I didn't notice until my second playthrough that the fight with Black is the point in the game where Robin's idle animation changes. She stops bouncing and just seems to be staring blankly ahead. I knew it changed at some point and kept looking for it and. Man. She goes through so much before this point but it's taking Black's life in such a brutal way, seeing how she's suffering, that finally does it.
Black is an example of a villain who isn't really a villain. On the surface, she's a crazy killer who will stop at nothing to ensure your defeat. In reality, she far more than that. She has constant major headaches and has heavy arms. She's lived for over 187 years, and just like with Fitzroy, her mind is deteriorating because it can't keep up. By the time you fight her on the rocket platform, she's lost everything. Her entire life was stolen when Chrome started the uprising, the only person she cared about and potentially loved, Grey, was killed by Elro, all because he was paranoid. Every chance at revenge has been ruined by her incompetent allies. The second fight truly shows how far her sanity has fell. The only reason she fights so hard for the rocket is because that is her last mission, and she doesn't want all those years of suffering to be for nothing.

As funny as the concept of the Birdman is, I really feel like this entire final encounter with Black is the true final boss of the game. It has a lot more impact, and if they decided to end things with a scene on the moon after this fight, I would've been okay with that. The actual ending was.. weird, and felt kinda forced, I dunno lol. They established the worm and had to do _something_ with it, and I'm not entirely sure I agree with what they went with, but eh. Anyway, Black is awesome and easily my favorite character in the game. Seeing her icon in the save menu, and the fact she's important enough to get included on the title screen, I was hoping she'd become a party member, and it was heartbreaking watching her decline into madness up to, and through, the final fight with her. At least she goes out with the best song in the game, though. Goddamn.
I like the ending a lot, because it's a perfect loop. You fight the final boss in the starting area, the character is bird-themed just like Robin, and they're both mechanics. But more than that, it reinforces the main theme of the whole game. Throughout Iconoclasts, you've encountered cults, faiths, beliefs, ways of worship, creeds and more. All of them conflicting with each other, but also within the group. Every chief leader of these groups was celebrated as all-knowing or all-knowing, especially Mother. Yet she dies frightened and afraid, overtaken by Chrome whose misguided beliefs convince him that he's the Chosen one. He too dies with his beliefs shattered. Royal attempts to communicate face to face with the deity they've worshiped, only for it to backfire. After all of that, you find out that this God, deity, figure, is merely another creature, more similar to you than anyone else. It's absurd and somewhat anti-climactic. What does it mean? There aren't any straight answers, but I feel like it's a commentary on how the desperate need for answers to life causes us to worship people who are no more human than we are, and the consequences of that cult behaviour.
Well the seeds react differently to all sources of Ivory, as stated by Mina. However, when it comes to the people killed by it, it came down to their strength. White obviously had no idea what was happening, and likely brushed it off as nothing more than an inconvenient and useless attack. He wasn't fighting the seeds. Mother had much more Ivory in her and likely knew about White's death, so she knew what the seeds could do. However, she is much stronger than White, and was able to resist the seeds, as it took 4 to kill her, as opposed to the 3 for White. As for Black, her will to keep fighting was so strong, and she refused to stop attacking. She refused death so much that the seeds couldn't stop her until she drank herself weak from all the Ivory fuel. Then the blue eyes got to her, and the rest is history.
Now that video game movies are on the rise, and I know this one's a long shot, but an Iconoclasts movie based on the events in the game would be amazing! 👀
The first phase i was like "No, I have to kill her? But i liked her shes cool awwww" then the second phase starts and im like "WHAT THE HELL OK SAD OVER TIME TO DIE"
I have never played this game but holy shit man! This game is giving me feels for no reason, it makes me feel... something... I don't exactly understand this feeling, but I really enjoy it. Both that and this theme.
There is something to be said about knowing such pivotal moments in a game before playing it. I will say that i do not envy you. The knowledge of this scene and music before actually encountering it ruins alot of what makes it so special.
AAHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH ROYAL. *_GODDAMNIT DONT MAKE ME SACRIFICE YOU._* For real though. That moment in particular. Made me want to cry. It was the only moment that way too
Note: This game has an open ending... Why? We dont know what are the blue cells, we dont know what the HIS race was, we dont know what the Vegetal life did and we dont know what HER SPORES do grow to... If a sequel comes, it will have to do with what those spores grow in

Is nobody going to mention Royal's death, while the first part plays?
I do not understand, explain yourself...
@@emil828
Everyone is talking about agent black because of this ost, but no one is talking about how the first part plays in the level where royal dies
@@ChadicusThunderCock Ahhhhh, hahaha, I understood, sorry, is that the first part of the scene is very unfortunate, and then, apparently, the video itself, nobody thought until after reacting hehe ...
PD: I had thought to make a video apart from the solo music of Royal on the rocket.
PD2: The first music that is heard, in fact, was NOT Royal's first, BLACK'S ACTUALITY WAS REAL, remember that you fought for human phase BEFORE transforming into Ivory Beast
@@emil828
I know, I know, I just thought it'd be nice to give credit to poor Royal. He may have been an asshole, yes, but he ended up realizing. Too bad it was a tad late.
Royal died!!!???
Honestly, for those who think the purple cyborge arms are part of her,yes buuuut, no she wears them becuse that cutseen with the transfuser, the woman inside was black, this is further explained pre version of the fight before mother(and whatever that rock, cat, lion, thing is called)
Cus the arms look the same as the ones given to her by a chemico contra sientist(also dont tell one of the isi scientists that we broke the machine he was talkin bout)🤫🤫🤫
[edit]: its honestly chilling to see her final words before phase 2 is "i will have my life back"
As funny as the concept of the Birdman is, I really feel like this entire final encounter with Black is the true final boss of the game.
"What in the world is that?!
Stop it, or it will ruin the rocket!!"
Before this ost: haha got you black now sit down-
Moonlight starts to play: -something's not right, I can feel it
It's surprising how much the seeds have changed during the game.
@@thelemonlimebronyofficial8070 Oh wait Mina was inserting seeds into mother? For some reason I thought she was just punching her...
#mina is a jerk
I love this song. After having beaten the game, I've wanted to immediately find this song. It's so good!
Now she's dead and you're sad (?)
Second phase: ends
Third phase: I’m not ded
third phase is "BUT WAIT, THERES MORE!!!"
best song in the game, i absolutely love it
1:38 Real Battle is Start
Nah. It was just an emotional battle before that
I can't be the only one who thinks that Black's ivory beast form is a blatant Akira reference
This song sounds like it would it would b in Terraria calamity
MY ROCKET
Can we get a big black F gamers
Only 5 villans made me cry and black is one of them
I love how they used Moonlight Sonata in this. Great use of it. ^^
Rip black "not the -bees- seeds"
Okay, even without being able to listen to it here, I take it this is the sad music that plays during the final fight against Black that I wanted.
That was one epic boss fight, goddammit
This bossfight was... Wild.
AAHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH ROYAL.
*_GODDAMNIT DONT MAKE ME SACRIFICE YOU._*
For real though. That moment in particular. Made me want to cry. It was the only moment that way too
If only Robin could get inside Royal's head and help him face his demons.
BIG TREE MONSTER
a little note i like is that the "second phase" where shes climbing the rocket has purple arms
Best OST in the game, hands down!
This and 'Greater Good'. Aka that Timbaland beat.
Really reminds me of Elegia from New Order. Not a bad thing, love both of them.
Hehe
Note: This game has an open ending...
Why?
We dont know what are the blue cells, we dont know what the HIS race was, we dont know what the Vegetal life did and we dont know what HER SPORES do grow to...
If a sequel comes, it will have to do with what those spores grow in
_I think that was too many seeds..._
I have cried in this battle

ACHE
Poor Black
Ngl, no hate on the Starworm and its fight, but I feel like the game could've had this be the final boss and I would've been pretty satisfied.
It's not the same without the sound effect of her screaming a few seconds into phase two.
I just understood that this based on moonlight sonata
How to make a gamer cry...

Can u guys believe I beat her on the first try 😐
yeah really XD
hey uh you are kinda bragging bout killing this boss and you kinda dont feel pride when killing black
Same lol gg game, but best fight in the game by far, (one of the hardest)
agent black reminds me of my mom
impatient, rude, aggressive, easily annoyed, a literal beast, the list goes on
but if she dies, you'll cry a lot
Reminds me of Naruto vs. Sasuke or any emotional final battle like that.
Oh shit...
