Great adolescent bike, adult learner bike, wifey bike, camp fun bike. Easy to ride, slow power delivery out of 1/2/3. Just tromps away like a tractor. Wish I wasn't 6'2 and 210#, I regretted selling it. First year riding bikes for me at 45 years olf 😂 was great to learn on! Cool YZ125 front fork upgrade 👌 😎
I'm really intriqued by this little bike. I owned a DR650 for 10 years which I sold recently. Loved the simplicity of the big DR and took it many places it wasn't really designed to go but I would like something a bit smaller now to have fun on more technical terrain. This really looks like mini DR to me and your review has been very helpful so thanks for sharing. I have a question about the gearing which would be great if you can answer. Is first gear really slow? A low first would be great when climbing steep hills in technical terrain is why I ask.
Yeah the bike is geared pretty low. 1st gear is really low, I usually end up using 2nd gear for most technical stuff, and it has a decent amount of low end torque for a 230.
Beautiful bike bro! Just picked up a '21 Raptor 700R-SE for myself. The ultimate big bore quad! Now.. I need a nice Yamaha dirt bike for my son. Hes beginner-intermediate. Love Yamahas been riding/racing 35yrs+ so.. want get my boy started on a Yamaha. Hes great @ maintenance & helps me on fleet of Ford F250 work trucks we run daily. So, what's ur next Yamaha? Thanks.
If you look it up online it saying anywhere from 70 mph to 80. Now those numbers are based off the bike brand new and under ideal conditions. I’ve personally gotten to about 50 mph in the bottom of 6th gear so I would believe it can get into the 70’s.
I’ve got a few comments on this video saying the same thing. In my experience being within the recommended height for the bike usual works best, that’s not at all saying someone under that height can’t ride that bike.
Well done on the review - I have the same year bike. Change the oil and keep a clean air filter in it - it WILL last forever.

Cool YZ125 front fork upgrade 👌 😎
Thank you for the review. I picked one up for my sons first bike.
Great bikes, I've got a 09 myself and had an 09 CRF230 previously. Can't kill these bikes, and believe me I've tried!
Nice video. Those front forks are not stock. They came from a motocross bike of some kind. They look expensive.
Yz125 fork conversion, its popular on the ttr 230's
@@turftamer4629 do you have more info on this swap? Is your rear shock upgraded too?
More info please!
No mention about the yz forks?
Going tomorrow to go get a 2017 model, just looking for something for casual riding and this looks great for it
Great video, TTR's are Great Bikes
The chain is .. blue?

I own a 2005 Yamaha TTR 230 and first gear is so low it’s almost unusable lol!
did u change the forks on it
im interested in dirt biking but i dont know what bike to start with. What do u recommend. im 17 btw
I recommend a 250 4 stroke or a 125 2 stroke. Some good bikes are a Honda crf250 or a yz250f, anything Yamaha or Honda is good

next would probably be a yz-125
Did you do the mod to the inverted forks? If yes, can you tell me what you used
They are off a yz125 or yz250f
Just forks or the whole front end
Did you use the triple clamps from the YZ?
Not sure. The previous owner did most of the swap work I just finished it up.
What are those forks off of ?
Believe they are off a yz125 or yz250
Which year yz? Will the ttr230 front wheel and brake work on the ya forks?
@@oceantri I’m not to sure of the year but I am guessing they are off of a 2003. And yes the ttr wheels should be compatible with the yz forks
“If your not like 5’ 8” or 5’ 7” you may be a little too short for it”
Me: *5’ 5”*
im 5’3 13yo and ride it 😂
Is it stock suspension you have on it? if it isnt what suspension did you get?
looks like the front has a yz125 conversion with is a common swap on these bikes
@@entrluzrnaam ok thanks
Can you ride it on a motocross track
Technically you can but you
Won’t win any races with it.
@@TrailJoe I was thinking about buying a Ttr230 however I need my research and found out they are heavy, slow and around suck
@@JasonPerry-uq3cb yeah there is some hate on them, they are pretty much just reliable and meant for casual trail riding.
@@TrailJoe yeah they are reliable that is what I found out
Great video, thank you!
I would be comfortable with a bike that heavy, I would can stuck if I fell.
Do you think it can handle glamis sand
Yes !

Can you do a wheelie on ot
It
Yes you can, it’s a heavy bike but if you give it enough gas you can wheelie it!
No way this bike goes over 120Km per hour I have one my self and it tops off at about 90 Km per hour

I love haters. I smoke bigger bikes all day at durhamtown

I’m 12.5 years old in 5ft2 and I have one
Broooo the heigh doesn’t matter bro I’m 5’4 and I’m hitting back roads and turns hard asf so it doesn’t matter

How tall are you?
Online it should say the recommended height for the rider.
The yz125x is light asf and it probably runs the trails better than that thing🤷🏻♀️ the weight isn’t a huge issues
