Same! I was just about to write and say Skiboarding with Dave and friends is what brought me to the channel years ago. It is still some of my favorite content.
Great to have new ski board content and look forward to you persuading the crew to join you ...... Testies on the slope ...... Just getting by13 yr old into ski boarding with some 2nd hand line boards.... He would love rvl8's but difficult to get in Europe...... Keep the ski boarding content coming 😎😎👍
I love your skiboard content, and fuck yeah if I will go so frequently that I take powder days, I will get rvl8. Until I'm fine with short stuff, but yeah in Europe its even more rare. Some resort doesnt even allow snowskates so skiboards should be still a good go! Thanks for keeping the sport alive!
I just got back from Revelstoke. In the past weve stayed in our trailer. This year after all the new development in their parking lots, they said no more overnight camping! Most likely due to people not having proper facilities for waste. Ive seen turd piles in the lots before which is what killed this for everyone.
YESSS! Stoked to see skiboard content and great to see the new graphic on snow. Crested Butte is on my list for after the new year to explore and put the new sticks through the paces over a few days. Great video, looking forward to more this season!
I'll be taking my first pair of skiboards (rvl8 Slapdash) to Loveland this week, cant wait! I've been watching your skibord vids in anticipation of getting and trying these out, hoping it's my new winter sport.
Watching your skiboard videos made me give some shorter 99 salomon skiis a try and i enjoyed the freedom so much more that i went the whole mile and bought proper skiboards now. My local mountin opens this saturday and im so stoked. Love your videos 😊
Hi Talon. I know, I know, I'm kinda late. But after all theses years I finally grabbed some skiboards and will try them out in two days. I am already stoked. Keep pushing those skiboard videos 🙌
My guess is that 1) resorts are concerned about being held liable for accidents, injuries, or other incidents involving guests staying in their parking lots overnight. 2) Local laws and zoning regulations may prohibit overnight stays in parking lots, which may be considered camping or an unauthorized use of the land. 3) Overnight parking might make snow removal difficult with cars in the lot.
I know it’s very far away but Mt.Bohemia in the upper peninsula of Michigan allows you to camp there. It’s not out west but it’s a pretty sweet place, check it out
Right there with ya, Talon! We have a campervan and have looked in Summit County for places to overnight camp but there's just nothing available. One option, if you don't mind paying, is Tiger Run Resort in Breck but it's pricey. Back in the day, ABasin allowed overnight camping and was the go-to place for locals. Sadly, those days are long gone.
I subscribed to you specifically because of skiboard content. Currently running blunts, revolt trees, and surprisingly....bantams lol. All on soft boot setup.
@@TalonSei Bantams are on the novelty side of things. Tight tight corduroy for inline feel. Also not the best for soft boot but it's fun. The blunts are so much fun. I enjoy your other content but skiboard stuff is awesome!
FYI You should be able to park your van overnight at the Walmart in Frisco for free. Not exactly camping but beats driving back and forth to home. Enjoyed your ski board video.
Agreed about overnight camping. I've found a few resorts in CA that allow it but don't advertise it. Also having a Snopark pass is a good backup plan, but not all parks allow it.
Just to throw an alternative out there for you. Summit county Elk lodge is 17 mins away. The Elks are national and most will let you camp in their parking lot overnight, for a small donation. You'd need to be a member, but it really expands your places to crash, and there's quite a few in pretty places. Here in the North East, Stowe has camping I believe, but Burlington also has an Elk Lodge. Bonus, they usually have a bar, and often a dinner or two a week. Many have RV hook ups or a power connection.
I did this in my 4runner for about 3-4 months in the winter for the past few years across the whole country. Winter park let's you park in G lot for free (at least they have in the past) and that's not toooooo far from Keystone. I have a secret spot near Keystone that I stayed at that is about 7-8 minutes away that is technically legal as long as you don't camp (is staying in car camping?). Colorado is by far the hardest ski state to find a spot to stay but it can still be done. And as you said alot of smaller resorts don't mind if you camp out so hit up those too!
I have my gripes about trying to car camp in Colorado and I live here. Its honestly been ruined with the sprinter van cult over the past 5 year's and also sanitation issues. But there are spots if you make the right friends or just take chances on some fs roads away from the resort.
I have a Scout Olympic on order specifically for snowboarding trips. Plan is to hit Revelstoke, Big Sky and Steamboat this season. Guess I’ll have to get creative with my overnight “parking”
Same situation here in California. Lots of amazing places to camp out near Mammoth but they are all about an hour away. At least some of those sites are next to hot springs.
Shorty skis are great. Just be careful with the wire style bindings. Super prone to leg injuries, especially spiral fractures... ouchy! Maybe check into mounting regular alpine bindings to them.
Out in the Northwest this is not a problem, tons of the resorts in Washington and Oregon allow overnight parking, the only problem is the parking lot turns into a big party ;)
Excellent content in your vids mate. After over twenty years on skis, this season I've decided I want to try something different, so I've bought a couple of pairs of skiboards and will be out on them instead. Never ridden on skiboards before, but they look like everyone is having fun on them. I'll find out for myself in three weeks!
Great content! I got some Condors last year and love them EXCEPT for maneuvering on flat ground or the slightest uphill. Haven’t mastered that yet 😂. I’m considering using poles this year until I improve my skills. 🤷🏼♂️
@talonsei I have parked my van in the parking lot at hungry dog in breck. Most bars / restaurants in summit county are cool with vans if you ask first!
So true with the overnight camping. it's becoming so hard these days. it's the same over here in Europe. There are so few places to camp on the mountains now. some good places in Italy still though
No snow worth talking about in Durango so far, but it's skiable. We've got some good snow around Wolf Creek, but there's really nothing except 50° temps and clear skies in the forecast until New Years. I'm heading out to visit family im Southern Oregon and I'll hit up Mt. Ashland while I'm there. Small mountain, no actual resort, but some of the deepest and steepest runs on the West Coast.
That’s so cool. I’ve never heard of ski boards before and I literally was just up skiing At Mount Hood Meadows two days ago would you say that the ski boards are like a good middle ground between skis and snowboarding or is it a whole different beast?
I am sick of people telling other people how to recreate! If you want to ski, board, telemark, ski board, snow skate or with biking XC, DH, e-bike, enduro…whatever -let people do what they want and just because it’s different from what you like -doesn’t mean it’s wrong!
One of the reasons I bought a 4x4 van 6 years ago was for skiing - head up the night before and not deal with morning I70 traffic. I assumed it would be all good in the parking lots. I was naive. I had no idea how hard it would be to find camping in Summit County. Wouldn’t it be nice if some of the National Forest campgrounds could be open? Stealth I guess or go somewhere outside of Summit County.
Hey! Pretty sure Copper Mtn allows overnight parking on their lot. Might be some stealth camping but it’s not monitored too much. Question, how come you ski epic and not ikon?
Talon Sei could you sell pair of DLPs? i live in finland and i am trying to get my hands on skiboards but they are too expensive from online.. In finland almost no one knows what skiboarding is lol
we got a little surprise powder day last friday at keystone which was lovely. I think The issue is vail resorts don't care about Denver "locals", were about the only locals the mountain will get since no one can actually afford to live in those towns. We buy the yearly pass, drive up, eat something we brought or eat in frisco or somethin, then head home. We really dont give the mountain much money compared to those coming in from other states/countries. Not being able to camp anywhere near the resort is kind of a "F you, spend money at our hotel" move. Vail does not wanna cater to us, were not their customers, were an annoyance that happens to live near "their" mountains. Anyways all that to say front range locals should get a car hostel going. buy a big lot in silverthorne, charge $15/spot, throw a porta-potty there, have a powder curfew so people dont trash the place and party it up too much, maybe some spots with outlets. Id invest in that. Its time for Coloradans to start taking the mountains back from vail
Colorado got a couple epic snow storms in November that allowed the ski resorts to open a lot of runs earlier than normal. I agree, I really wish there were _some_ place to car/van camp overnight. I've been itching to use my Tesla camp mode. Staying overnight in the mountains during core season can be extremely expensive even at crummy motels. I will say that early season can be a great deal - I got ski in/out on Breck peak 9 (Beaver Run) for $148/night in early December - there is a parking fee and I think a resort fee, so probably close to $200/night all in. Still, for ski in/out, it was a good deal.
Skiboarding content is my favorite, it's what brought me to this channel years ago. Keep up the good work!
Same! I was just about to write and say Skiboarding with Dave and friends is what brought me to the channel years ago. It is still some of my favorite content.

100% agree on overnight parking. They should try a paid lot. Love the ski board content!

great to see you back on skiboards man! Started last week here 😍 cheers from Italy

Enjoyed the ski boarding video Talon thanks! Missing it right now. Look forward to more.
Ever time you make thes videos makes me want to try ski boarding and the orange graphics are 🔥
Just got my first pair of skiboards and im stoked! Idk how more ppl arent riding these smh
Come to Mt. Bachelor in Bend! I think it's $40 to camp in the lot overnight, with bathrooms and showers included.
I'll be taking my first pair of skiboards (rvl8 Slapdash) to Loveland this week, cant wait! I've been watching your skibord vids in anticipation of getting and trying these out, hoping it's my new winter sport.
Completely AGREE! PAID LOT - EASY MONEY!

Dope! You’re going to have a blast!
I'm not a skiboarder myself but I love the skiboard content. Do what you love, haters be damned.
It's because the condo owners don't like it.
I know it’s very far away but Mt.Bohemia in the upper peninsula of Michigan allows you to camp there. It’s not out west but it’s a pretty sweet place, check it out
I’ve missed the van ski lodge type
Videos ! DOPE 🔥

Bantams were the first RVL8 boards I ever rode back in probably 2008 🤘🏼 glad you are one of the few who enjoy these videos!

Let’s ride when you’re back in town! I know a spot between keystone and a basin that you can camp at too.
Agreed about overnight camping. I've found a few resorts in CA that allow it but don't advertise it. Also having a Snopark pass is a good backup plan, but not all parks allow it.
Nothing like waking up in the Revel to some fresh pow!

Stowe is absolutely not when it comes to overnight parking….Vail resorts owns them now
Killington has a dedicated lot down by the skyship gondola or whatever the other gondola is called that's not K1 lol

Maverick has the best breakfast burritos!
Ahh sick video.

Great video Talon, glad your out sking a bit early. I will be out in Colorado late Jan Early Feb to ski a bunch with some storytellers and Revels.

I got those same skiis off ur review they are awesome

What's up new friend! I have time to board mid week and I'm on the east coast. Let's get the runs in homie!
Resorts in the PNW and throughout Montana are great about allowing overnight parking and have clear policies. Utah and Colorado, not so much.
The old SEI playmakers are still kicking… but orange 👀

Come out to Aspen and ill rip some skiboards with ya!!!
Right? Why does he come to Colorado, but skips the best resort...😢😬
Luv the Video, keep it up.
Blow out the water system with compressed air. Rv shops have the fittings specifically for this purpose. Forget the pink stuff for winterizing.
Hey winter park has that overnight lot you can stay at but that doesn't really help if you got the epic pass
Van is looking good. I put the AlphaRex on during summer and love them.
Thanks man! They are a great option especially for people with halogen lights 🤌🏼

Skiiiiiboaaaaards!!!
I heard there are lots of areas in mammoth lakes CA to ski and camp.
agreed. Let me pay 10 bucks to park in the back 40. cap it at 4 nights.
Hello i am 9 foot 2 and 83 pounds. Which skiboards should i ride? If i dont like them its your fault.
Bantams for sure. Best all around board for big dudes can’t go wrong 👌🏼 (this is a joke for anyone else who reads this and doesn’t understand) 😂
@ i decided to go with ktps since kirk and i are pretty similar in stature

must be a colorado thing because all over Idaho your good to go. Washington too as far as I know.
You cant camp overnight in a snow park in Colorado?
Just curious, why not use a release binding with ski boards? Seems like more risk than necessary, but I’ll admit I know nothing about them.
Lower center of gravity, lighter, more control. Technically “more risky” than release but I have been riding non release forever and prefer them.
@ Thank you for the explanation. Always enjoy your channel and adventures. Best wishes to you for the holidays.
Learned on 130s with release bindings and poles, real hoot, back when you'd get the stink eye wearing shorties.
With the 4x4 bolt pattern could I run my snowboard bindings
Yup, rvl8 offers an adapter for soft boot setups using snowboard boots and bindings.
will you please review a remote van?
Actually going to try skiboards this year, got some from j ski, still trying to figure out bindings tho
Unfortunately J Skis do not have 4x4 inserts so your options for bindings become a little limited. I’m sure they are still super fun tho!
Welch's Ghosts are soooo good.
Sooo damn good haha
On the camping thing: Its a summit county law that makes it not allowed. You can get away with it in frisco if you're sneaky
It’s not just summit county or Colorado tho, it’s a large majority of resorts across the country. Nothing we can do about it, it’s just unfortunate.

Tell us about the bibs
Paid lots for campers would be awesome. The same problem exists near surf breaks. Beach and ski bums really ruined the fun for everyone.
Would be sick to show you around keystone!
Also are there any ways to demo SkiBoards?
