Fun fact: Michael Kiske was just 18 when he joined the band and 19 when he recorded this album, which tells a lot about his talent.
At the time he was considered as one of the best vocalists in the metal genre. Still at 50+ he is a powerhouse.
i still say he is 1 of the best vocalists ever.
He is my favorite singer of all time
He’s gonna be in Helloween’s nearly 3 hr concert Blu-ray release this October.
He’s a great singer reminds me of Bruce Dickinson.
He was like 16 or 17 when he was first approached about joining the band. And then at 18 he joined.
You seem to enjoy Power Metal! It's more fun and less serious, and have more of a light sound!

@@GiddyKitty there is some pretty dark power metal but for the most part it is a fun genre. Dragonforce concerts are basically comedy shows with crazy fast metal. Also I love your cat shirts.

Rafael Santos Andre matos is a badass vocalist. But I prefer Viper over Angra.
Check out the theatre of fate album not a bad song on there. It’s Andre matos’ old band.
@@champion6534 I know, I'm from Brazil. There's also Shaman too. I really like the Virgo project, his voice in his prime, although is more a rock/pop. But in Angra that you'll find the more melodic clean voice.
One of my favorite bands all time. They're the inventors of speed/power metal. Please more Helloween. I really recommend the band Savatage, think you will enjoy the song handful of rain.

Power metal is more upbeat than other types of metal. And Helloween were the first power metal band really.
They're far away from being the first power metal band. US bands have done power metal earlier and some EU bands too.
FaerieKim many power metal bands would say the first power metal bands where bands like rainbow when they had Ronnie James dio and Judas Priest and Iron Maiden when they had Bruce Dickinson as well as bands like hammer fall.

Still got the hair (almost 50, so thank god for that, just more gray!), still love this ... went to the 1987 MTV headbangers ball for my birthday - Helloween, Armored Saint, and Grim Reaper @ 1st Ave Minneapolis. These guys were awesome, considered an annex to Iron Maiden, but stood their own ground as far as I am concerned and am a huge Maiden fan.So there's that. ;)

OMG! I love you now even more GiddyKitty! Helloween is my favourite band so far!!! But this is not one of their best songs :( So I feel bad you didn't get a better choice. But it is fine, you enjoyed it and liked it and that matters! I would have loved you attempted the high notes, I don't min my ears, it is always a pleasure to see you try lol
They are even active nowadays. They have had three vocalists in their history, and they are touring with the three of them singing their hearts out. They are just amazing.

Great reaction, Helloween are considered the first and one of the most influential Power Metal bands, great band, I suggest Keeper of the Seven Keys or Helloween(Full version) songs to see what they are totally capable of. This singer Michael Kiske, but in the 90s he left the band and was replaced by Andreas Deris, also a great singer, however different. Michael Kiske has rejoined the band in 2016 for the world tour Pumpkins United and now he is practically a part of the band again and works with the rest again.
Here are some other rather over the top and funny suggestions - Rhapsody - Unholy Warcry(Epic version), it has to be the Epic Version. Sir Christopher Lee worked with the band before his death and narrated their albums.
Stratovarius - Hunting High and Low, Destiny. Another influential Power Metal band.
Gloryhammer - Angus McFife, Rise of the Chaos Wizards or Hootsforce - Side project of the singer from Alestorm, this time in an Epic Fantasy/Sci-fi theme.
Twilight Force - Flight of the Sapphire Dragon or The Power of the Ancient Force.

Also an old song that sounds happy, where you really should look at the lyrics is "eagle fly free".
I personally also love their newer songs, they have pretty different sounds over the different albums.

I am kind of partial to the 80s music as well. I think overall it was the best time for all kinds of music. Just an opinion.
If you like singing with high notes you should check out Queensryche - Take Hold of the Flame live from Tokyo 1984. My favorite band from that era and a fantastic live performance.

This band got me into metal like 5 years ago, the first time I've heard Eagle Fly Free I was like holy shit, this is the most epic thing I've ever heard :D still probably my favorite song by them, so I'd really recommend it or almost anything from the two Keeper Of the Seven Keys albums. Other than that some other power metal bands I'd recommend would be Stratovarius or Sonata Arctica and you should also check out some more symphonic metal like Epica, Within Temptation or Xandria. I think you'd love it based on your Nightwish reaction + you'd definitely find another girl crushes :D

Did you see that we, metal guys, are happy and fun people? We hide it a little bit, but it's not because we are ashamed, it's just that we like that posture, but we're friendly, fun and happy people. If not a metal attitude to be unfriendly or sad or anger.
Anyway, the songs is about to be young in the end of cold war context. The are from Germany, and in that time there were two Germany countries, divided by the Wall. One communist, or at least stalinist, and the other one liberal or capitalist. This song is a kind of scream of tiredness about that old cold war. 1989 the wall fell and a couple of years later the USSR fell too.
Maybe you know the most of the things I said here, but maybe some of your viewer don't.

Twighlight of the gods is a decent song, but there isn't a proper video for it. Did you react to a live version, because the top one that comes up is horrendous.

Their genre is what we the rockers call Power Metal with heavy and fast guitar riffs together with good lyrics with real meaning and the lead singer that has this good ranges of voice because they could reach higher notes and switching to a low and gutural tone easily and in accordance with the speed of the drums rythym. Another one of the good german groups like Scorpions, UFO, Accept, Rammstein.

It is interesting to evaluate metal music when you have a silhouette of a unicorn, a butterfly and flowers on a wall and a pink shirt. It's very fun. And good job, it is amazing concept. :-)
Rana, I've figured out your style of metal. The only reason why you haven't been enjoying metal as much as you could until now is because you've been listening to more extreme neo-metal songs, which overdo the growling and blast beats. You need to discover some more old-school metal stuff. Some genres and key words to look for: classical heavy metal, hard rock, glam metal, 80s metal, NWBHM (new wave of British heavy metal), maybe even some power metal. I would list some specific bands or songs, but I'm reluctant to single any of them out, and if I started listing everything I could think of, then the list would grow too long. . . . But you know what? Let's live dangerously: I will suggest one: We're not Gonna Take It by Twisted Sister, a classic.
I too was born in '94, but you look younger than me. It might be annoying for you now, but you'll probably be happy about looking younger than your age in some 20 years from now, lol.
As for their hair, I'm not sure it's naturally like that. It looks like it might take some special conditioner or hair spray to get it all puffed up like that. Glam metal is all about hair spray. If you think *that* hair was notable, you should check out some pictures of glam metal bands (ho ho ho). I wish today's fashion was as unisex as 80s fashion.

Here I go with my first suggestion for you (Time to try my luck): Saurom- El carnaval del Diablo (Leyendas); I always feel good when I listen to this band, all problems go away with happy folk-rock rythms and amazing lyrics. I promise you can make a good review video and enjoy the song although it's in spanish.

I consider Helloween to be the beginning of power metal, and then many bands adopted this style. As you already know, I love symphonic metal, and when you combine symphonic metal and power metal, you get bands like Nightwish, Kamelot, Serenity, and others. Of course I know you like symphonic metal as well, you need to get Epica here, and I won't stop bugging you about reacting to Consign to Oblivion live lol

Modern take on not so serious power metal there are plenty to choose from, for example: Battle Beast, Beast in black and Powerwolf comes to mind. Some examples of popular songs by each band: Powerwolf - Universe on fire, Battle Beast - Black Ninja, Beast in Black - Blind and Frozen or maybe for maximum 80's cheese their newer song : Sweet true lies.
