A one off group (mostly because Steve Hackett didn't want to be bound to a group) that had two outstanding guitarists from Genesis(Steve Hackett) and Yes(Steve Howe). Great song with so many twists and turns that make it so memorable.
Mock them if you like. Having Steve Howe and Steve Hackett on the same stage, (or solo in their solos) was something special. It was a thing, very briefly, and then it was not. (you had to be there)
This was the peak for both Genesis and its former and current members' solo works. Steve Hackett, one of the guitarists here, was formerly the guitarist for Genesis. Peter Gabriel, their former lead singer, was topping the charts. Guitarist/bassist Mike Rutherford was topping the charts with his Mike + the Mechanics project; and, of course, Phil Collins was coming off of his monster chart-topper No Jacket Required. Oh yeah, the band itself was having mega-success with their Invisible Touch album. Here Genesis with all of these members in the group at once in the song 'Firth of Fifth.' (The official studio version is probably the best of them.)
Speaking of Genesis, it's weirdly fitting (and also sad) that the odd one out is keyboardist Tony Banks when it comes to solo success - no matter how hard he tried, he just couldn't break the charts on his own unlike his bandmates.
A relic of another age, lost and no longer appreciated for what it was. Sooo gnarley, bro! Don Johnson Miami Vice outfits...look at the guitarist' fingers! They're 5, 6 inches long! It was a different age. We all had our heroes. What kind of channel is this?! I like it. 😊

Steve Howe of Asia/Yes and Steve Hackett of Genesis, what’s not to like!!!!!
And Geoff Downes on production and song writing.

A deep dive gets us a relatively unknown 80's gem.
