Kisame’s death made him one of my favorite characters. He was a ruthless killer, but loyalty is such a strong and admirable trait to have. He was willing to sacrifice himself for his beliefs and his comrades. It’s almost impossible to leave him off my top 5 favorite characters in the series

I like to think as a partner, Itachi likely protected him as well. This is probably something Kisame never had- someone strong protecting him. Having the mangekyo on your team as well as a team mate who listens to you no matter how absurd you sound should definitely having an emotional impact on a ninja. In addition to all that, Itachi was Kage level in intelligence.

Kisame knew something about Sasori that made him dangerous, it was his tactical mind and strong ambition for puppets. I liked Kisame allot he wasn't afraid of acknowledging someone who is inferior, he was acknowledging that Sasori as a member of the Akatsuki is full of surprises, this was the same dude who acknowledged Deidara to be one of the stronger members of the Akatsuki. I remember a gag in a akatsuki foced episode where kisame remarked he was a little sad about the way he looked. Itachi was probably the first person to look past his looks and take notice that kisame is human not some shark monster. Also another reason i think itachi and kisame got along is because itachi wasnt in it for power or money, he was in the akatsuki to protect sasuke and i really dont think he would kill just kill someone.
