ASMR POV Trucking: US-40, NJ Route 55 & 47 (Rio Grande, NJ)
Welcome back everyone! Today we say goodbye to my old company with my final driving video both working for them, and in an International. I'm so excited to move onto much bigger and better things. I will always miss my old favorite routes like this one, but I am on to much better things.
This is a new route I found later in my time with the company to get to the Rio Grande, NJ store and I liked this route much better. I hope you all enjoy this one, lots of good scenery to take in!

      @@debbiebjorklund3241 only dumb question is the one that isn't asked! This truck (2019 International LT) does not, but the new Kenworth I drive and new Freightliners do. I believe it's becoming factory standard. Jake brakes have also changed recently. With the truck in this video, if I had the Jake selector on, any time I let off the gas for half a second it would automatically apply the Jakes. Nowadays you have to tap the brake pedal for them to activate. If you've seen trucks going down a hill and just quickly tapping the brake pedal that is why, they're turning the jakes on. I appreciate how your video is simply you driving in your POV. I have looked to other videos for a POV like this, but they have skipped most of the driving, shown parking mostly, and been full of talking. It’s very neat to see what it is like! I’m curious, what would you say are your favorite and least favorite parts of the job?

    • @LifeintheHammerLane
      @LifeintheHammerLane 6 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@nickthenoble4895 thanks so much! I actually have the same opinion as you, before I got my CDL and that's what inspired me to make the channel. Favorite part about the job, flatbed especially, is the sense of pride I get at the end of the day. There's a lot of work that goes into flatbed, where maybe a fifth to a quarter of my total work time is spent outside the truck between securing and unsecuring. Ain't nothing more prideful then a super complex load that's strapped and tarped cleanly. Least favorite part of the job is how we are treated: Be it from other cars on the road, or from the companies we work for. We face a lot more adversity then a lot of people seem to realize. Here's a story: Just today I was turning onto I26 near Charleston SC, and traffic was backed up to a crawl. As I was turning right onto the ramp, two cars came flying down the state route from the center lane going straight, made a hard right through my blind spot and very blatantly cut me straight off and I had to slam the brakes hard to miss them. Fully loaded, almost 80,000 pounds. Things like this happen literally daily and it gets very exhausting. Another one was Baltimore, going from the 695 bypass to 95. The lanes merge down to one. And after the lane ended a sedan came FLYING up on the shoulder and pushed me into the outside wall to get in front of me, only to stay there for the next 5 minutes because of traffic. They came within inches of quite literally killing themselves. As they passed and I looked, they had an infant son in a booster seat in the car. Again, I can't stress enough that this happens daily. This is why a lot of truck drivers act very ruthlessly against cars, which you probably have been victim of at least once. While I disagree with their actions, it's very hard not to sympathize with them as a driver myself.

      @@TheMatheuscouto oh dude PACCAR is atrocious. Basically just shitty unreliable parts that fail any time. I got this truck and weeks later broke down with constant gearbox faults without an issue. They tell you to pull over and do a "6 key reset" where you shut off the truck, then go "accessories, off" really fast 6 times then start it. Did that for like 2 weeks until I got to a shop. Ended up being a computer problem (PACCAR transmission). Then my coolant sensor kept saying I had dangerously low coolant any time I went around a bend for WEEKS and then it just went back to normal magically one day. I've had 3 separate coolant leaks. My turbo actuator failed once. My DPF sensor constantly says I need to regen then it'll go away 20 miles later. Couple weeks ago I was driving along and my carrier bearing just shot out of the bottom of the truck in the middle of an Ohio backroad. Luckily I was right down the road from the TA in Wapakoneta or else my drive shaft would be in a corn field somewhere. Now yesterday I got the maintenance light and a derate code, can't see what's wrong unlike my old LT, but when I pulled over the AC compressor wasn't spinning with the belt. I turned the truck off and on again and it started turning again but the derate code is still there. I've had this truck for 5 months. Less than 500k miles.

      @@LifeintheHammerLane Good luck on the interview, and let me know how it goes! Cummins sure is a great engine, so I understand how you feel about missing it if this job goes through. But you'll probably be getting a Detroit! From what I've seen and heard, Detroits are great engines! Although if the trucks are Peterbilt or Kenworth you just might get lucky and get another Cummins, or maybe even a Cat if they run gliders!

      @@GarbageSean long nose Pete with a pre emission Cat, 13 speed manual. That's my dream but nobody runs them anymore so it'll probably only be that, a dream 😅🤣🤣 And I sure will let you know! I'll probably group all of it into one video assuming I actually M A K E the video 🤧🤧

      @@GarbageSean hey buddy it's me again! I ended up getting picked up by Fraley & Schilling to mostly haul steel out from where I live to neighboring states. I just got here to Knoxville for orientation tomorrow, then Thursday I'll be back on the road!

      Oh I have had a real go of it the past couple months 😪 I have an update video to do soon, I'm having a job change so there is this and one more McElroy video then I'm on to M U C H greener pastures. That company is turning into an absolute disaster really fast, I tried my absolute best to keep putting up with it and keep my head down but so the story goes... Thanks for being the first to welcome me back 😁

    Thank you for this, I wanted to know what it was like for a truck driver. Turns, roads and just driving. This is perfect. Other TH-cam channels was all talking, foods and seeing what it was like behind the warehouse.

      You're welcome, thank you for watching! I agree, I like the way I do this better. Same with like when I watch playthroughs of video games online, I hate when they sit there and talk about everything under the sun the whole time. Shut up and let me watch the damn game lol.
