Just heard this for the first time today. Bloody wonderous. It is probably unfair for anyone other than Duke Ellington or Oscar Peterson to comment. Stunning.
The word colossal has here a meaning. Le mot colossal a ici un sens. MONSTRUEUX. Michel ❤️ C'est de la grosse baston. It's a war. Et une indépendance des mains hallucinante.
Ohhh Michel!! ...cuànto se te extraña!...estuviste aquí en Argentina en los '80 y nos hiciste llorar de emoción en una entrevista radial contando tu amor por la música!!! Te fuiste porque eras de otro planeta!!! Thank U 4ever!!!!
@@GrumpyStormtrooper if that's not independence what is? I gotta say I never used to believe in limb independence either cos the way that I learn/play/understand things is by relating my hands to each other i.e. coordinating. But I play with an exceptional drummer and we are very close friends and he has true limb independence. He can play a repeating groove with his feet and then improvise over the top with his hands. He can even play a 3 limb groove and then play with his other hand and slow down while the groove remained constant. That made me go away and re-evaluate my assumption that true limb independence is impossible. And if anyone has it. It's this dude
It’s legendary Petrucciani, I’m so fascinated to the C Jam blues in F

A mesmeric performance. He redefines what is humanly possible. Imagine you are hard at work studying piano... then you see and hear this......

That is hand independence. A two handed jazz pianist. Marvelous.
Two-handed. yup
Not indipendence, but extreme coordination.
good comment!

No words to describe his genius!!!
Just his hands... like something magical you only see in a movie. Rest in peace you genius and thank you for your gifts that only you possess.
OOOOOOOOOO!!!!! I want to work myself up to his level someday. I have a LOT of studying and practice to do. Rest In Peace Mr. Petrucciani.
The brief Latin moment at 3:00 keeps you asking for more. This is one of the best maneuvers in jazz, like cherry on the pie.
This man was a giant.

La vie ne l'a pas raté mais lui n'a pas raté sa vie !
Arguably, the most precise metric at high speed among jazz pianist.
Art Tatum and Oscar Peterson are up there with Him.
@@ArgoBeats I would alao add Dorothy Donegan also

Very witty mashup of tunes in the right places -- "Duke's Place" at 01:44; "I Mean You" at 03:40; who knows what else went over my head. Cheers.

👏 👏 👏 🤙 BRAVO!!! 🎹❤️❤️❤️
No Words!!!
Ho ! Merci pour ce partage Dhiego !...

¡¡Grande PETRUCCIANI!! El tema lo toca en el minuto 1:43. Después sigue improvisando. Este tema también se llama DUKE'S PLACE

He segues into Monk's "Well, You Needn't" at 3:41.

Is it not "I mean you" by Monk ?
It's both, interwoven. C-jam is the main theme at the start/end though.

Wow...first Steve Martin surprised us with his talented banjo playing...and now Danny Devito shows us his piano chops! Impressive!
He took the piss.
The C Jam blues part was composed by Oscar P
C jam blues was composed by Duke Ellington....the shortest two note melody in history....
@@louizmumbai You're right. All these years I mistakenly thought O.P was the composer
