  • If you're planning on visiting Lake Chelan this summer, this video guide will help you make the most of your lake camping adventure! If you've never heard of Lake Chelan, watch this and you'll fall in love with this place just like I did!
The inside scoop comes straight from the mouth of the (former) park ranger at 25-Mile Creek State Park. It's the smaller of 2 State Parks, located on beautiful Lake Chelan, and is nestled at the heart of Washington State! Find out all the awesome lakeside activities available in the area, scope out the campground in this Walk-through, see some local wildlife, learn park rules and fees, find out what amenities are offered with camping and day use, and so much more!
Basically I'm here to help you get pumped to have an amazing summer and a smooth visit.
-Official Twenty-Five Mile Creek State Park website:
    www.parks.wa.gov/293/Twenty-Five-Mile-Creek
-WA State Parks online camping reservations:
    washington.goingtocamp.com
-Lady of the Lake Ferry to Stehekin, Online booking and information:

-More info about Snowberry Bowl Campground near 25-Mile Creek, Forest Service:
    www.fs.usda.gov/recarea/okawen/recarea/?recid=57337
....Important: the 25-Mile Creek Fire in August 2021 burned a lot of the NFS area of Snowberry Bowl, I'm not sure what the current conditions are as far as what it looks like post-burn a year later, but the website says the campground and surrounding areas are still open

Note: I filmed this video at work, in the 2021 season - so I'm wearing my uniform. However, this is not an official Washington State Parks guide. As of April 2022, I no longer work for WA, because I accepted an opportunity as new park ranger with Idaho State Parks. I loved my time as a ranger in Chelan for the 2 years I was there and will cherish those memories and experiences forever!

My wife and i have fallen in love with the boat-in-camping on chelan and the best spot to launch is 25 mile. Its one a few places you can go to really get away and slow down. We spend 5 to 6 days on the water fishing and swimming and rarely see other people.

I had no idea you were a Park Range, that's SO COOL! I definitely plan to do Lake Chelan, going to try to do it as a Kayak-in Camping Trip. Thanks for the great information!

thanks Hiking Viking, Ps. love your name ❤️
I def recommend visiting. there's a ton to do out there, even more than what I listed about the state park. If you end up needing any ideas for more stuff to do, let me know :) also thank you for watching. I'm glad you liked this video! 😁

@@wanderlustvalkyrie We have a Scandinavian theme going on. :) I'm 50% Norwegian (rest German/Swedish/Irish). Absolutely, I appreciate that, will do! My current plan is to do a kayak backpacking approach. Bring my sea kayak Pungo with backpack strapped to it, and systematically camp a couple nights at designated backcountry sites as I kayak up the lake. As I get closer to planning/doing it, I may ask your advice on best backcountry campsites up the lake if you have opinions on that. I've done some research and have some ideas but eyeballs on the ground are always superior to "internet research". :)

We used to camp here as a kid My dad had a boat we put it in the docks It was all forest and we'd watch that forest fire burn from a distance people ruined it...way over crowded now...

Thank you for the great informative video! My friends and I are camping here later this summer. I'm wondering if there are any spots to swim and launch paddle boards off of away from boat traffic?

Hey I didn’t know you were a ranger! That’s awesome. How did you land that gig?
I was a LEO previously and I’m secretly really interested in the ranger gig... REALLY interested in S&R actually since Im stoked on backcountry and have trauma medical training.
I actually just got back from a trip to the enchantments above Leavenworth and there was a day hiker that got stuck on Asgard pass overnight that we assisted with. He ended up being ok but it got me thinking about how I enjoy helping in the backcountry where hikers often get in over their heads. I’ve got a video documenting that trip inbound once I get a couple others edited and released.
    Anyway, cheers! 🤙🏽

That's so cool. SAR would be a really fulfilling job for sure! I say go for it, if it's something that you're experienced with and would make you happy! I was limited commission in WA and ran the interpretive program at my parks in my last year there before moving to ID (I'm a ranger out here now).
I miss living out there tbh. the North Cascades and Leavenworth and the natural beauty there was hard to leave. maybe one day I'll come back :D
I never got a chance to really explore the Enchantments, just the outter edges. I imagine there's a lot of SAR activity out there, with how challenging the wilderness can be, especially for those that are in over their heads like you said.
I'll check out your video, it sounds like an interesting trip for sure
      :)

is the boat launch often shut down for low water in the spring? How about Lake Chelan Park? I was planning a April/May sailing trip 2025.

at 25 Mile Creek yes, unless they changed anything with the boat launch since I worked there, my last year there was 2021. but Lake Chelan State Park consistently has high enough water levels at the boat launch in April and May that you should be able to access it no problem.
If you want more updated info you can call 509-687-3710, the rangers are always super friendly and helpful 🤠😊

Not that you can drive to. Off the lake there's FSR 5900 you can drive up right by 25 mile creek, with Snowberry Bowl Campground and other forest service road accessible campsites and spots. if you have a boat you can boat up lake (west toward Stehekin) and camp at one of the many boat-in campgrounds. You can take a ferry to some of them too, from Fields point landing or from the east part of the lake in Chelan - If you don't have a boat. the only other campground right on the lake is Lake Chelan State Park (which is usually busier than 25 Mile Creek. though tbh sometimes people cancel their sites which opens stuff up first come first serve

the boat in sites are not reservable. also on the north side if the lake is Manson, which has a couple small lakes. I think Roses Lake has a campground. you could camp there and drive a couple mins down to Lake Chelan
