stem rot and actually gets droopy during dry spells when my other basils still look fine.

I'm like you, I like All BASIL, especially in Thai Food. I just recently completed taking HOLY BASIL Capsules, for the First. I tend to Alternate Monthly, as they last, with various Supplements, I use Dr. Mercola Fermented BLACK GARLIC, Every Other Month, and I'm Starting to do this with, TULSI, now. I have this plant pot. I thought it's a kind of grass but amazed of its strong fragrance so I kept not thrown it instead. So I used it as table flower cuts center for it's nice fragrance. When your video pop up my screen cp, I run out now at our veranda and compare the plant exactly the same. Thanks up Above, it's really is a holy basil or Tulsi, you call, the name of the plant.
🌞Good morning Heidi thanks for sharing with everyone I love the wonderful fragrance of Basil 🍃 and I love hearing your 🐓🐓🐓talking it sounds like she is trying to tell you something.
Hey!! I had once used the powder of Dry Holy Basil Leaves in Pasta in place of Normal Basil Leaves. It tastes good. Also, My Mother uses Tulsi leaves while making "Khichdi" During Winters in India. It tastes yumm!! 😅
I grow it solely to use in pad kra pao. Famous breakfast dish from Thailand. Any recipe requires you to use alot of it tho so you kind of need to plan ahead and grow it in bulk if you want the plants left
I tried growing holy basil this year and I have so much of it. My husband and I don’t however like the smell of it and my eyes and nose itch when I am near it.
we stir fired holy basil with ground pork or any type of protein over rice which is very popular thai meal you can find it every street food in Thailand never used as tea though thank you for the information
Why do you think your basils all do better in the greenhouses? Longer growing season? Loves the heat? Less fungal? Holy basil is my daily afternoon tea. Thank you Heidi for another informative video.
I started some from seed this year. It's still really tiny though. I almost didn't think I was going to be successful. This is the 2nd try this year. I seeded some inside about February ish. That didn't come up. Then after last frost. I just got some sprouts this past week. A few. So I'm hoping to be swimming in it soon. It was difficult for me and also rosemary and lavender. I'm on the 3rd try with rosemary. About to try again with lavender. I've got a few sprouts of lavender but I wanted more. I didn't realize you had to cold stratify them.....not Tulsi. Lavender....I seeded in a solo cup then I seen somewhere it needed cold stratifying.... So I put plastic wrap around it right away and stuck it in the back of the fridge. I was afraid I had already screwed it up by putting it in dirt and watering 1st but then I thought....well.... It should be fine ... That's how it happens in nature anyways. 🤷♀️ Apparently it worked. Praying God bless my plant babies.
Thank you for this information. I need to find seeds for holy basil. I’m growing 2 basils, one is Genovese and I’m not sure what the other is, it came in a 6 pk without a label, so it may be the same, but it’s smaller leafed. Many Blessings!!
Adaptogen:- Adaptogens increase the state of non-specific resistance in stress and decrease sensitivity to stressors, which results in stress protection, and prolong the phase of resistance (stimulatory effect). Instead of exhaustion, a higher level of equilibrium (the homeostasis) is attained the heterostasis.

Tulsi ,teasam and fever grass the best of herbs tea to drink
🌞Good morning Heidi thanks for sharing with everyone I love the wonderful fragrance of Basil 🍃 and I love hearing your 🐓🐓🐓talking it sounds like she is trying to tell you something.

Love my holy basil in my Thai food.
Hey!! I had once used the powder of Dry Holy Basil Leaves in Pasta in place of Normal Basil Leaves. It tastes good. Also, My Mother uses Tulsi leaves while making "Khichdi" During Winters in India. It tastes yumm!! 😅
God bless you richly ❤❤❤
I grow holy Basil and use it as a tea. It is soothing to my mouth which becomes irritated due to Lupus
I grow it solely to use in pad kra pao. Famous breakfast dish from Thailand. Any recipe requires you to use alot of it tho so you kind of need to plan ahead and grow it in bulk if you want the plants left
I am considering using holy basil as a tea to aid in lowering blood pressure
I tried growing holy basil this year and I have so much of it.
My husband and I don’t however like the smell of it and my eyes and nose itch when I am near it.
we stir fired holy basil with ground pork or any type of protein over rice which is very popular thai meal you can find it every street food in Thailand
never used as tea though
thank you for the information
Thanks Heidi 😊
Why do you think your basils all do better in the greenhouses? Longer growing season? Loves the heat? Less fungal? Holy basil is my daily afternoon tea. Thank you Heidi for another informative video.
Because they prefer more heat than we get here, especially lately with each spring and summer for the past few years getting colder for us

@RainCountryHomestead where is the best place to purchase dried holy basil?
I get mine online at Mountain Rose Herbs.@@sandyirby727
I get the Genovese and Emily mixed up often so now I am not really sure which one I am growing anymore but I know one has wider leaves than the other
Great video
Thank you for sharing this video i ask if the flower i can use of tea also
O yes, you can use the flower too. :)
What's the best way to use it? And there's a few Holy basils, which one do you use?
Hello thank you for this video. Can you tell me which Tulsi plant is considered holy basil?
