They teach you how to pick it up properly to put the least strain on yourself as possible. Also in real world situations in my 190something deliveries I've only lifted the tarps maybe twice. 9 times out of 10 the forklift operators at your drops will pick them up and put them on the trailer for you which makes it much less intimidating. Not something you'll have to do much at all but you have to be ABLE to do it nonetheless in case you're in a situation you have to.
But basically the trick is you want to put as much of the weight and lifting into your legs, and as little of it into your back as you can. Sounds like you're either in training or about to start, if that's the case the company will definitely show you proper lifting techniques.

@@tommymanning8075 as for advice just keep your head down and stay on task! The main thing McElroy looks for in recruits is work ethic. Show them you're a hard worker and they'll love you! You might see people getting let go around you, just focus on you. My class started with 10, we finished with 3!
