      Thanks for your comment. I feel A 60 Series with a 12HT is the perfect all around 4x4 vehicle. Good reliability, a lot of room, decent power/torque and range. I can go 900KM's (560miles) on a tank!

      Thanks for commenting. The 12HT rebuild video is in the works. I have dot published it yet. I do suspect the viewer interest of this will be a bit low since its an older engine and not a lot of people want to rebuild them. My video will just explain what I went through and what the stumbling blocks were. If you want more info, please feel free to PM me. cheers.

    • @MikeFreda
      @MikeFreda  ปีที่แล้ว

      Thanks. I have a 90L tank and can typically go 850-900km per tank. 10L/100kms…. Which roughly works out to 23mpg US. This is better than my Tacoma.

    Awesome 60! You have done a great job fixing her up. It would be great to get your opinion and experience working on the 12HT.
    I'm in Maryland, U.S.A. I would love a Toyota Diesel. I currently have a 90 FJ62 that I want to do a Diesel conversion. I also am interested in a 60 that's for sale with a 12HT. I'm apprehensive to get into the 12HT due to parts availability here in the U.S. What's your opinion/experience?

    • @MikeFreda
      @MikeFreda  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thanks for your comments. It’s been a lot of work…. Not sure if would do it again without a proper shop.
      The 12HT is probably one of the best Diesel engines Toyota ever made. Yes, parts for them in North America is hard to find. Australia and other parts of the world makes it easier to get. Pistons, gasket, bearings, water pumps… etc… is pretty easy to obtain. Other parts like cranks, head, injection pumps… etc… are near impossible or cost alot of money.
      Doing a swap into a 62 is relatively straight forward you would just have to make sure the transmission will adapt, engine mounts are correct and you have the fuel system figure out.
      You may want to consider the Cummins 2.8.

      @@MikeFreda I've already done a H55F conversion. I really would like to stay true to Toyota. Doesn't seem right putting anything other than a Toyota engine in. But I get it.

    Hey Mike, how did you go about getting your hands on a 12HT?

    • @MikeFreda
      @MikeFreda  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      I local Landcruiser shop purchased a “wrecked” HJ61 and parted it out. I purchased the used engine from them. Pricey but worth it. They are fantastic engines. Unfortunately, I pushed a little too much boost in this older engine (300,000kms) and blew the head gasket. I ended up doing a full rebuild on it. Runs like a champ now.
