- During the 2018 AvD Oldtimer GP weekend at the Nürburgring, my friends MattyB727, Italiansupercarvideo and I recorded this lovely Mazda RX-3 race car in action on the GP-Strecke driven by Dirk Gilessen. Enjoy the sound of the 2 rotor 13B N/A engine!

Cruised past an RX3 om the way to work yesterday, bridge-ported with a big turbo; the spooling was among the loudest I've heard. It was probably on the way to 'the rotary only day' for Canterbury's long weekend. These gorgeous vehicles fetch huge prices now in NZ.
i read the first sentence and i knew you were a kiwi.. as am I... paid 1600 for a mint 4 door with a sad motor 35 years ago.. never forget the times.. biggest regret selling it.

It's a peripheral port. You can see the intake fed straight into the rotor housings.

I assembled a Mazda RX3 and I still have what's left of it. Its body style is nice. The model kit was a birthday present from 2 nice teacher friends of ours in the early 1970s. I enjoyed puting it together

Before attempting to race maybe they could first find a bigger idle jet, and put some synchros in the gearbox. Gearshifts have a lot from a WW II era truck.
This was my 1st car....$1650 back in '78. Great 1st car.
I love classic rotary powered Mazda sports cars like this. That beauty of an RX3 is LOUD and it RIPS!!! It actually sounds like an FD RX7 doing a constant tunnel run the way the sound of the engine just echoes the way it does
I believe that the best way to describe all of the RX- rotary-powed vehicles is that they're overweight motorcycles with two extra wheels attached for your safety.

Well, I wouldn't call that "screaming", great sounding car though. Must have either the worst clutch or worst gearbox linkage ever given the length of some of those shifts...

Coolest sound rx3 na 300hp easy with old rx3
Definitely was being gentle with it, that pp motor could rev way higher than that, and wants too... release it from the shackles buddy! Apex seals are replaceable!...hopefully carbon to limit damage lol

It's called the Mazda Savanna originally and not the RX 3
depends on the market, in japan it was marketed as the rx3 period. in the us, the earliest rx7 were still marketed as savannah, due to the previous rx3 savannah

13b came in a few rx cars from 1975 onwards, but yeah 2 rotor 1.3L originally the rx3 came with a 1.2 2 rotor so not much different
Hard to say, if it's from an RX7 it's from a 84-85 GSL-SE. '86 on don't have distributors.
