ok....You literally saved my marriage. 3:29 seconds into the video...you showing the sensors on the inside of the grounds full door....I unblocked it...BOOM! It works again after about half an hour of my husband and I both trying one useless attempt after another. THANK YOU!!!
Kath , to call the Saeco "needy" is like calling Damien from The Exorcist Movie mischievous. The model is very aptly named the Odea as that is the exclamation that is generally made every time you turn it on.
My Odea just traveled from Germany to the US and is running on a step up transformer. Just descaled and cleaned everything and have the following issue: If I turn the dial for the cup size past 1 o'clock (ish), it throws a solid red exclamation mark right after grinding the beans. Smaller cups work fine and it doesn't seem related to the bean setting at all. Any ideas what this might be caused by?
Hi, what does it mean when the red ! light is flashing but when I try to prime the water with the knob on the top , nothing happens , no water comes out. I checked water level I emptied the waste checked all the doors and magnets, and still nothing. Any suggestions ? Thanks,
OMG watched your other video using test mode and found no problems. As soon as I watched this I found out one of my door magnets was dirty and presto it worked again. Thank you Thank you.
i have sent my machine in several times for repairs to resolve major issues that prevented the machine from brewing completely but each time they have failed to fix a secondary issue i have where the steam does not always work. I would say about 99% of the time when i turn then steam knob nothing happens making a typical 45 minutes descaling process to last several days turning the knob back and forth. Anything thoughts on what it could be?
Hi folks. Hopefully you are still online and available for Odea Giro issues. I have appreciated the helpful tips for the Saeco Odea Giro thus far. I have the exact same unit as in the video. My Odea Giro on occasion will turn off without a prompt of the power button. The odd thing is, when I depress the power button to turn it back on again, it doesn’t turn on. However, when I rapidly and repeatedly press the power button approximately 10-12 times, the unit powers back on again. This has happened roughly 5 times over the past month or so. Any thoughts to what may be causing this issue? Thanks again for the help. Rob
Hi! I have a Saeco Odea Go that has a problem. But I don't know what it is. Can you help me? I have the top and the bottom lights flashing nonstop. I have cleaned the brew and everything I can get my hands. What seems to be the problem?
Hello, I have a problem with my machine talea ring plus , code error 1 I can make the ground coffee, but when I ask coffee in grains, the error code appear. I have clean the disposer and replace the engine with a functional one and still the same code, have you an idea for me, thank, i m french, SO Maybe my english writting is not perfect
Seattle Coffee Gear, please help me! I'm having problems with my Odea, which I really love despite its neediness. It is leaking fresh coffee out the bottom. It grinds as usual, then as it pours it seems that there isn't much coming out and it mostly just drips. When I checked the brew group drip tray I noticed that this is where most of my fresh coffee was. I'm not sure if this is a problem I can fix myself, or if I have to see someone about it.
Hi Matt. I have a serious issue. I have completed a descale on my machine, which I have done a number of times in the past. This time however, after getting the green light and preparing to make my first coffee, the the machine starts to go through the process, but then does not grind then the regular noise fades out, there is a loud pop and then everything stops and the red light comes on flashing fast. This has happened in the past and has cost me close to $400 each time to fix. I figure this is something that I could be able to fix myself as it seems to take them no time at all. The primer unit according the repairer has been replaced each time? I have searched the net for assistance, but to no avail. The machine is a Odea Giro and I do love him, but he's costing me financially, emotionally, and spiritually. Please, if you have any idea on what this is, could you please let me know. Cheers from a desperate Aussie.
Hi, I have the same machine... the steamer stopped working! I got to ''bang'' on the top of the knob several times before it works... but, the issue is on going... anyway to fix this issue? TIA...
So I’m now just finding this video. I just recently just changed the gear kit . well, atleast the large one with the nob that I assume turns the brew thingy. I think I aligned it correctly so it will activate that switch I’m not sure what the switch does. Anyways now after goes thru the grinding and I hear it try stamp the grounds water runs but it drains into the water waste and no water is filtered thru also the no puck happens I’m guessing bc the water doesn’t flow thru so there’s grounds everywhere sometimes the puck ends up where the water waste drains to. The lights I get is flashes between the grounds light at top and the boiler light and then stops. Is that switch not getting activated? For the brew grouping to work properly? How can I fix that? Do I need to readjust the gears?
Hello!I have a Saeco Odea Go machine and i have a problem when i start the machine. The machine don't doing that cleaning cycle when its starts.I have to open the steam do eliminate the the water and the its perfect.Coffe is good and its working fine. The problem is only when its starts and have to eliminate the water at the startup. Can you please help me to resolve this problem?Thank you!!
Hey guys, what can it be when Odea doesn't "take it" when I select the 3 coffee beans, I'm only able to use mine with 1, if I put 2 or 3 it flashes all the lights very quickly and dispenses the ground, dry coffee away , I already changed the group's engine thinking that it had lost power and could not "press" all the coffee. Thanks
Hi Brendan! I have tried all test modes and everything seems to work fine. However my machine still wont brew any coffee, there is no response what so ever. I do not know what to do next?
Hi, I have a problem with my Odea Giro Plus. The red light is rapidly flashing, so I prime the water circuit. However, after doing this numerous times, the red light continues to flash. Sometimes, the descale and dredge bin indicators will alternate flashing after I have primed the water circuit a few times. Also, after priming for a while, the machine will appear to go back to normal but only brew one cup of coffee or start to brew one cup of coffee and then return to the rapid flashing exclamation point. What are your thoughts based on this description? Thanks!
Hello Emily Kowalski. Generally, when you're able to clear the prime message, and you're getting a steady stream of water through the machine, if during brewing, you then get the prime message, it usually means that the grind setting is too fine for the beans and machine combination. I would definitely suggest to go probably 2 notches coarser, then brew 4 times to clear through the mixture of the old and new grind settings, so that you are 100% on the new setting. Also I'd make sure your beans aren't too oily as that can clog the machine as well. Also weekly cleaning of the brew unit and screen helps a lot. Take a look here: www.seattlecoffeegear.com/learn/videos-home/ask-the-experts/saeco-superauto-brew-group-tips. If these suggestions don't take care of the issue, then it would probably be best to get bring in your machine to a repair center. :)
I've got a problem with my girl plus. The steamer no longer works. Tried to clean out wand. No go. No sounds from unit, either. Tried descaling. Hear steaming sounds but water will not pass through wand, but leaks internally near brew group. Is it a clog or malfunctioning unit. Thanks for any help!
Your tip may be clogged, mine did the same thing, needed to stick a pin up the nozzle to get it to work. It's tricky with the wand on. Hope this helps.
Hi Ines Pereira! If the descale light and the dump box light are flashing, then that means that you have either a grinder or brew unit jam. If when you turn on the machine it tries to cycle the brew unit and then gives you those alternating lights, it is likely the brew unit or the gear of the brew unit on the machine. On the other hand, if the machine cycles the brew unit, warms up, looks like it’s ready to brew and then when you press the brew button and the grinder begins- then you get those lights, it’s the grinder. Unfortunately though this might help to diagnosis what your issue is, neither of these problems are really fixable at home. Saeco can give you a list of repair centers at 800-933-7876, or we can set up a repair order for you to ship it in here through www.seattlecoffeegear.com/service/repairs. Sorry I can’t be of greater assistance on this for you! - Teri
I have the same machine (except it's called a GiroPlus, maybe the Japanese version or something) and got this error this morning and this is literally the only explanation I could find on the internet. Looks like it's back to the V60 for a while (not that this is necessarily a bad thing.) ;)
Hello, I really appreciate if you can help me with some issues that I am facing with my Odea-Giro, with descaling alarm. I went through all process to descaling, which I supposed it was automatic, and the problem is it never ends, I have refilled the water container more than 6 times, used to bottles of descaling solution and the alarm is still on. How can I have my machine back on duty? Many thanks if you can help me, Sam
so with the Odea line, you just have to push and hold the water droplet button, and after several seconds (just keep holding) the descaling light will go off. Once the light goes off, you can let go, and you’re all set! The descaling light is a constant reminder, by holding down the water droplet button, you are resetting the counter. - Miranda
Hi, please i need help, my saeco philips xsmall dripping coffee very little, drops only had to wait longer than usual for a cup coffee but today it doesnt get out at all, not even a drop! The coffee is grinded ans it gets thrown away as dry grinded coffee not watery as usually, please help me with this!
Hello I've got a problem with my Saeco Odea Giro Plus: Red exclamation point flashes very quickly and nothing help . I tried already test mode, all sensors and pump. Please help me .
Hi Seattle from Spain. I have both lights descaling and alarm flashing slowly. I try to reset the descaling pressing the steam button for 10 seconds and the lights don't turn off. When I turn the steam valve the steam goes out for the tube but I can't switch to the hot water pressing the button. In test mode all the functions work OK. Can you help me. Thanks a lot
Hi Oscar T. Generally, the descale light and the exclamation light will not be on at the same time. This tends to indicate that the machine is in need of something, or thinks that a door/drawer is open. I would first attempt to clear the exclamation light, then consider descaling or resetting the descale light once the exclamation light has disappeared. To clear the exclamation light, you'll want to take all of the pieces out of the machine (water tank, dump box, brew unit, and bean hopper lid), and make sure that the water tank is turned to the neutral, closed position (9 o'clock), then wait for 30 seconds for the machine to reset all of the sensors. When you re-insert the pieces one at a time, you also want to be sure that the water tank is full. When the pieces are back in place, that exclamation light should clear, or you may need to reprime the machine at that point, making sure that the steam light is not lit, then turning open the steam knob, at which point hopefully you'll get a steady stream of water. Then, you should be able to clear the descaling light, once the exclamation light has been cleared.
My red light if flashing rapidly, indicating the need to prime the pump. I keep doing that, but when I make coffee, it is simply not coming out of the spouts, or whatever you call those two holes. I tried cleaning the brew group, setting it to less fine grind, changing coffee to less oily one, and still nothing......any suggestions?
It's hard to tell what could be going wrong with your machine from your description. I would check the Brew Unit Outlet (what the Brew Unit connects to when in the machine) and make sure that is intact. The Brew Unit Outlet has a tendency to break if the Brew Unit is inserted incorrectly. If you can not find the cause of your issue, I would recommend taking your machine to a Saeco Certified Service Center. - Brendan
Hi there! I have the Exclamation mark blinking rapidly and the water drop sign is still, I tried to descale several times and it still gives me that everytime I start it.
With a fast blinking exclamation light, it generally means that either the machine needs water, or it just needs to be primed. Pull water through the steam wand. - Miranda
To cover all your bases, the best thing is to take out the different pieces, water tank, dump box, brew unit, and bean hopper lid. Wait 30 seconds, then reinsert each piece one at a time, firmly. Then reprime, and that should take care of it!
Hi - Great Video - I have a unique problem - a solid red line not related to a water level issue. I have to lift the coffee bean cover off and put it back - then the light goes out...more importantly this happens after a failed cycle - the coffee grinds, I hear the work group move and it dumps the coffee grounds into the dredge group, followed by a solid red line. I lift the cover - replace it and try again it may or may not work. I repeat until it cycles through properly. Any ideas as to the problem? Thanks - great videos Pete
Andrei Cosmin Mocanu & Peter Gustaitis, This could mean several things: If the coffee pucks being dumped are too dry, then your grind may be too course. If the coffee pucks being dumped are too wet, then your grind may be too fine. Is your machine pulling a shot at all, or just dumping the puck without producing any espresso? - Sarah
Seattle Coffee Gear Thank you for your promp answer. So, my machine is a Saeco Odea Black Giro Plus, and it started with this problem just after I washed the brewing group. When I turn it on, it grinds the coffee and then just dumps the grinded coffee without anything else, and the red exclamation mark lights on. After I remove the lid from the coffee container and push manualy the beans into the grinder, it grindes the coffee normaly and makes the espresso. I hope my explanations suffice for you to give me a reason why it's doing this. Thank you kindly, Andrei
Andrei Cosmin Mocanu Are the beans you are using shiny/oily, or do they have a matte finish? It sounds like the unit is having trouble pulling beans into the grinder which can happen if the roast is dark and shiny/oily. You might want to experiment with a slightly coarser grind setting (one or two dots larger), and brew about 3 - 4 cups for the new grind setting to be in full effect. You may also want to switch beans if the finish of your current bean is shiny with lost of surface oils. If making these changes does not help, then you may need to bring the machine into a Saeco authorized service center for a look. - Sarah
Thank you Sarah. My grinder has three steps, and it was set at the largest one. So, yesterday I fixed it to it's finest one, and so far it works fine. I hope this was the problem. Thank you verry much, and have a nice day. Andrei
A fast blinking exclamation light means that the machine wants to be primed. Pull water out of the steam wand by turning the knob on top when the machine can produce water. This means, if you have the water droplet button next to the brew button, that it is illuminated, and if instead it is the steam symbol, that this button is not lit. After you pull a few ounces of water out of the steam wand, it should stop blinking like that. - Miranda
I did all of the tests and my machine seems to pass all of the tests. However, when I try to grind the coffee, everything works until the very end, the dispensing part. It sounds like it is clogged or something. Nothing will come out of the mouth.
My Odeo Go seems to cycle through perfectly, until reading to press button for the coffee making and nothing happens once the button is pressed. No sounds whatsoever
Hello nguyên khôi lê, When that exclamation light is flashing rapidly, you'll want to prime the machine by turning the steam knob open. This will engage the pump and direct a stream of water through the steam wand. You'll want to pull a steady stream of water through to clear the flashing light. - Haley
@@SeattleCoffeeGear Hi there, what do you mean by pull a steady stream of water through? I turned my stream knob open and the motor started, but nothing happened and the light was still flashing rapidly. Please help.
Hello Amelie Gregoire Grenier, The coffee and descale lights indicate a grinder or a brew unit clog. You can try to move the grind setting to the largest dots for the coarsest setting. You can also clear out any beans/grounds in the grinder chute above the brew unit and in the grinder with something like canned air and perhaps by vacuuming them as well. It will take about 3-4 cups for the new grind setting to be in full effect, and hopefully push through the clog. You can then adjust the grind back down to the middle setting once the clog is clear, but remember that moving to a finer setting should only be done with the grinder running. You may also benefit from deep cleaning the brew unit at the video below: SCG Tech Tip: Saeco Superautomatic Brew Unit Disassembly Hopefully this does it, but if not, you may need to bring it in to a service center for a further look. - Teri
First explanation worked perfectly. Kind of. So... when my knob was fully closed it was not working. I ooened it, poured some water, and closed it bit by bit untillthe error was gone.
Thank you very much for this video. I watched a few of them already and they are very well detailed and more importantly, dummy proof!!! It solved my problem (those damn magnets...). Cheers
I had a quickly flashing exclamation point warning, which meant I had to prime it by running the steamer for a few seconds. I gotta say that it took me well over 10 minutes to figure out the problem and to brew a cup of coffee in the morning this is simply BAD DESIGN. I’ve never seen such an unnecessarily complicated coffee machine. Brews decent coffee, but you’ll never have this problem with a Keurig.
greeting to increase during milling in saeco clothing go, milled about 5 seconds until I have another who grinds 8 seconds saeco clothing has not an option for the amount of coffee you will grind as giro other models saeco models thank you very much
ok....You literally saved my marriage. 3:29 seconds into the video...you showing the sensors on the inside of the grounds full door....I unblocked it...BOOM! It works again after about half an hour of my husband and I both trying one useless attempt after another. THANK YOU!!!
Thank you for this video. Everytime I have a problem with my Odea, I come back to this video and it has always helped me.
What about a really fast flashing light ?
What about a fast blinking light that from what I can find is the water primer. Thoughts?
This should be in the manual! Thank you so much! Your video is still useful in 2021.

Hi Ines Pereira! If the descale light and the dump box light are flashing, then that means that you have either a grinder or brew unit jam.

It's hard to tell what could be going wrong with your machine from your description.
Thx a lot! The machine remained without water and I had to prime.
I have also this problem. Can anyone help us with some advices?
Thank you!
Andrei Cosmin Mocanu & Peter Gustaitis, This could mean several things:
If the coffee pucks being dumped are too dry, then your grind may be too course.
If the coffee pucks being dumped are too wet, then your grind may be too fine.
Is your machine pulling a shot at all, or just dumping the puck without producing any espresso?

Thank you for your promp answer.
Thank you kindly,
Andrei
Andrei
hello
i have the red light flashing fast , not like the water is missing any idea?
Iv got solid red and green light I've tried everything what do ido
hi i have problem with bottom symbol he dont stop blinking pls help me :)
how to fix when both the descaling and dredgedrawer lights are both flashing quickly
my power doesn't turn on what happened before there was the red and green light on than it didn't want to power on what to do
How about the alarm light is on and quickly flashing. I don't know how to prime the water circuit
Hello! On my machine the coffe and zig zag signs are blinking what should I do
Hello Amelie Gregoire Grenier, The coffee and descale lights indicate a grinder or a brew unit clog. You may also benefit from deep cleaning the brew unit at the video below:

Hopefully this does it, but if not, you may need to bring it in to a service center for a further look. - Teri
Good thanks a lot for your help !
I think we can clear the descale notification light by pressing the steam button few seconds.
has anyone had a issue with the power? our machine does not stay on when plugged in?
OMG! Love you guys. Solved my problem when I was losing my mind with coffee withdrawals!😀
salut les tous monde es que cette machine elle se détartre ou pas est comment en la détartre
You were spot on. Thanks our machine is working again.
Very helpful video. Thank you from British Columbia.
If I were to do it over again, I'd buy it thru your site.
First explanation worked perfectly.
Kind of. So... when my knob was fully closed it was not working. I ooened it, poured some water, and closed it bit by bit untillthe error was gone.
Great to hear! :) - Kat
Thank you very much for this video. I watched a few of them already and they are very well detailed and more importantly, dummy proof!!! It solved my problem (those damn magnets...). Cheers
Sometimes you can, yes; other times, you have to fake the machine out sort of. - Kat
my door keeps opening please help
thank you so much i now understand why my red light kept on flasing steady cause i didn't have a dregdrawer.
es-que en peux la détartre
I had a quickly flashing exclamation point warning, which meant I had to prime it by running the steamer for a few seconds. I gotta say that it took me well over 10 minutes to figure out the problem and to brew a cup of coffee in the morning this is simply BAD DESIGN. I’ve never seen such an unnecessarily complicated coffee machine. Brews decent coffee, but you’ll never have this problem with a Keurig.
You are great ❤
to extend the time grinding on saeco clothing go
Yup! :) - Kat
Thanks dude!
Thanks, great info, good to know! :)
Anytime Fleck Kcelf! Thanks for watching!
Merci énormément ! J'ai trouvé la solution à mon problème.
