Check out the Government Accountability Office,
"On May 15, 2024, GAO released its 14th annual report highlighting opportunities to reduce fragmentation, overlap, and duplication in federal programs-as well as chances to save money and increase revenue.
We identified 112 new matters for congressional consideration and recommendations for agencies to save money and improve efficiency and effectiveness of government programs and activities.
      Notable examples include:
The Defense Counterintelligence and Security Agency should ensure its working capital fund cash balance is within its operating range, potentially saving its federal customers hundreds of millions of dollars through reduced prices.
Congress and the Internal Revenue Service should take action to improve sole proprietor tax compliance, which could increase revenue by hundreds of millions of dollars per year."

It’s simple. 1: Announce a 100% hiring freeze, no exceptions. 2: Announce a 5% annual cut it net spending (as in 5% LESS than last year, not a reduction in growth), WITH NO REDUCTION IN SERVICES. Any secretaries/managers/ supervisors who say they can’t are fired and replaced with someone who can. Some departments, such as Education are simply closed and the funds directed to the States.

Milei in Argentina got rid of entire departments. DEI was dismantled with zero effect on government efficiency.
HR departments can be done away with. Governments don't add to GDP because they build departments that don't produce anything of value. They are a cost without a benefit that exceeds the cost. That's the definition of a bureaucracy. It's like having permanent constipation.

One thing that many taxpayers don’t know is that government institutions and government affiliates are encouraged to spend their budgets. I work at an NGO that gets funding from the EU and several other donors. Although all contracts say that any leftover money should be returned to the donor when a project completes, donor employees actually want you to spend the money. Like if you don’t spend everything and return any money back, you’ll be frowned upon and literally no government donor would ever give you money again. One time we hand some leftover money, the budget holder told us ask for anything even if you don’t need it so that money is spent.
One of the internal KPIs for measuring the success of the organization is “burn rate”, which measures whether we’re spending enough and no money is left over by the end of any given project.
You’re actually encouraged to waste money in government.

Yes, our children and grandchildren, who never had a vote on how or by whom the money would be spent, will have to pay this money back. This is clearly "taxation without representation".
I remember President Reagan talking about how there's no incentive for government agencies to save money. He said if they don't spend what they're allotted for the year, their budget will be reduced the next year. An example of this was told to me by a man why worked for TVA as a custodian. He said TVA "needed" to use up their allotted funds, so he was paid OVER TIME to sweeping an 8'x8' area all day.
One thing that has never made sense to me, is bringing in poor foreigners to do low skilled labor when we have so many low skilled Americans on socialist welfare. When we have automation cutting out the need for low skilled labor, these poor low skilled foreigners will eventually become an additional welfare burden on taxpayers. They already have their children at taxpayer expense. The "cheap labor" has become a way big corporations move their cost of doing business into the backs of taxpayers. Illegal aliens don't really do jobs Americans won't do, they do jobs democracts on socialist welfare should be doing.

He's not wrong. Economics is not a zero sum game but it's not the opposite of that either. Recessions and depressions aren't created by a lack of money...Super rich people didn't go out back in 1929 and just start burning piles of cash to cause this. The money still existed then as it did in 2008. What causes it is when the money stops moving. When you destroy large amounts of government like that, you are destroying channels through which that money was moving. As it is, I agree with him 100%. But the people who are saying we just need to stop the spending cold turkey and you can all just "suck it up buttercup" have no idea what the consequences of what they think they want would be. This has to be done carefully.

For Elon: You just installed a massive computer @Tesla & X has GROK. Your D.O.G.E. can lease both, install all of the rules, regulations, etc. in the federal government and instruct GROK to find overlaps, redundancies & obsolete rules and eliminate them. Then, instruct GROK to come up with a consolidation plan to cut & combine redundant agencies. Then, instruct GROK to eliminate inefficient jobs of what remains. My guess is the federal government will be one-third to one-quarter of its former self. Finally, have GROK write an ironclad law for Congress to pass that will slow or halt regrowth.

And why are these corporations donating so much money? Further, politicians don’t need so much money to campaign if they are limited to zoom interviews with TH-cam podcasters. The debates should also have a standardized format - no voting until debates are finished. Three minimum. And judges should also be required to debate - have you ever tried to find out about a local judge candidate? Impossible they don’t even have websites.

The only purpose for laws like this to remain in an active state is for entrapment. That’s it! It’s easy to say “We don’t enforce it”. One senator, upon learning that the majority of fatalities that occurred when a train was read-ended by another train were in the last car, introduced a bill to require that passenger trains be prohibited from being operated with a last car. The one thing Elon will face with the reduction of government jobs is that private industry, for the most part, does not offer a retirement anymore. The shift would be much easier if a bill was passed that when a full-time employee meets specific thresholds the company must offer some sort of retirement. The actual amount can be much smaller than when the employee was working, but something is better than nothing. Depending upon a 401K and SSA may not be enough for the average retiree over a 20-30 year period. IF all companies offer a retirement, then it equalizes the playing field.
