    My wife and I live in France for nearly 20 years now and love it but we still not used to the fact that lunch is served strictly between 12 and 14 h...on many motorcycle trips we arrived just 10 minutes late and had to resort to a meagre musli bar from the tankbags!

      Sounds completely reasonable that lunch is only be served between 12 and 14. Surely you could find a supermarket, petrol station or fast food place

    Hi,I don't know if this helps but when I changed my exhaust for a Feul uk design I protected the underside of my SW motech soft pannier( just in case) using; the strongest/ widest Velcro available and a piece of BBQ Grilling Mat(basically a piece of heat resistant plastic) cut to shape; the mat heat barrier is stated as being good upto 260C.I also place a piece inside the pannier just in case It hasn't fallen of yet after 8 mths .Don't know if you can find any en route but just thought I'd share.I did the same sort of camping journey through France and Spain after my retirement a few years back on my 500 cbx 2017; loved every minute.Safe travels!Richard (Bristol)

    G'day mate,
    just came across your channel as I was searched for vids on Honda CB500X. Thinking about getting that as a 2nd bike/wife riding/son commuter/adventure trips bike etc. My current bike weighs about double of that so as I get older etc etc.
    Anyway, find your vids quite good and therefore I subbed and will watch the whole show.
    You say you missed the restaurant at 8pm and no beer and no res food etc. One of the best decisions I made on our 88 day US trip in 2015 (documented on my TH-cam channel) was that I limited the daily Km to around 300KM. Doesn't sound much BUT with all the sightseeing stops it was still a full day and more importantly I was able to look for a place to sleep by about 5-6pm and therefore never missed any shop closing times. Also never had to put up the tent in the dark etc etc.
    I also carry a few cans of Tuna and crackers as emergency supplies just in case I can't buy food at any time...

      Many thanks for the suggestions Joe! I'll take a look at your 88 day trip too. I found CB500X perfect for my trip, as I'm just meandering, not in a rush to get anywhere. Having said that the bike is capable of doing so and I'm enjoying it.

    Thanks for sharing your motorcycle adventure experiences. I’ve enjoyed all your episodes to date. How’s the weight of your gear on the CB500X? Over the years of motorcycle trips, I’ve learned to pack as light as reasonably possible. Maybe it’s a question you can only answer later on. Wishing you the best from 🇮🇪.

    • @bikingtravels
      @bikingtravels  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Many thanks. The gear weighs probably the same as a child, weight borne on the saddle, but it is much more than I would have liked, episode 3 does into this a bit more!

    After riding so much on the CB500x - did you find that you needed to upgrade to a 750? Or was 500 enough?

    Hope you're trip is going well, bit of ductape should make those waterproof enough again, can also the warm up some wax and cover the edges of the tape.
    How are you finding those 50/50 tyres on the motorway?
    Hows the wear on them especially with the added weight of bags and more road than off-road?

    • @bikingtravels
      @bikingtravels  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hi Dee, thanks for the tips, I think I've got them waterproofed and tucked up now, just keeping an eye on them. There is a definite rumble with then tyres. A lot of the roads I'm travelling on have a 90KPH limit, I find 80KPH much more comfortable (I'm avoiding motorways which tend to have 120KPH limits, I'm sure they'd be OK. Wear wise, still looking OK, sort of regretting buying them now due to the road focus, but... but time will tell

    Hi Nick, can you tell if the body of exhaust burned your bag from physical connection, or it was the gasses coming out of the pipe?

    • @bikingtravels
      @bikingtravels  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi Lajos,
      It was actually resting on the tail pipe, but even when it isn't anything in the pannier gets quite warm, so I'm not trusting it at the moment and switching off the engine for traffic situations where you are just idling (quite frequently)

    • @bikingtravels

      Hi Keith,
      You can, but I'm not sure if doing so resets any of the data, not taking the risk as I'm trying to use Trip A as a "since last fill up", good to compare what the bike says it has used versus what the tank will take, and Trip B reset every morning so I can see how far in the day and Litres used. When I'm back home again, I'll give it a try
