      Is treating entire prop and hub with nail polish hardner better than superglue on only the seamline of the hairline fracture?

      Been smothering my S quad blades with super glue, getting the same wobbles.

    Hi. This thread may be dead already, but here goes. I see many rave reviews about the Tinyhawk, but not much about the issues. I bought a Tinyhawk S at pre-release and as a first drone it seemed great.
    The cracked hubs is my experience as well. And boy, does it crack often and easily! (No one had broken props, except me it seems.) If unsure about cracked hubs, add 2S pack and do I few hard flips or manouvres, the prop tend to depart the drone. Also on a 2S pack, the drone will wobble and do weird things as the prop slips. I had two new props crack shortly just daring to use a 2S pack. Mine only cracks at the hub, never on the sides though.
    After about 20 packs one of my motors started to shudder. In another video you explained your fix. Mine never got fixed and I ordered two new motors and before they arrived a second motor failed. After endless frustration and knowing it is not the ESC or motor, I decided to solder two motors directly to the board, and away goes my problem. Unfortunately, one motor that was noisy got worse over time. After swapping the bell with a good motor, I quickly figured the bell was damaged. No loose magnets, no cracked magnets, no unbalance or bent shaft. I even swapped bearings, but that bell was dead. Emax just asked me to check the motor is not blocked.... duh. After a microscope check, I know what is not there. At this stage my drone was not even a month old and with only 6 packs and two useless motors, I did not fly a lot.
    A month or so later, both the unsoldered motors started to shudder. Solved by again soldering to the ESC. Only problem now, the soldered joints seem to pass more current, and withing seconds my battery voltage drops to 3.4V. On hard punches both the 1s and 2S packs drops to "Land now" status on fresh batteries. Often the video also cuts out during a punch. (I have a cap installed on the VTX) I have brand new packs this week as all my original packs ballooned to blimp status. Some of my new packs started to puff after 3 flights. The worse packs are the ones bought directly from Emax rated at 80/160C.
    As of late both drone range and video feed is reliable only to 30m open space. My Bayang protocol with Boldclash camera setup (read cheap) is working so much better than my Tinyhawk S. In fact I fly my 8520 brushed drone whose flight controller came from a Santa Whoop more often and had to replace only one motor due to it's shaft bending and two props that started to spin of the shaft. My Tinyhawk in comparison, destroyed six battery packs, 12 propellers, one motor, the range is poor and I spend countless hours trying to fix and fault find problems. In fact I will not recommend Emax again as they brushed me off (Pun intended) when I asked for support. I guess that they will only send free drones on good reviews and stuff the user with that have issues. (I had to make videos about my stuttering motors for them, and then they ask me to check if the motors spin freely - that was when I decided to give up on them.)

      Wow, I am really sorry to hear about all of that. I would be super frustrated with the company too. I have the regular Tinyhawk and my friend has a Tinyhawk S and so far they have been fantastic for us. I am sorry you got a lemon. Unlike most racing drone companies, at least you were able to get a hold of them and they replied to you. Recently I have picked up a couple drones from iFlight and they seem to be really well built. Fortunately, I have not had the "opportunity" to check out their customer service though. We'll see how that goes if I need to. This hobby can be really frustrating at times, but when stuff works it is incredible. I hope you are able to get up in the air with some good working stuff soon. Good luck!

    This is exactly what happened to my first prop that started falling off yesterday, I was so confused. Your video was the first I clicked on and it was the perfect one, Thx!

    I noticed that too.. Im gonna try adding a fine line of model glue or super glue.. Hopefully that'll fix it until I get replacements..

    Thanks for the video man. I have actually had a real problem with getting these props off without feeling like I'm going to break something or rip the motor in half. if you have any suggestions or links that can show me how I can safely get it off that would be great. Any links or videos how to upgrade the camera for this drone. I know it seems very straightforward but I haven't seen many videos online about it. Thanks

      how did u get them off

    • @reckonsin_fpv
      @reckonsin_fpv 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@jordanharns6320 firmly grab around the back side of the motor, protruding your fingers up on against the inside of the prop. Then simply twist the prop, and it'll wedge itself off. Use your finger as a lever. If that makes sense? Good luck my friend. My prop exploded and hit the motherboard which popped off a tiny part and now one motor doesn’t spin up

    I had some weird (and intermittent) behavior from my TinyHawk S.
    In light of this new information, prop-slippage looks like a probable culprit.
    They are 4-blade reversibles, but of the same make, with the same hub-design.
    I guess this is the downside of the inverted motor.
    (plus-side is my THawk didn't just suddenly tumble to the ground)
    Good info. Thanks.

    • @IanBeaty
      @IanBeaty  5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I hope this fixes your problem. I have not used the 4 blade props yet, but I have some and they look like they would have the same problem. Another common problem could be that there is hair wrapped up inside the motor. That can cause similar behavior. Good luck getting things worked out!

    • @Jake-co7rt
      @Jake-co7rt 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      My spouse has cats, so hair is definitely a possibility.
      At work now, so I can't check it out 'til I get home later.
      But I'm betting on 1 or more cracked prop(s).

    • @Jake-co7rt
      @Jake-co7rt 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      That was the problem. (c:
      Thanks again.
      I am rather disenchanted with these props over this issue. That hairline crack is very hard to see, but was allowing just enough slip to confuse the board and effectively ground it.
      I'll probably be trying some other 4-blade, 1535 props soon. I'll let you know what they are and if they are better.

    • @IanBeaty
      @IanBeaty  5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@Jake-co7rt I am glad you figured that out. With all of my flying and racing with these props, I have not really had problems with them, except when one crack got really big. If you do find another good prop, it would be great to know about. I just wonder if other types of props would be more exposed to damage because they would have to sit down below the motors.

    • @Jake-co7rt

      Oops. Hadn't thought of that. Have some ordered. I'll let you know.

    I had 6 props break today, only 1 on the hub and other 5 along the bell. No crashes either. Well I didn’t crash until the prop flew off

    • @IanBeaty
      @IanBeaty  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Wow, that's crazy! Have you had the Tinyhawk for a while? It seems like the props mount a little too tight and get worn out if they are on the motor a long time, or if you remove and reattach them.

    • @djs134
      @djs134 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Ian Beaty I’ve had mine since it came out but it sat on the shelf for months due to what I initially thought was an esc probably but later after more people experienced the issue determained that the motor wires needed to be soldered on. So now I’ve been flying it for the past few months and suddenly I had props start popping off today on 3 of 4 motors and then the new ones cracked along the bell. It’s the strangest thing. I’ve had a few in the past crack along the shaft like u had. But today was the first I’ve seen them pop at the bell. And to have so many pop today and new ones was crazy

    • @djs134
      @djs134 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Ian Beaty I ordered them from pinionrc I never heard of them but they had them on clearance. Basically there entire store is on clearance so I got like 15 sets of 4 for under 10 bucks with some coupon code. But 2 of the props today were from raceday or pyrodrone so I don’t know what’s going on

    • @IanBeaty
      @IanBeaty  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@djs134 Sorry to hear about all of that. I wonder if the plastic they are made out of gets more brittle as it ages so it cracks when it is press fit onto the motors. That is worse than I have seen. At least most of them were really cheap.
