    Solid road network with no single pothole or flooded streets. I also enjoyed the paved inner estates far from the highways. I really love the well-manicured lush green lawns and flower beds along the major roads. Everything about this city is scenic and something that should be copied by Nigerian states as their capital cities: Enugu, Owerri, Abakaliki, Calabar, Uyo, Benin, Ibadan, Umuahia, Awka, Ilorin, Lokoja, Asaba, Port Harcourt, etc.

    • @FERESE
      @FERESE หลายเดือนก่อน +3

      It's ludicrous!!!! They compare a 5-10km road that is well groomed in a country to Lagos, really. He should have shown where the citizens live too. Let's see if Lagosians can live in those old houses that look like old Ikeja and old Agege with high rent, except for a few places that are reserved for the expats foreigners, diasporan, and super rich. A country where most houses don't even have a kitchen and toilets inside the main building. He should ask for the rent of those beautiful homes and compare them to Lagos. Most of these countries only focus on the capital and central business district. The rest of the country is not developed. Countries that owe Nigeria for electricity for more than 3yrs and still benefit from Nigerian investors in their country. Please Nigerian TH-camr, you can do better. Cotonou is doing just fine but don't ever compare it to Lagos that has the GDP of 4 African countries including Ghana. If you're so desperate to compare perhaps use your state of origin or use our Capital ABUJA.

      Béninois are not investing in Nigeria too ? Do you think only nigerians are investing in Nigeria, so there is no foreigner in your Nigeria ? What is your problème ? Electricity here is not like Nigeria where power Always is cut off. We invested alot in building our own source of energy , you have no good information about Bénin. Electricity from Nigeria is like 5% today . Do you think our president is joking here ? You think that Bénin of today is the one you will look down like you did before ? Just shut up and take correction. Pride and arrogance have destroyed Nigerians in their illusional praise of Lagos. That is delusional because Lagos does not rank among the 4 most beautiful cities in West Africa. I am not even talking of Africa. It is now that the administrators of Lagos have woken up to that reality by adding extensions like Eko Atlantic City and Lekki to try and bring some aesthetic sanity to the chaotic former capital city of Nigeria. Thank God for the coming of our beautiful FCT, Abuja. We would have become a laughing stock to the whole of Africa and the world. I got amazed after doing a video tour of Nairobi, Abidjan, Dakar, Mombasa, Dar es Salaam, Cairo, Johannesburg, Durban, Pretoria, Cape Town, Windhoek, Luanda Angola, etc. We are nowhere near these countries in terms of city development. With all the wealth Nigeria has and the number of dollar billionaires she parades, the infrastructural development in our major cities are poor and disgraceful. Let the truth be told. I am not given to blind loyalty or patriotism. We need to massively and aggressively open up our cities or mark out new territories for development if the old ones have become too difficult to ameliorate, reshape and upgrade.

    CFAO now higher than Naira, this is shameful. 500 CFAO is quite cheap for that distance. Contonou have really evolved. Very small country compare to Nigeria but look at what they've achieved within few year. You can't even compare the neatness and beauty of this city with any city in Nigeria and it's not even the capital city. What has Nigeria achieved as a united country all these years, everybody looking up to oil, yet only few enriched themselves. Abeokuta use to be more developed than Cotonou in the 60s up to early 90's. I'm still in my 40's but I know when there was was no dual carriage road in the entire Binin Republic until 1993.. I know when they built the only skyscrappers in their country, I know when there was no streetlight in the streets and no street roads are tared in their GRA. I built my house with Cotonou blocks in 2007 in Lagos State. If you see the house.., so sharp, simple and neat. That's their logo. They don't compromise quality and neatness. In 1977, Nigeria extended Lagos Badagry Express road to Cotonou for free, they were so poor and rely so much on Nigeria. That's why many of them can speak Yoruba in order interact snd move freely in Lagos The only thing generating revenue for them then was the wharf, and it's Igbo business men that imports from there. They respect Igbo for that. Today Lagos Badagry road is an abandoned project. Did you see how solid their own express road now looks? Nigeria is a disgrace to Africa. This country needs to beake up into pieces or restructured. Otherwise, it will end in worst disgrace.

    How the mighty has fallen? Who would have foreseen or imagined that someday Nigerians will migrate to Benin Republic, precisely Cotonou, to become commercial motorcyclists and earn a higher-valued CFA Francs than Naira? The evil APC led by Muhammadu Buhari and Bola Tinubu has brought us down to this humiliating and disgraceful situation. As of the good roads and aesthetically landscaped city layout which attests to the high quality of urban planning in most francophone countries, I am not surprised because they do that with the help of France. Paris is more beautiful than London. The former British colonies in Africa bear the tight, unattractive and traffick-choking city-planning imprints of their colonial master. All former French colonies in Africa have better cities than their former British counterparts. You cannot compare Cote D'Ivoire, Dakar, Cotonou or Lome to Freetown in Sierra Leone, Accra in Ghana, Banjul in The Gambia, or Lagos in Nigeria. That is a fact. Our leaders have no sense of quality service, beauty and lasting investment in infrastructural development. Abuja may be the only exception, if we continue, following the city's original master plan.
