Mr Ruggiero's Neighbourhood. One of the best episodes of the show. And this mash up is even more impressive for the fact that it was done by one of the producers at HBO without any prior musical production knowledge. Bet Sting loves it for the royalties...
Well, it was the first time in the series that we got to see the sopranos from law enforcements viewpoint. This episode gave viewers an external view of Tony, rather than an internal view of Tony(figuratively not literally)
Yeh it is a pretty slow ep since its just about the feds getting into their house to plant the bug but if you think about it it actually paved the way for The Wire's style after it.
Having Just started watching the Sopranos, I am actually amazed at James Gandolfini's acting throughout the series, He is able to convey so much emotion, threat, recklessness, weakess, basically whatever the scene deems necessary in a single look. The Stories are great but to be honest its his acting that keeps me coming back for more. It bums me out that it took the guys death for me to jump into it. RIP.
He could go from vulnerable to ruthless within seconds, just as easily as Livia could go from wicked laugh to fake crying. Tony learned from the master manipulator. Spectacular writing and acting!
I also get goosubumbs. The best part of the episode, matched 100%.Tony and Patsy taking the suit and both enetring the ''meat factory''.Tony ducking becasue hes much bigger :D.Just terrific!!!!!
It recently occurred to me that I had never seen the finale of this show, although I'd watched pretty much every other episode. It was so long ago that I figured I'd better just binge the entire series to get to the end. I totally missed this incredibly seamless blend of these 2 songs when I watched it 20+ years ago. Pure genius!
@@willmelucci2989 Chernobyl’s music was on point. Iirc the composer went down to that ghost town herself and recorded some of the ambience to incorporate into some of the tracks.
Just want to say that I started the Sopranos on HBO Max this month and I am blown away by how it's exceeded my expectations. Tony Soprano is a fantastic character and this scene alone was just so well done.
how can you completely hate the police. I mean I get that music is of course subjective, but what is it about the police could you possible actually 'hate'?
Lol when I first heard it on the show I was like... That sounds like watching you.... Hmm... Sounds more and more like watching you... It is watching you!!! Badass mashup!
MrKp32 what happend at the soprano house is that the water heater blew. My sister used to live up there she was friends with Mrs. Ruggerio . Yup that’s Mr Ruggerios neighborhood
I love this but I don't fully understand how it's supposed to make me feel. On the one hand Peter Gunn's theme is kind of comedic, but The Police's song is quite sombre and serious.
I think it's meant to be a juxtaposition. Kind of like the Yin and the Yang, you have both a positive charge and a negative one. The series doesn't take itself too seriously while at the same time has some very gruesome and hard edged themes. I think the writers wanted something in between; the "gray zone" if you will.
It's amazing how I'm inclined to agree. BB and BCS had tons of great montages, but none of them gripped me like this one did, the music working in tandem with the story and montage itself to build tension until the very end.
I can imagine that guys figthing a week because one wants a spy song and the other was like "Broh, police song lyrics and the fucking name of the band is like perfect" and then comes in the new guy who likes DJ things and plays the mix he did last night getting high... That or someone just making a master piece drinking coffee.

Funny!
That water heater won't last six months.
I got chills when I first heard the guitar riff comes in for Every Breath You Take. Unbelievable scene, this show is timeless
I still do lol, I wish they'd put this on Spotify!
Legit one of the best scenes in the history of TV.
This was ABSOLUTELY PERFECT for the scene it was used in.
Tracy L what was the scene?
Obito when the FBI are trying to wire tap Tony’s house
Couldn’t agree more. What a well done montage.
@Tracy Leicher 100%
preach! Like Thru and Thru at the end of season 2 ...

This is easily one of the most memorable moments in The Sopranos, it always stuck with me. The medley is so fitting with the scene, pure ingenuity
Stuck with mrcgorcyears,as,well. Tonight i just had to findvit. Magical episode. Congrats to all involved.
For an episode where not a whole lot happens, this is one of my favorite scenes of the series because of the use of this mashup.
Season 3 Episode 1 buddy...

Every time I hear the Police song to this day, I recall the scene in The Sopranos where this was played...genius!

I remember buying this CD when it came out and hoping this track would be longer. I wanted like 10 minutes of a Police/Peter Gunn mash up.

Patsy is walking all cool to the beat and hugs tony! Goosebumps everytime!

Unforgettable shot
The music on the show will always be something to behold.
I finally found it. This is genius and I always think about it. The Sopranos was the best show.
0:26 pure chills...
Dick goosebumps
NSA theme song!
I was just gonna call it the CIA theme song, but this works too.
Menacing music interrupted by "I'll be watching you.. " sounds about right
This mashup is great and all. But the best song is when Uncle Junior becomes "Boss" and that Paparazzi instrumental plays!
Your comment is old but it is a much older music. The composition is "Pavane" by Gabriel Fauré(1887)! th-cam.com/video/wQDoN40-_C4/w-d-xo.html

It's rare that tv shows get the music right. Let alone the acting. Just goes to show how perfect this show was. Hbo used to be awesome.

Was great to see an episode that perfectly balanced the police side and the mob side of business.
R.I.P. James Gandolfini
“The coffee maker’s gotta be plugged in for it to work!!”
end of song expecting tony swearing about the water heater
" The guy was an interior decorator!"
His house looked like shit.
Makes sense in the context of "Do you paint houses?"
He killed 50 Czechoslovakians!
The first time I saw this episode I was smoking a blunt and this mashup absolutely BLEW MY MIND
Bill burr: “oh is that what the kids call a mashup? We found two songs with the same tempo and combined them what are the fuckin odds of that?”

My only complaint is that its too short. Should be 10 minutes long.
