    There is no strain in RiK Emmet’s face at all, no missed notes, it’s pure. And that band is tight. Those are what you call professional Musicians. Saw them in 1986 and they blew the roof off….. Thanks for video!

    The night Triumph blew away all comers, and became big in the US at the US.

    Watch them live back in 1983 at the US Festival in San Bernardino California. They played the same day as Motley Crue, Scorpions, Judas Priest, Quiet Riot, Ozzy Osbourne and Van Halen. This 3 piece Canadian band dominated the other bands. What a night of music. They also have this song live from the US Festival

    Triumph is/was hugely popular in the state of Texas. Many die-hard fans there still today. Great recent documentary on Triumph where fans came from all over to surprise the band at their studio in Mississauga Ontario called Metal Works. Many travelled from Texas and they expressed their love for the band. Many of their songs helped people through tough periods in their life so we heard.

      You just nailed it, my friend. Just because Triumph didn't drink or used drugs, they were not the favorites. Too bad. My opinion: best well-educated guitar! player Compare them with any US Festival performance. Triumph Love Youuuuu. 😅

    Triumph kills it live, no question. Rik Emmett is as talented a vocalist and guitarist as anyone, he can pretty much play any style you like. I personally love this song, the message is right on point and the musical ability is second to none, winner song for me.

      I love it too. His voice does make it roar, and roar it does. I get the bass criticism but the driving tempo of the song is heart pumping anyway, and the lyrics make it soar. s-Tier for me.

      Best performance at US Festival 83. The base player just do great with Rik. A simple great trio without any super guitar pedals/effects, rocking from beginning through the end. Please compare this performance with anybody in that concert, including Van Halen.

    Their whole US Festival set was incredible. Their global coming out party and they killed. The drummer Gil Moore has terrific vocals to. More blues style . "When the lights go down" from this show is great and he's the lead on it.

    This band is filthy! Tight and clean. Rik is the greatest lead guitarist, phenomenal voice. Mike Levene is a wonderful bassist. Love his constant smile! And Gil Moore is an awesome drummer. And he sings well too. Amazing band

    We used to see these guys play the bars around Toronto, then saw them at Massy Hall which I think had seating back then for about 3,500. Then saw them back up bands in Maple Leaf Gardens before headlining themselves. The 70s and 80s was an incredible time for music.

    • @paulnuyens4207
      @paulnuyens4207 ปีที่แล้ว

      That wasn't Triumph at Massy Hall. The fire Marshall wouldn't let them use their pyro there, so they decided to play Maple Leaf Gardens instead. It's in the documentary.

    My girlfriend at the time surprised me with Triumph concert tickets in 1982 at the Lakeland Civic Center in FL, touring the Blinding Light Show.. so just one year before this.. What an amazing Live show they put on.. We had great seats, and on top of the music being outstanding, their Light show was also incredible!.

    I hardly ever use the bridge pick-up on a JazzBass myself, as I just don't like that sound 😅 But due to their offset shape and the neck usually being slimmer around the lower frets, I find JazzBasses more comfortable to play than P-basses.
    But I did like the bridge pick-up by itself on a '79 Ibanez 'Musician' bass I'd once owned for a decade or so, also because I was able to add plenty of low frequencies thanks to its 3-band EQ. Sting had played the same bass with The Police for a while, just the fretless version 🙂

    Hey J., I was there....and this was one of the most memorable concerts I have attended. It was blazing hot during the day but It had started to cool down when Triumph started playing (the promoters, incl. Steve Wosniak, thought enough to have water cannons to help cool the 300K plus crowd at Glen Helen Park in San Bernardino, CA. What a line up. Quiet Riot, Motley Crue, Judas Priest, Ozzy, Triumph, Scorpions and Van Halen. I think many have been asserting Rik's talents....I saw Triumph a few times and never saw a bad show.

      You Rush geeks are all alike...no wonder no women ever went to Rush shows. They are totally different bands. If you want a drum solo, posing as a song, and subdued guitar playing, then Rush is your band. And a guy screeching in his top register...again..Rush is your band...emperor's clothes for geeks. Lee's vocal suck compared to Ruk's, especially LIVE..same with Lifeson's guitar.

In the same interview, Rik said that Tommy Shaw another guitar/voice combo that he respected much.
