Things like CP77 show why gamers should always be skeptical of game releases even from a developer you trust. Just because a team did something previously you love does not mean they can or will deliver again. There are too many factors that can come into play during these long years of game development. Anything from studio acquisitions, staff changes, leadership changes, etc can happen. Just another reason why you should never pre-order a game.
Pre-ordering has always been a bad idea from the get-go. It encourages laziness from the publishers. They already have their money, so where's the extra motivation? I'm constantly amazed why millions still pre-order. It's just plain stupid to pre-order.
I personally didn't like the Witcher 3 but a lot of gamers did which is fair enough but you can't deny that CDPRs game design is about 15 years out of date so i really wasn't surprised when Cyberpunk turned out to be an absolute mess i blame the Witcher fanboys for convincing the market that CDPR were this larger than life company that will save gaming?? How?? How did they receive so much hype for one game that mechanically was fkin horrendous yeah the story might have been great but as a game it was crap and now everyone's all of a sudden confused over Cyberpunk lol
@ Don't pre-order. Pre-ordering shouldn't even exist as a thing. Everyone who has ever pre-ordered thought the same as you: "... but it looks good." Exactly. "Looks" isn't "is" and the whole marketing department's job is to make it "look" good. Don't fall for their fake illusions and promises. If you have ever worked with the sales and marketing teams, you'll know that their job is to make it look better than it really is.
I am comfortable to say it now , when they call out that they weren’t doing third person view I literally bailed. It felt fishy and I gave up on the whole game. Very disappointed from CDPR

Its a cheap dmg control ploy. They don't admit to the shady business practices like only having reviewers show the footage they want the public to see and not their own content. Best apology, but not really, of 2021.
No it's not. The game came out and either met or didn't meet the expectations of the investors there's no reason to please them. That's not how business works. The apology is for people like you who try to judge the feelings of a company made of 100's of people.

I remember when this game was first announced in writing in 2012. It was just called cyberpunk project in May of that year. But by 2013, they renamed it to Cyberpunk 2077 and had released the old famous teaser trailer for it showcasing Melissa Rory in her Cyberpsychosis state. In the summer of 2012 though, they stated five things: a mature RPG in a realistic, brutal world; a non-linear story; advanced RPG mechanics based on the Cyberpunk tabletop games; character class selection; and a “gigantic” array of weapons. Mike Pondsmith was also on board funding the project by then. And honestly, besides all of us who bought the game, played it, and had to deal with the bullshit of it, I do feel bad for Mike. Marketing student here: one of their tactics is to assume responsibility for "one mistake" (console version) and not or the "other" (PC). By fixing the PC version, players will forget how ugly it was at launch and so they'll be able to support the narrative that only consoles had major issues. It's already happening and CDPR, in the apology video, already completely disregarded the first couple of days for the PC release to imply that it was very well-received.

True. No more pre-orders.
witcher 3 did have shitty npcs but other than that it was a great game
Kingdom Come: Deliverance & Death Stranding: Projects that knew their limits with much smaller teams. Don't want to risk the engine? Just use a third party one.

By fixing the PC version, players will forget how ugly it was at launch and so they'll be able to support the narrative that only consoles had major issues.
