      Kelvin, what is the part number to the 3 tiny screws that hold in the IACV to the housing on the first generation Idle Air Control Valve, I lost them whilst at the junkyard. Currently I'm changing my 2nd generation (Non-Rebuildable IACV) to the 1st generation IACV but I happened to drop the bolts on my way out of the yard..

      Cool as. My first one had copyright due to the radio playing in the background. Ive got a second video on my list focusing on the later one which is a bit trickier to pull apart. I've done 4 IAC rebuilds this week. Cheers.

      @@dyllan1195 With a stock vehicle I would be replacing the idle up valve. They are much nicer when they are in place. Plenty of other Toyota's run them. On conversions I often delete but ones like a offroad 4x4 with auto I will run them where possible. Older celsior can be lovely cars when well looked after.

      Its the air supply to the tappet cover. No longer available so we use a piece of universal oil resistant hose.

    On that 95lexus sc400 you told me use some epoxy compound on front of hydraulic fan motor solenoid that the plastic rubber came off what I wanted to ask is a lot of sticky oil came out of it am going to have to worry bout that I'm going to seal it up with the epoxy soon thanks

    I have an SC400 with the "non-rebuildable" IACV, if I wanted to clean it would I need to disassemble the whole unit or is there a way I can just take the the black cover off the front?

      Kelvin, I have a 96 SC400 and I'm wanting to do the coolant bypass. Please tell me, do I remove the pressed tubes on the stepper and if so, how do I seal the holes? Also, is it safe just to run a hose loop from each water Port at the back of the intake? Thanks!

    Great info! One of my 1UZ engines sometimes idles low for the first 15 minutes. I cleaned the throttle body and it helped the cold idle but didn't completely fix the warm idle. After the car is driven for half hour its fine though.

      Its a stock 1998 Lexus GS400 1UZ VVT. I think I need to check for air leaks, the hoses are all hard.

      @@billygreenhorn9275 Air leaks is a good start. Monitoring the live data can help. If you have large fuel trims then that could mean an air leak. We also see dirty throttle bodies and a build up of oil in the intake. It's not normally a sign of any other issue. Clean and continue. Also checking the AVIS is switching.

      Yes, they interchange however the inlet hoses are different sized between the two units which needs to be resolved to swap them. Cheers Kelvin

    Hi Kelvin. Ucf20. What does it mean for the 'unrebuildable' icv when I drill the blind holes and there are no roller pins inside. And the plastic cover is tough as balls to pry off

      I'd suggest you might be doing something wrong as they always have roll pins.

    Hi kelvin can you make a video on idle up valve installation from the intake manifold vacuum hose with a switch from the driver dash were I can flick a switch to raise the idle to warm her up then switch off wen warm.

      Hello. Does your vehicle not have a proper idle control system? I prefer to set up correct idle up but doing as you suggested is not hard. I prepared another vehicle recently for such a setup for the winch idle up. Cheers

    Using the 2nd part of this video I just pulled apart a JZ/Sealed unit which is apparently non-rebuildable, and what do you know - it comes apart! Myth busted. Thanks for the vid 😊

      Id start by finding where the extra air is getting into the engine, most likely by clamping the iac tube.

    Kelvin, great vid...my issue is the car got wet (blown stat housing) and then the idle started going crazy, 1000 to 2100 every second like a watch. Just revs up and then goes down, revs up and goes down and its a fast wind up like someone is hitting the gas...IAC rebuild?

    I just stubbled upon the difference of these two IAC units. I purchased an early 1UZ that was missing its IAC unit. I found another today but its from a 1995 LS400. It looks like it would bolt right up, are they interchangeable?

      Depends where you live. If its not too cold then no issue removing the water lines from the IAC. I get the bearings from my cupboard, not sure where you would get yours but I would suggest a shop that sells bearings is a good start. Cheers Kelvin

      Just a not, both are rebuildable, and yes interchange provided the difference in inlet tube size is addressed

    Hello, very useful video! I rebuilt my unit and now the car is seemingly stuck in reset loop. It does the throttle cycling but never stops. What can I do to correct it?
    Edit: meant to comment this on the IACV reset video

      If its wired and the IAC is healthy then the ecu should self reset after a starts and turning the engine off of 10 seconds between restarts. Cheers Kelvin

      You did watch the video to see the non rebuildable one get rebuilt though didn't you? It's much better to stick with the correct unit due to the resistance difference between the units however they can be interchanged. Cheers

    Hi mate your videos are great and really helpful I've got a issue with my 1uz I just finish fitting headers over summer put everything back together and now it idles at 2200rpm I did the reco on the aicv but still no change have checked all connections and checked for air leaks any ideas mate any help would be appreciated

      I would check the TPS is set correctly , ideally using a scan tool to confirm both the throttle plate angle is at 0% and the Idle switch is on although doing it by just setting the idle switch is often ok at a pinch. I'd confirm where the additional air is entering the engine and work from there. Cheers Kelvin

    I just inherited a 2001 GS430 that my father bought new he's now diseased he kept records of every oil change every 3000 miles it now has 153000 miles it still runs very good very fast .
    It has never had the check engine light come on the only problem was the idle which got faster a mechanic he took it to changed the air sensor on the air box where the air filter is located trying to solve the problem he took it to where he bought the car new they said with out a check engine light they couldn't fix it since I started driving it every day to work because of my nissan d21 KA24E breaking down that's a totally different issue anyway the check engine light came on for the first time started watching your channel very interesting I'm a mechanic but on heavy equipment not on motors but on everything else hydraulics and so on .
    I know the timing belts have never been changed sounds like a slight exhaust leak would appreciate if you could give some tips about those issues I live here in California and the car was purchased here . 3UZ VVT I
    Lexus GS430 .

      Hello Bryan. GS430 are lovely cars. First thing is the check the code as thats indicating an issue. Mechanics need to also learn to read live data and understand it. There is so much more to diagnostics than codes. Exhaust leaks can lead to oxygen sensor faults or poor reading causing running issues too. Its due for its belt change so perfect opportunity to give it some more love an check it over. Cheers Kelvin

      To reset start the engine, and then turn off the key for 10 seconds and do again until the idle settles. Cheers Kelvin
