It's really unique that Linnanmäki is run by a charity organization (called Children's Day Foundation), whose profits go to child welfare work, instead of the money going into the pockets of large corporations and their share holders. Per year, Linnanmäki collects around 2 million euros for child welfare work. you don't see this much in the world, especially in the amusement park industry. It's nice to visit Linnanmäki, since you know that your money is going to a good cause. Thank you for your great vlog 😊
Kirnu is intamin's zac-spin prototype, so it is actually the first OG zac-spin in the world and intamin later cloned it and and made a bigger version of it. It is not the best ride in the world, but actually I really like the forces Kirnu offers (especially at the first drop). It is a lot smoother and better experience compared to many other zac-spins in my opinion, even though it is a short ride.
Linnanmäki is such a charming little park. Spend two days there in summer 2021. While Taiga had a 45 min line on both days, we still managed to get about 20 rides on this beauty and more than a year later, it’s still my undefeated number one roller coaster. Linnanmäki really is a hidden gem in my opinion. Seeing them getting a Intamin gyro swing just makes me wanna fly to Finnland again🤩
Yep, that upcoming intamin gyro-swing coming to Linnanmäki looks awesome, and the location in which they are going to put it is just insane. I'm definitely going to ride that one in the future when the construction completes.
The rock structures you were seeing are called shields they are very common in Scandinavia and Canada they are pretty much just exposed rock from the earths crust.
Glad to hear that you really enjoyed your time at Linnanmäki! I always attempt to make at least one visit per year to the park, if only to get at least one ride on Taiga and Vuoristorata (that camelback!) It is a very charming park, especially during the Carnival of Light, but experiencing the park in the midnight sun during June is also a wonderful time to visit the park!
Oh, so lovely that you came to Finland and Linnanmäki! I haven't been there for few years so definitely have to go to try out Taiga. The geese at the river rapids are trying to imitate cranes. Magic Circus has horror theeming during Halloween season, so ... imagine that :D I hate that they have taken away the jump scares from the mirror maze, it was awesome back in the day, when the jumpscares came suddenly from the mirrors. And handsome Lauri 😍
The one trip overseas I have taken in my life was to Finland when I was in college. It's so cool to see you guys in the places I explored when I was there. I never went to the amusement park, but I saw if from the train. It is such a beautiful country.
Spinning coaster and Taiga are amazing. Taiga is more extreme so it's understandable that the spinning coaster usually has a longer waiting line on busy days.
A bit late, but if you notice with the ferris wheel behind the flying cinema, there's two unique pods that are more wooden than the others. They are in fact actual sauna's so you can sweat while you go round.
You know I'd kinda like to see more travel days too. We're getting to the point where that's just as fun as the park vlog portions. Maybe do a second channel showing more of the stuff that doesn't really fit here.
A common foreigner's reaction to salmiakki right there, haha! Welcome to Finland, we are kind of crazy here. This video is awesome, I've been waiting for it ever since I watched the one where you guys first rode Taiga.
You should visit a 4DX movie theater similar to the flying cinema. It has moving seats, water effects, fog, strobe, mist, snow, smells, bubbles, and more, but it's for a whole film. It is like a park ride but for a real film. You would really enjoy it. I recommend
Guys, I just love your intro music, it's so great. I love Season 2, keep up the awesome park visits which are giving me inspiration for planning our trips. Happy to report that we are heading back to Phantasialand at Easter to ride FLY as it was closed for our first ever visit in November. We travelled from Ireland so to say I was heartbroken to NOT get the chance to ride FLY is an understatement! I just had to rebook to come back, and the park has gifted us two 1 day passes to help with the cost. How awesome is that!
Great video! Finland is a very interesting country! Yeah I remember in the Norway Vlog them selling black licorice in stores. That's interesting about the cathedral with the Russian architect. I think it's understandable if they don't want it there if it looks too similar to other cathedrals in Russia.
There was, in fact, another E-Motion Coaster built! It was located inside of an old church, in the Amsterdam Dungeon (operated by Merlin), called "Reaper: Drop ride to doom". It was essentially the ride at the very end of the 'tour', and while it had a very short layout (owing to the small space it was built into), it was connected to various physical effects and set pieces, with some 'holding points' along the way, a platform lift, and even a turntable! Unfortunately, it was closed in the mid-2010s and replaced with another exhibit; from what I understand, the maintenance costs were too high and they wanted something 'fresh'. Here's a video of it with the lights on: th-cam.com/video/KWG1Y18A_oA/w-d-xo.html (it normally operated in the dark)
There actually was a second e-Motion coaster in the Netherlands (side note: The whole point is the rocking left-right while traversing the course), but it closed in 2014 and will not reopen.
This feels like the special things that shows do like a Christmas special with like 5 episodes it’s not the big thing but it’s a smaller bonus thing that people do
I think it tells a lot about Taiga, that you are comparing it to five or six different rides! "This have better that than Taiga, but then this other ride have better this than Taiga.." What I mean, Taiga is rather small rollercoaster and packs a lot of punch in to that. Some rides have better highlight moments than Taiga, but Taiga is overall awesome.
Sounds like you 2 had a great time! Shame the woodie isn't running as well as it used to, I know when I went 5 years ago it ran with absolutely insane ejector on several hills, especially the double downs, like on just that one hill you experienced. I've heard Bakkens was like that but even more insane back before they removed their brakemen in 2010. But yeah Linnanmaki is just another really charming city centre amusement park (something which the US could really need more of, I mean the only big example I can think of is maybe Elitch Gardens and maybe some boardwalk parks like Coney island and Moreys piers)
Useless thoughts and trivia about a park you might not come back to. You can tell if Taiga is running fast by the strength of the airtime pop as you slam into the breakrun. Strong ejector = fast. The strong bunny hill on Vuoristorata is quite legendary. On unicorn rides yor thighs can hit the buzzbar. Linnunrata (the indoor coaster) looks like an 80s attraction, but it opened in 2000. It used to have much brighter colors and looked a bit better, but now all the theming is bleak and washed up. I hope they improve or replace it sometime... Tulireki is the second worst coaster in Finland (we have a volaire). Last time I rode it a kid behind me started crying mid ride. The powered coaster was my first credit, and I have a lot of nostalgia for it, but it is kind of a rustbucket nowadays. I hope they remove both Pikajuna and Tulireki and build something better there. Something like Firechaser express would be so nice, but I know the park won't have the budget for it. For a thoosie Kirnu is pointless, but it is a good coaster to experience your first inversion and a face-down drop. Takes up minimal space too, so I think it is a valuable piece of our coaster collection. Ukko would be great if it didn't have as much of a rattle. Still a fun ride for a hangtime junkie like myself. The park knows well just how creepy Taikasirkus is, so during halloween there have been live actors dressed up as clowns to add to the nightmare fuel. Kammokuja would be better if it was just a maze. Last but not least, the drop tower is a must-do in the dark as you get to see all the lights from above.
I've lived my entire life in Helsinki, and I've literally never heard anyone say they want the Uspenski Cathedral gone. Finnish people have a nuanced enough understanding of Eastern cultures that we don't want to demolish a church that's a staple of the skyline of our own capital city just because Russia does dumb stuff like it always does.
I found my way back to this video a year later. About Vuoristorata, if one really wanted to go and translate the name, it would be something like Mountain Track or Mountain Railroad. But then again, vuoristorata IS the Finnish word for roller coaster, so your guide Lauri isn't wrong.
I don't think I've ever heard anyone say they want the Uspenski Cathedral gone. The Finnish orthodox church is not associated with the Russian orthodox church at all and they condemn the invasion of Ukraine. No one I know associates the cathedral with that.
Awesome vid guys! I loved the vast array of haunted attractions and dark rides, but the best JUMP SCARE happens at the 5:55 mark. Hahahhahahahahhahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahhahahahahahhahahaahahhahahaa
Bad candy is very common in Finland. That is why there are people who hand it out to tourists who want to laugh at your reaction to the horrible flavor. I sub to two channels from Finland and one of them finally warned everyone about this happening to tourists so be careful.
😂my family from denmark got us some of the salty licorice when they came. that stuff is absolutely disgusting. btw, you can get cloudberry jam at ikea😉
Those brake man coasters completely rely on the brakeman and how hard he/she brakes. It could be one of the best or one of the most boring wood coasters in Europe dependent on how its being controlled.
