You didn't need to remove battery box or drop motor to get the rear pipe out. If you push the flange back the inside metal gasket is split, open it and remove it then this allows the flange to slide off the front of the pipe. Once it is off the pipe will slip through the opening. the flange is the issue, which comes off the front of the pipe. Learned the hard way after cutting the exhaust to pieces...then the flange fell off on its own and the pipe fell out after I cut my way through from the bottom...lol. Good thing I was replacing it!
You don’t have to remove the engine. To get the back pipe out, simply remove the gasket first and then the pipe will come out straight down, leaving the “oval ring” to be taken out sideways separately. Not sure if you have to remove the centre stand for this, mine was already off when I figured this out.
Tnx for that, I couldn't remove the gasket, the centre stand became a hassle to remove, that spring is strong... in the end , I dropped the motor, hahaha
How do you remove the gasket? You cant get that trough the frame. I need to remove my rear exhaust but no idea how to do it besides take the motor out. Can ypu explain?

@@martinhauge5522 look at @JiraXiD comment. I could not take my rear pipe apart anymore and ended up dropping the motor to get to it...

I'm not sure, 82 has same motor but different frame..
