The push and hold is to eliminate fob in pocket, accidentally opening. 4. Is what it is, same for all targa tops. 5. Try track mode for launch control. Consider yourself lucky you haven’t had a failed transmission or dreaded “ticking” engine sound from misaligned camshaft caps.
To each their own but I feel like most of these issues are just nit picking. Of course the rear storage area gets hot, theres a giant engine back there lol. The engine compartment does get dirty, but when u wash the car you just clean the engine compartment, super easy. One thing I do agree with is that the launch control is ridiculous compared to other supercars. Why didnt chevy just put a launch control button on the steering wheel?
I usually wash my own corvettes or any of my cars in general but specially with the C7 Corvette zo6 I go a little further with the detail and everytime I wash it, I always pop the hood/trunk/doors and gas cap area and use a blower to dry it and get into every little crevices.. As beautiful as these cars are ,it doesn't hurt to go the extra mile, I always get compliments on how clean my engine bay is when showing it at car meets or even when I get it serviced..Anyways ,great video and of course beautiful car.. Enjoy!

The MUD FLAP is called your inner fender well. Your rear trunk is for heating TV dinners or didn't you read your owner's manual.Launch control operates like this, press pedal to floor for smoke,lift foot off of pedal for traction. Easy peasy and you don't even have to mess with an extra pedal and that funny thing jutting up from the center console inscribed with numerals 1 through 6. I would've thought Chevrolet would have at least offered you a choice of row your own or slush box for 120K.
Launch control will engage if you push traction control twice slowly while you are in sport or higher. You will then have the option to select what assist mode you want it in. Wet, dry, race 1 and 2 and competition etc. These all make a big difference in the launching. You switch these with the mode select wheel. You can be in launch mode in less than 3 seconds. Lol!
Launch control is super easy to access when u set it up in Z mode. Set it up once and after that you literally press z button 2x and it's ready. YOU PRESS THE Z BUTTON 2X AND UR READY. HOW IS THAT HARD?🤣🤣🤣

Soft close for frunk coming in 2024, and there are aftermarket side vent and front radiator grill guards available. Love the car, and if I'm being honest the stingray emblem mishap in the unveiling video is what got me to sub.!
You should ceramic coat everything you can reach in the engine bay…then buy a master blaster to blow out the water after cleaning…it’s no big deal and my 2020 sr looks better than your z bay…my z has arrived at the dealer and I will be receiving soon…it will get a full ceramic coating…I also use the blaster to achieve a touch free dry on the car…
Thanks for the feedback. I'd say the only one concerning is the one for the intake, hmm. I wonder if GM will do fixes for that. Buffeting, my Chevy Volt does that as well as most new cars, blame tech for being so good at sealing the car and aero. Don't care.
A guy I know that owned the first accelerate Yelow C8 Z06 in my town car caught on fire.. It had 5,000 miles on it. The heat in the rear engine bay set something on fire. The Chevy dealer couldn't determine the cause of the fire after extensive investigation. The insurance totaled the car. The guy is out of his dream car. They needed a better cooling system in the rear..
Get a water deionizer. When you wash your car, it will avoid water spotting without having to hand dry. I’ve used a deionizer on my collector cars and it keeps everything under the hood clean with a simple rinse.
Great honest assessment of the Z06.As nice as the car is i wouldnt pay over MSRP for one.Ive owned a few Corvettes and have had trouble with all of them.Good luck.

No matter how great a thing is, some people are going to always find something to complain about. As far as the heat is concerned and placing perishable goods back there, are such cars like Ferrari suffer from the same issue. As for water and dirt getting onto the shelf in the engine compartment just wipe the shelf down when you clean it. They are not going to be able to satisfy everyone. I guess this is the reason why they have other brand cars.

Can confirm but it is not sold by GM, which is weird, I have on my Stingray, and it helps, although it does protrude out much more than in inch more than the standard one, but maybe that is enough.
Getting in to PTM mode can be an issue with the traction control button. A quick 2 minute search will tell you push the z mode twice and you will be in PTM Mode. From there just turn the PTM dial to DRY or Sport and you have Launch control (Stay away from Race 1 or 2 if you aren't a experienced track driver an have excellent car control skills) Z mode is a custom setting for quick deployment of your choice PTM Mode, just like my mode is set up as your custom mode for regular driving. You can set up Zmode to be any PTM Mode, Dry setting is probably the safest for those not experienced.
Wow thanks for mentioning the wind buffering. That drove me nuts on the MK5 supra… had to buy the side mirror pieces just to enjoy my car. The C8 must be bought in convertible for sure!

Meh. Nothing wrong with this car. These cars are rich kids toys and are not meant to be practical. They are built for excitement, HP and to turn heads. Mission accomplished! GM did what it set out to do. Great video for those thinking about buying one. That said, no biggie. You can probably sell for about the same price you bought it. People don't care about the trunk getting hot. They will still love it. It's a stunning car. Enjoy it and just don't bring your surfboard.
Those shallow rock guards won't interfere with the aero on the car. There are already aftermarket rock guards for the c8 zo6 on the market. Also, custom heat wraps are also available.
Perhaps you didn’t read the launch control instructions in the owner manual but you can’t get the car in launch control from in tour mode, only in sport or track mode amd all you have to do is put it in sport or track mode and pues the traction bottom twice and that’s it!
As far as the engine/ bay getting wet don’t drive it the rain and wash the car without running water over those areas, yes I have a mid engine supper-car and the engine had never been wet. Great video and car!
Question, isn't the targa top designed to give you the open feel effect of a convertible without the headaches of having a convertible? All these years I could never figure out why people remove the targa top or put down their convertible top and then roll up the windows all the way up? At that point why not leave the top on and just roll down the window? Are they trying to be cool with the top off and hiding behind their tinted windows? As a Corvette owner for over thirty years can someone explain this? The only thing that drives me crazier living in the northeast, is when the winter weather gives us a break and we have a slightly warmer day (but still cold out) and you see that person driving a convertible with the top down. But they are wearing a ski mask, winter gloves and a winter coat and obviously have the heat cranking???? Or the best one was a guy in one of those big fur Russian winter hats driving with his convertible top down. Totally confused!
Not sure how much of a car guy you really are. The car is composite so your chances of "denting" are most likely zero. The launch control procedure you use is wrong! If you want to reduce the windnoise with the roof of, there is a great product made by Speedway Composites that attaches the same as the roof panel is very well built and will reduce the noise by 70% minimum. Dave McCauley is a great guy order one you won't be disappointed.
Have you eard about the internet? Look for extended mudflap for your car. There are at least 3 different companies who make them. Take a 10mm socket and 10 minutes to male the change. Keep your engine bay dry? Check out quinten racing. They make plugs you can put in the vents for when you wash your car.. works great. Lunch control? Put it in sport or track and push the traction button.. not very complicated.. Seriously dude..
put in sport or track mode and then hit traction control twice - now hold the brake and put the gas to the floor. (btw you can adjust launch rpm and spin in PTM mode (which is track mode / competative drive mode)).
I think your complaints are real and legitimate. How else would GM get better in QI with these delicately built automobiles? And I won't discredit your opinion but my suggestion is you should sell the ZO6 or trade it in for a brand new Dodge Challenger Hellcat Redeye built tough. Plenty of trunk space, power, pleasing to look at and without having to break a sweat to set up your Launch Control.
Hey bud solid video. I do ceramic coatings and have coated 6 Z06 vettes now. The rear glass area over the engine is the number one client concern I get- and get it pretty much first thing, sometimes second and third thing! I coat that entire area using the same coating I use on the wheels(high temp) and it almost solves that issue entirely. I also suggest to clients to wash the car top to bottom, front to back to avoid flooding that area. Using a blower like the handheld Blo model solves any remaining water standing…
Wait, that new car even came with a warranty?!?! OMG! Yeah, the trunk is next to a crazy motor. Not surprised it gets hot. You can hit the track and warm up your lunch in the trunk. That's a design bonus if you like warm hot pockets.
I'm almost disappointed I watched this, mainly because you don't know how to work your car and refuse to read the owners manual. Launch control is easy to engage, you need to be in Sport or Track mode unless you use Z mode with race settings, then push Traction control button twice. DONE! There are countless videos on TH-cam showing this.... so either this is bad Click bait or lack of effort to learn your car which is part of the problem with most owners who complain about the smallest things.

I can't believe no one pick up on your issues with "launch mode unavailable". If you look back on your video as I did, you'll notice your targa top is not properly latched. Im thinking this is a safety issue? The Computer may be saying "woah, I cant let this yahoo launch me, cause his roof will be behind him on the road getting run over"????? If it doesn't monitor your roof latch, it should. Also read the manual or watch other tons of videos that show the correct, EASY ways of launching your C8 before you post.

It is a race car inspired vehicle...but yes people with money using these specialty vehicles as daily drivers will face these issues. I myself have a c7 z06 but don't daily drive it was bought for track purposes only. Yes overheats and render it useless on the track. Could not trade it in but hopefully GM gives me money back for upgrades or they upgrade it. Yes there is a lawsuit. And this video makes me clearly understand the answer to the why's....you know why? Answer is cause race car says the guy with a Mazda mistake with a bad ass LS engine in it.
I went out to look at a 2024 and I was out to buy that baby but I backed out because of those vents.I live down the shore and that wind is kicking and it’s raining that water is coming this way I’m coming that way and I’m not gonna spend all that money on a car that the world is going to get in there and I’ve watched all the videos on TH-cam and where those C8 blocks that you could put over there butI would be very disappointing about having to cover my engine and wiping it down all the time and even snow getting in there and like I say to the wind and the rain gusting it’ll get right on the side back window and in the vents too so I’m one person that did not buy one just because it expense and the design of that so what did you say😢
I would probably also complain honestly about some of the same things. The 1st thing about the intake and rocks getting in there from the wheels is very real & very bothersome.
Rocks from the front tire plus grids for the air intake are easy fixes. (1&2) * There are grid screen available for the intakes, btw. (3) Rear storage.. Well it's behind the engine, more insulation only delays the heat transfer. More insulation, more weight, put stuff in the back that won't be impacted by heat. (4). Dirt in engine bay... (5) It's an engine bay, they get dirty. Is it a show car or a 'driver". Poor design... no not really, again it's an engine bay! (6) Front hood latch... Electronic..... why not, OK, here goes...it's open and closed less than the rear trunk, so "More weight" and ultimately less reliable, more money, less value - that's why. (6)Targa Top like the C4 Corvette! not the Porsche, LOL Taking the top off, (wind noise). LOL. It is naturally going to make noise, it's a physics issue, not a design issue. Drive with the windows down, easy driver fix LOL. (7) Launch control.... try reading the manual, "come on", brother! You bought an incredibly priced exotic car for less than half of the others. Everything you mentioned would have added a ton of sticky tack itemsand costs that are easier remedied by the owner. If it's a problem fix it yourself. If you don't like it, sell it!
Quick tip on that surf wax. Take a paper towel down and iron it. Soaks up the wax. Great observations on the design of the car. Unless you are or a former Corvette owner, you won’t get it.
maybe launch control has a temperature cutoff. You didn't look to be at operating temperature. 195-220 launching cold is inadvisable. know your machine temperature tolerance ranges and ALWAYS keep them in mind.

This car is the Chevy Corvette I have waited my whole life to own. The problem I'm having is trying to buy one. I've been dealing with an exceptionally honest dealer Aaron Miller, but the whole team is exceptional at ( Leach Wilson) in Shelbyville IL. They told me from day one that they would sell the car to me at sticker there . I've been waiting for 3 years now to get one. The dealerships have been gouging the customers, and Chevy hasn't been sending them anywhere but to a few chosen dealerships. Some of the people I know have decided not to buy one now. They moved off and bought Audi's or Porsche's. Chevrolet you need to try to get out to the other markets, I've been a Chevy guy, especially performance Chevy, since I was 17. ( I owned a 70 Chevelle SS 396) Now that I've raised my family and waited my whole life, I want the car of my dreams. Please get it to us Chevy purists!

you can buy mudflaps with a bigger flare. I got some and installed them in about 10 minutes on all four wheels

Make your own splash guard that’s the best solution

Those shallow rock guards won't interfere with the aero on the car. There are already aftermarket rock guards for the c8 zo6 on the market. Also, custom heat wraps are also available.

Perhaps you didn’t read the launch control instructions in the owner manual but you can’t get the car in launch control from in tour mode, only in sport or track mode amd all you have to do is put it in sport or track mode and pues the traction bottom twice and that’s it!
As far as the engine/ bay getting wet don’t drive it the rain and wash the car without running water over those areas, yes I have a mid engine supper-car and the engine had never been wet. Great video and car!
Get some paint protection film & maybe aftermarket side skirts that may give added protection

Question, isn't the targa top designed to give you the open feel effect of a convertible without the headaches of having a convertible? All these years I could never figure out why people remove the targa top or put down their convertible top and then roll up the windows all the way up? At that point why not leave the top on and just roll down the window? Are they trying to be cool with the top off and hiding behind their tinted windows? As a Corvette owner for over thirty years can someone explain this? The only thing that drives me crazier living in the northeast, is when the winter weather gives us a break and we have a slightly warmer day (but still cold out) and you see that person driving a convertible with the top down. But they are wearing a ski mask, winter gloves and a winter coat and obviously have the heat cranking???? Or the best one was a guy in one of those big fur Russian winter hats driving with his convertible top down. Totally confused!
All of your complaints can be solved with after market parts that are easy to install , good luck and enjoy your beautiful car .
Not sure how much of a car guy you really are. The car is composite so your chances of "denting" are most likely zero. The launch control procedure you use is wrong! If you want to reduce the windnoise with the roof of, there is a great product made by Speedway Composites that attaches the same as the roof panel is very well built and will reduce the noise by 70% minimum. Dave McCauley is a great guy order one you won't be disappointed.

Look for extended mudflap for your car. There are at least 3 different companies who make them. Take a 10mm socket and 10 minutes to male the change.
Keep your engine bay dry? Check out quinten racing. They make plugs you can put in the vents for when you wash your car.. works great.
Lunch control? Put it in sport or track and push the traction button.. not very complicated..

put in sport or track mode and then hit traction control twice - now hold the brake and put the gas to the floor. (btw you can adjust launch rpm and spin in PTM mode (which is track mode / competative drive mode)).

The dirty engine compartment and targa buffeting can be cured by buying an HTC. The ‘24 models have the self-closing frunk.
Use F11 you don’t need water to wash it, I use it all the time on our new BWW and Bronco, it work great.
I think your complaints are real and legitimate. How else would GM get better in QI with these delicately built automobiles? And I won't discredit your opinion but my suggestion is you should sell the ZO6 or trade it in for a brand new Dodge Challenger Hellcat Redeye built tough. Plenty of trunk space, power, pleasing to look at and without having to break a sweat to set up your Launch Control.
Hey bud solid video. I do ceramic coatings and have coated 6 Z06 vettes now. The rear glass area over the engine is the number one client concern I get- and get it pretty much first thing, sometimes second and third thing! I coat that entire area using the same coating I use on the wheels(high temp) and it almost solves that issue entirely. I also suggest to clients to wash the car top to bottom, front to back to avoid flooding that area. Using a blower like the handheld Blo model solves any remaining water standing…
The convertible doesn’t have the aerodynamic noise issues and the engine bay is not exposed to the weather.
Wait, that new car even came with a warranty?!?! OMG! Yeah, the trunk is next to a crazy motor. Not surprised it gets hot. You can hit the track and warm up your lunch in the trunk. That's a design bonus if you like warm hot pockets.
I'm almost disappointed I watched this, mainly because you don't know how to work your car and refuse to read the owners manual. Launch control is easy to engage, you need to be in Sport or Track mode unless you use Z mode with race settings, then push Traction control button twice. DONE! There are countless videos on TH-cam showing this.... so either this is bad Click bait or lack of effort to learn your car which is part of the problem with most owners who complain about the smallest things.

I can't believe no one pick up on your issues with "launch mode unavailable". If you look back on your video as I did, you'll notice your targa top is not properly latched. Im thinking this is a safety issue? The Computer may be saying "woah, I cant let this yahoo launch me, cause his roof will be behind him on the road getting run over"????? If it doesn't monitor your roof latch, it should. Also read the manual or watch other tons of videos that show the correct, EASY ways of launching your C8 before you post.

It is a race car inspired vehicle...but yes people with money using these specialty vehicles as daily drivers will face these issues. I myself have a c7 z06 but don't daily drive it was bought for track purposes only. Yes overheats and render it useless on the track. Could not trade it in but hopefully GM gives me money back for upgrades or they upgrade it. Yes there is a lawsuit. And this video makes me clearly understand the answer to the why's....you know why? Answer is cause race car says the guy with a Mazda mistake with a bad ass LS engine in it.

I went out to look at a 2024 and I was out to buy that baby but I backed out because of those vents.I live down the shore and that wind is kicking and it’s raining that water is coming this way I’m coming that way and I’m not gonna spend all that money on a car that the world is going to get in there and I’ve watched all the videos on TH-cam and where those C8 blocks that you could put over there butI would be very disappointing about having to cover my engine and wiping it down all the time and even snow getting in there and like I say to the wind and the rain gusting it’ll get right on the side back window and in the vents too so I’m one person that did not buy one just because it expense and the design of that so what did you say😢
That first problem you gave re the rocks would ruin the whole C8 experience for me.
I would probably also complain honestly about some of the same things. The 1st thing about the intake and rocks getting in there from the wheels is very real & very bothersome.
Rocks from the front tire plus grids for the air intake are easy fixes. (1&2) * There are grid screen available for the intakes, btw. (3) Rear storage.. Well it's behind the engine, more insulation only delays the heat transfer. More insulation, more weight, put stuff in the back that won't be impacted by heat. (4). Dirt in engine bay... (5) It's an engine bay, they get dirty. Is it a show car or a 'driver". Poor design... no not really, again it's an engine bay! (6) Front hood latch... Electronic..... why not, OK, here goes...it's open and closed less than the rear trunk, so "More weight" and ultimately less reliable, more money, less value - that's why. (6)Targa Top like the C4 Corvette! not the Porsche, LOL Taking the top off, (wind noise). LOL. It is naturally going to make noise, it's a physics issue, not a design issue. Drive with the windows down, easy driver fix LOL. (7) Launch control.... try reading the manual, "come on", brother! You bought an incredibly priced exotic car for less than half of the others. Everything you mentioned would have added a ton of sticky tack itemsand costs that are easier remedied by the owner. If it's a problem fix it yourself. If you don't like it, sell it!
Quick tip on that surf wax. Take a paper towel down and iron it. Soaks up the wax. Great observations on the design of the car. Unless you are or a former Corvette owner, you won’t get it.
maybe launch control has a temperature cutoff. You didn't look to be at operating temperature. 195-220 launching cold is inadvisable. know your machine temperature tolerance ranges and ALWAYS keep them in mind.

This car is the Chevy Corvette I have waited my whole life to own. The problem I'm having is trying to buy one. I've been dealing with an exceptionally honest dealer Aaron Miller, but the whole team is exceptional at ( Leach Wilson) in Shelbyville IL. They told me from day one that they would sell the car to me at sticker there . I've been waiting for 3 years now to get one. The dealerships have been gouging the customers, and Chevy hasn't been sending them anywhere but to a few chosen dealerships. Some of the people I know have decided not to buy one now. They moved off and bought Audi's or Porsche's. Chevrolet you need to try to get out to the other markets, I've been a Chevy guy, especially performance Chevy, since I was 17. ( I owned a 70 Chevelle SS 396) Now that I've raised my family and waited my whole life, I want the car of my dreams. Please get it to us Chevy purists!
