Heyy at 9:33 I noticed the dreaded gluuueee stringsss Ugh! I feel your pain, lol, so I figured Id pass on my FAV trick I rarely hear anyone mention in the DIY side of YT (One chnl mentioned it after I left her a comment telling her about this tip in a previous video, lol). I read about it on a DIY blog yearssss ago and have been using it ever since and passing it on when I can. If you store your glue sticks in the freezer, it cuts down to basically no glue strings to deal with! It does NOT effect the glue in ANY way, Ive been doing this for YEARS with all my glue sticks from my industrial glue sticks to my gorilla glue sticks, my glitter ones and even my fabric glue sticks! And you take the glue sticks right from the freezer and pop it into your glue gun and it works perfectly fine, even on a low heat setting! Best little trick I ever read about! Hope it helps!
Yes to Rachel Maksy fanclub! Who isn't aspiring to be her? Your frames turned out amazing. I especially like the rat one because it just looks unexpected and super interesting. I also love the little terrarium with the teeny tiny dragon. So cuuuute!
Rachel is one of those people who would definitely be overjoyed you had an idea similar to hers. You can just tell there is no ego to her where she thinks she owns every idea she comes up with. And, plus, you totally made yours your own. And I am inspired by you both. ❤❤
First time viewer 🎉As a stay at home mom for the last 15 yrs, Goodwill gave me the chance to get back in the workforce. It is the perfect position for me right now. I actually get paid to go to my favorite place! I am actually excited and happy to go to work everyday! On my days off I can't wait to get back to work! Feeling VERY VERY BLESSED 🙏🏽❤️😌
I am in spooky mode 24/7. Anytime I go shopping, no matter what the season, I tend to look at things & think "how can I make this spooky?" As for the figurines you pulled of the pictures, I would totally repaint them with red eyes & make them demonic, or zombies...or demonic zombies!
Don’t fret, it’s that time of the year and all crafters will be either spooky or cutesy….😂. Items looked great and always love a thrift haul that turns into new unplannned projects
Oh please!! You go girl! I’ve seen these the last several years. In stores, all over YT, Pinterest, etc. Everyone is inspired by everyone. An influencer has done their job if the influenced you anyway. I even did these with butterflies 6 moths ago. Inspired ideas with our own twist is what we do. Thank you for a cool, inspiring video.👍🦋❤️ Also- love your painted wall!!
I love videos like this! Rachel Maksy is one of my faves, too! But I love things where you take thrifted things and make them spooky...we do some spooky all year long in our house so spooky is my favorite!
Just found your channel. You are hilarious. I laughed out loud even while I’m sick and in pain now, you’re that funny! And love the crafts and the just get it done attitude. New sub
Love your eclectic thrift haul---those plaque people were creepy enough as is---you could definitely taxidermy them! And as for the cloche, I wouldn't worry about copying, a cloche full of moss is not exactly ground-breaking in the craft world, even with a dragon. Yours is quite nice. The plaques came out great, I especially love how you made the Pegasus look as if she/he were bursting through the frame in a cloud of gold. Rat tail is a nicely gruesome touch---spider is excellently hairy, maybe more web & a fly (or perhaps some creepy country people?) stuck in that web. All most inspirational to get on the Halloween crafting boat!
That wall and the spooky art….amazing! I decided this year I’m going to create Halloween stuff for myself, and the cats in the back yard 👻🎃🙀. TY, this is the first one of your videos I’ve watched. I am inspired.
You are delightful! So happy your video popped up in my feed. Never heard of Ko-fi, but will 100% check it out. I’ve been looking for a good place to sell my creations.
Same! I got back from my annual antiquing market with a gorgeous thrifted antique butterfly in a bubble glass frame so I can build out my inspiration wall. It is uncanny how we are all finding these items so close together.
The red cruet is from the 70’s Avon Cranberry Glass series. There were drinking glasses and dinner plates as well as other pieces. My mom already collected a type of art glass so we never bought any of it, but it is pretty.
Really liked the cloche with the dragon - it's a nice dragon. You could get a chunky based candleholder and attach it to that if you want it on a pedestal. I recently got a glass dome that was over an ugly clock at the thrift shop, happened to have a Chinese wood stand that it fit on perfectly, now I need a cool candle base. Love the Indian brass vase and I liked the rat a lot. All together the wall looks awesome. Thanks for the inspirations!
I DO recognize that bottle/collection. My Grandparents had this dish set at their wedding. I now have most of it in my cupboard. They made these fancy bath products, they made dishes, and they probably made other stuff too. They're beautiful and kind of rare, even though they're super thick and while made with time it gets harder and harder to find these glass collections because they get broken over the years. The pieces of my grandparents wedding set that had gotten broken over the years, I have been working on replacing piece by piece at thrift, antique and vintage stores. It is a labor of love, because they can be pricey and often I find a single piece like this that you've found. I don't have a single piece of the bath collection and have only seen this one, one other time so bravo!! 👏👏👏 Collecting these is a labor of love for me. I also have small collections of depression glass, uranium glass and a couple of misc other glass collections and I am looking for a used, reasonably priced large vintage curio cabinet to house them, along with my specimen collection, and other curiosities. I absolutely love your bath oil container, you could use it for so many things. It is beautiful, and if you clean it well, I'm pretty sure that the glass itself is safe even for food, unlike my uranium glass, lol, just fyi. 😊 Ps-- the taxidermy doesn't sound weird, it sounds BRILLIANT! The original people on it was no dice for me. Taxidermy I can get behind. I have a couple of dry specimens of large and medium horseshoe crabs, and up close, those things look like face huggers from alien!! They are so.... Alien! Looking! And I've been wondering how to display them... I think you just gave me an awesome idea! I hope eventually I can find two round paintings like what you found. That would look amazing! Thank you!?!
Love your work! Totally doesn't feel copied, we're all in the spooky mood :D I am so obsessed with your frame compositions: the animals popping out of the frame like they're coming out of the abyss, the color pops of greenery, and all the trinkets adding interest! Hell yeah
Love the ideas. I will use them. You should glue a dollar store candlestick to the dome thing you made to elevate it since you said you want one on a pedestal.
Yes!! The fact that Rachel might have done it first makes no difference since you made it your own a lot of other creators have as well so so long as you had fun and it came up beautiful that's the important part. My mother has been asking to get together and do some crafts where I can guide her but not do the things for her since I am a very experienced artist in crafter and seamstress and all of those things. And I firmly believe that this project will be perfect for us to do together so thank you so much for this! You have earned my follow LOL
Also I will be following you on my proper account motherhemcreations, when I finally get access to it I had a phone issue and had to change my phone number and so couldn't access it but now that I have a new phone I'll be able to LOL I just realized my username basically look like a bot LOL
Wow I just discovered literally today Dark Acadamia Art. I am blown away by how your items turned out. I love all of it. I think I might give this a try myself. Thank you so much for sharing your artwork with us.
Pumpkin shape pockets for the jumpsuit? Cute! The framed images and domes very inspiring. Well done. Tip- if you put spray foam into the hollows of the mouse and horse them screw in from the back to secure after dry and trimmed.
Great idea in the cloche with a normally large mythical animal but small for once! And the spider web is great & not overdone like so many of us do. The pegasus was nice touch. The rat I wasn't impressed with....until I saw the chopped off tail mounted at the bottom....well done! I'm off to check out your channel now!
I recognised the red Avon bottle!! I have 2 that I inherited from my Grandmother after she passed. I love them, they’re so cute. ❤ I love the “taxidermy” wall hangings!! That’s something I’ve always wanted to do so it’s very exciting to watch!! I love how all of these turned out - I think my fave was the mouse/rat!! ❤
I just stumbled upon your channel and this video , and I got to tell you I love your personality and style . You made me laugh through the projects, as you remind me of me . Definitely a fan and a subscriber now . Thank you for the inspiration and the fun time . . Blessings to you !
I think your projects turn out great, I want to start going to thrift stores and creating different projects instead of the same old ones. Thank you for your inspirations.
This is the second video of yours I’ve seen and oh my word! I love it! I forgot I already subbed after the first vid and tried to do it again. I can’t wait to see more. 😊
I think they all look great but the spider is really awesome with the webbing. I got one of the little dome thingies but hadn’t decided what to do with it yet. Now I know exactly what I’m going to do with it!!!
Hi, Katie! Just found you and so glad I did! I shall binge your previous videos, forthwith! You deserve massive viewership, in my opinion... funny, personable, disarming and so crazy talented! Love your attention to detail. Rachel IS amazing, but you bring your own, amazing spin to creative projects. Love that cloche! Thank you for your terrific content. - a fellow spooky Halloween queen
I can't tell you how much this comment shifted my day. I was struggling pretty hard and your kind words floored me. Thank you and I'm so glad you found me!
I love to laugh so that means I love you! I’m def digging the spooky vibe and academia decor, it’s so fun and innovative. Love what your bringing here, not a sower (seamstress) kinda gal 😝but someday I might try it lol. 🤣 New sub ❤😁
New subbie and fellow crafter and fellow Halloween queen & youtuber and YES how I know that feeling of dang it someone beat me too it! But everyone has a different way of creating and we are after all influencers and inspire others so sure go ahead and go for it!!! I am now inspired to create spooky dark academia projects for Halloween!
New Sub here, love this and anytime you need to get rid of pumpkins, throw 'em my way😂, I bought 6 last year, baked some for dinner, scooped and pureed for home made pies/breads and save seeds to plant, went to GW and other thrift store 3 days in a row, goodness got projects and loving your ideas- have a great rest of the day!
I love them! I am a year round, "everyday is Halloween" girl. I definitely indulge in the "yay Fall! Pumpkins & cider!" vibe in mid Aug thru September... Before descending into full on Super Spooky mode lol
Just found your channel. You did an amazing job. I’m one of those pumpkin spice everything girls but know watching all kind of diys helps to inspire me. I’m excited to watch your videos. I’m also a lifelong seamstress but don’t do it anymore but looking forward to teaching my granddaughter. Hope you have a great weekend 💕
It helps to remember that Unicorns have horns - it rhymes. Pegasus is the one with the wings. Brilliant ideas all around. I especially love that you incorporated the glue straggler strings as spider web.
I have a short lunch period and it's a cruddy week already (even though it's Monday) so this was just a perfect video to watch while I ate a quick lunch. Thanks for the inspiration! I see exactly why YT decided to show me your account -- Goodwill, DIY and Halloween makes. ❤
Spooky Halloween Queen here...and crafter. I just found your channel and I already love it! I think that vase is brass. And yes, that is a Pegasus. I would transform those "country figures" into some dark and disturbing...vampires, zombies, etc... Future DIY?
Love what your doing and ur shares! I am obsessed with spooky vibes and painting things black but I died a lil when you painted black over the pretty nature backgrounds. U should try and take the black paint off if u can! I would have done a smidgen of black to give it a worn look with the animals. I love the little rat guy!
I have the candy dish with lid and box from Avon's Cape Cod cranberry glass collection that matches the cruet that you have. I love cranberry and especially amber glass.
Hi Katie, new sub here! Not really in to fabric crafts (I’m more about paper) but I really enjoy your channel and I love dark academia. Great finds you got at the thrift store! 👍
Thank you and welcome! I've got a few dark academia vids coming in the next few months that don't focus on sewing so hopefully you'll find something else fun!
Way to call that out in your video and tag the creator. Classy act! TH-cam DIY done right! :) I think this is fantastic! :) Can't wait to spook-a-fy everything!
Hi first time watching your TH-cam channel Love it !! Please next time you use outside items. Put on a sheet pan and bake for about 15-20 min at 180 degrees That should kill the bugs Just keep an eye on them to see how your moss and such reacts Keep up the great work Karen from Florida 🌴💕
I don't know...that seems really dang fun (for those that like embroidery)! Christine McConnell did some spooky scarecrow embroidery that was pretty awesome

Omg the Avon bottle!!!! I saw a couple at my thrift store but they weren’t THAT color!!! Great find!

3:06 I have my mom’s Avon cruet! It is currently in my “vampire blood” vignette on my bathroom counter 😊
I'll never forget growing up with the cranberry glasses, which we drank out if for Sunday dinner. They were so heavy to lift when I was young. Cheers
Really liked the cloche with the dragon - it's a nice dragon. You could get a chunky based candleholder and attach it to that if you want it on a pedestal. I got a base for it finally!! I'll have to test it out and post for everyone to see.
When she painted over the paintings my heart sank... the fact I have been looking fore sonething like these is so sad...
I'm with you! Those were absolutely beautiful! 😮😢
Only saving grace is that they were prints. But uuuuggghhh they were so pretty!!!! :c
I think they are perfect and your great!

Looks cool! An idea: you can hot glue a low candlestick from the thrift store/dollar store to the bottom of your cloche to make a pedestal
Love this idea!! I'll have to look around for one. Thanks for the idea!
Love your work! Totally doesn't feel copied, we're all in the spooky mood :D I am so obsessed with your frame compositions: the animals popping out of the frame like they're coming out of the abyss, the color pops of greenery, and all the trinkets adding interest! Hell yeah

Pumpkin shape pockets for the jumpsuit? Cute! The framed images and domes very inspiring. Well done. Tip- if you put spray foam into the hollows of the mouse and horse them screw in from the back to secure after dry and trimmed.
Spray foam is such a great idea!! The Pegasus just fell off today and I was stumped for how to reattach it better. This is perfect!
Cool vid! Love the projects! And the music you chose! I bet you like Jethro Tull! I was expecting Ian Anderson to start singing!
Great idea in the cloche with a normally large mythical animal but small for once! And the spider web is great & not overdone like so many of us do.
The pegasus was nice touch. The rat I wasn't impressed with....until I saw the chopped off tail mounted at the bottom....well done!

Love so much what you did is soooo beautiful❤❤❤
Those were mid-century Italian Empire Art 3-D wall plaques. They can fetch a good bit of money.
Whoa! 😮😮❤
Good thing I didn't get them because I would've painted them into blackeyed children and such. 😂
This was so fun! I think I’m going to have to ~finally pick some paintings from my Savers to upcycle.
It's so stupidly fun! I may need to do a bunch more just because I love them!
4:36 😱🙀 JUST a PEGASUS?!?! Lol 🤣🤣🤣🤣
How fun. Subscribed. Can’t wait to do a deep dive into your videos 😂
Oh boy! What a trip that'll be, I'm sure 🤣
I have the candy dish with lid and box from Avon's Cape Cod cranberry glass collection that matches the cruet that you have. I love cranberry and especially amber glass.
Yes!!! Love me some cape cod Ruby glass!! 🖤
New subscriber here. Loved these makes. Looking forward to watching more of your content.
Awesome! Thank you!
OMG ..I'd love to paint ghosties on those paintings ❤
Ooooh, neat idea!! They could probably use some zhuzhing now that we're a year out
I love your creativity!
Such a fun video! I sell Avon and I LOVE when people find vintage Avon items! That little bottle is so pretty! The color is amazing!
So good, so fun! Keep going!
Way to call that out in your video and tag the creator. Classy act! TH-cam DIY done right! :) I think this is fantastic! :) Can't wait to spook-a-fy everything!
Loved ALL these projects 🖤🖤🖤🖤
Hi first time watching your TH-cam channel
Love it !!
Please next time you use outside items. Put on a sheet pan and bake for about 15-20 min at 180 degrees
That should kill the bugs Just keep an eye on them to see how your moss and such reacts
Keep up the great work
Karen from Florida 🌴💕
Great idea!! I rarely plan that far ahead but I'm going to try next time!
First video, new sub. The glass bottle from Avon is from the 1876 Cape Cod, Ruby Red collection. My favorite is the decanter and wine glasses
Now that I have one, I'm definitely on the lookout for more!
This turned out so cute! Love them. Great job.
Just found your channel! TH-cam recommendations coming in for the win! 🖤🍂😊
Love the trophy head frame, very Halloween! I think I would have embroidered some moths for them which wouldn’t be nearly as fun xx
I don't know...that seems really dang fun (for those that like embroidery)! Christine McConnell did some spooky scarecrow embroidery that was pretty awesome
My birthday is in October and I love horror and all things pumpkin and pumpkin Spice.
Hey Hallow-QUEEN!❤🎃🐈⬛ I JUST discovered your channel. I love this vid! So much talent! 🎃🎃🎃 That jumpsuit is fire!
