There's funny and there's weird which one was this? I wonder 🧐🤔
Hello from South Wales {old, not new!}. A bit of a heads up for you, re warping discs. I went through two front sets on my now 20 year old Suzuki SV thou, the originals as well as a replacement pair off eBay but last time got a pair of EBC ones with HH pads that claim to have a bobbin design that inhibits warpage. Can't recall how many years they've been on now but there's no sign of the nodding dog syndrome when pulling to a halt. If you decide to keep the Triumph, give them a go. All the best to you and yours.
Thanks for that, I'm going to have another go at the warranty first, got a runout measuring tool so I know what the readings are before I claim again
Mines a 94
Cairns hey? Lotsa nice riding if u can dodge the coppers. Good review.
@@scottjohnston664 yes, Cairns, I got done within 2 weeks of buying the bike. Nothing since, hopefully it will stay like that 🙏
Hello, do you have photos of how you hide wires? I have the same bike and the front light was broken, but when I opened the headlight I was surprised as it has tons of connectors inside.
Hi, this is what mine setup looks like, not pretty.... veniba.com/images/light.jpg
I also own a 93 ...norwegian man 72
Great summary ! 🙂
@@hakanjohansson506 kyllä, for some reason I think that's the best reply?
I moved the shift lever up one notch and that stopped the missed shifts. This bike is super stable at 100 mph!!
mine is fine, it me literally being too gentle when shifting ...
Happy to see you got it reassembled! I took my headlight apart in the wrong order and thought I was screwed with all those springs and little pieces falling out. It took some finessing but I also got mine put back together 🤙
Is 20w50 oil recommended for these motorcycles?
10W40, I believe, I am in the tropics though
Great video
loved it
The ST 1200 is a great motorcycle, great sound with stock exhaust.
Agreed
In the UK we can quote the Sale of Goods Act, and another act I can't remember the name of, from 2015, which states "that goods should be of merchantable quality and fit for the purpose intended" which you could argue that the discs are your bike are not fitting that criteria. If you had done 30 000k+ maybe they would have some defence. All the best with getting resolution.👍
It certainly got resolved, in their favour. Triumph refused to do anything, I'm certainly not buying a new Triumph again;-) Have a great day mate
@@aussiewantok sorry to hear that mate. I have the same feelings towards BMW and Mercedes car dealers. The BMW went in for a recall job and came out with other warning lights showing and the Mercedes went in for a rear subframe failure, which thankfully happened outside my house and not when I was driving at 70mph on the motorway the day before! That came out with the parking sensors not working and they wanted to charge me £140 for an investigation and they would put it right IF it was their fault! They allegedly found other worn parts and needed to change them as they couldn't road test my car. Shocking, and I feel like I have been rinsed for £650!
@@michaelmclarney1994 I totally understand where they are coming from. Once you sell it, you only want to see it when the customer is upgrading. Which makes me question the warranty. Why even bother with it?
@@aussiewantok I would fought them over this but I'm too busy and under too much pressure to deal with it. It has cost them a customer as I was planning on buying another Merc in 3 years as this one had been so good, still sweet at 155000 miles with only consumables replaced. I would never pay for an extended warranty or buy one on a used vehicle, not worth the paper they are printed on.
I've got a '93. Runs great.
This video is a little bit brilliant! Couldn't quite make out what you called that fella at the end as i don't speak Japanese 😎 subbed 👍
Haha, I called him "a very bad man", hahahaha
I bought one 1 month ago.. first thing i struggling is the throttle lack of a bit of friction on the ride by wire system! I have a propper light/relaxed hand on the throttle..the spring if though...maintain a locked acceleration is killing me
That's unfortunate, mine is just normal
Fuuuuck. I’m not even 40 and that opening line hit hard - that’s exactly why I’m back into riding right now 😂 life is lonely and rough right now , so I just want to be out exploring and riding in my downtime. Okay … now I’ll watch the full video!
No, wait till yr 56yo, than you'll feel it, hahaha
@@aussiewantok😂 😭
Hi Nick. Another Nick Here, I too have a Speed Twin & about an hour ago while browsing TH-cam I found your first video about the day you got yours. I immediately subscribed (number 600),You are good at this video lark. How could your dealer not put in a warranty claim for a warped disk? In the UK the warranty is 2 years, a Disk is not a consumable , I hope Head office "explains" to your service centre that just fitting a new Brembo disk is cheaper than a lot of bad publicity .. Sorry for the long comment but i'm very drunk on Australian Red Wine....Hic.
Nice one, nah Triumph Oz told me to fark off, in a nice way ;-) Tnx for sub mate
Just got one of these.... I know that is not that elegant.. but try a knee grip... Improoved so much my confidence in riding this bike.. unbelivable!.. As its have a massive engine breaking and has slick/smooth gas tank... was the second mod that I made
I have not thought about getting them...I guess now I will ;-)
All Triumph oil filters are the same apparently, apart from the new 400 models.
Good to know, tnx
Interesting, well done, looks like alot of hard work. And time, here in the UK we can pick up those off eBay fairly cheap, for about £17 ish. I suppose depending where you are in the world parts may be hard to come by, I suppose you have to improvise and make do with what's available at hand. Thanks for the vid.
I cannot remember exactly why I did that, I think because of the saddlebags, the original indicators didn't fit well?
no way could a fireblade do 180km in first gear!?!? I seen YZF-R1's ridden hard first gear 85km then upshifting. maybee 3rd?
Dude, I'll stand by that. I never did it, but at 100kmh it still had heaps of revs left. 1st gear that is. Now I have to google it, darn...
Ok, I stand corrected, 135kmh. Oops
@@aussiewantok not hating. Enjoyed the video👌🏻👍🏻
@tkx86 tnx mate
Will this fit on an 82?
I'm not sure, 82 has same motor but different frame..
Thanks man
I have a question about the two hoses that are on the back of the carbs, a short one and a long one.. they are coming out on the right side in this video, near the top. they run the same way on my bike, but there are two holes in the ais system that is opposite the air filter, where other carbs have those same hoses running. where do these hoses end up going into? thank you for any advice.
Hi, on mine they just sit there, the bike works fine. I think one of the would be a drainage and one should go back to the air box though
Hey Nick, thanks for the great owner’s review. I’ve only got about 2000 klms on mine but no problems, touch wood. I put a decat on mine a few months ago but didn’t get a remap as the maker’s web site said not necessary. Seems to run smoother than stock, if anything. Sounds beautiful now, not too loud but noticeably fruitier. You deserve those discs replaced under warranty, good luck. BTW, the Triumph radiator guard is worth the small $.
Thanks for that, the radiator guard is on the list ;-)
It was a good video but what'd you do about your cam being off point on the second one?
It's close enough, cannot get it better than that
Such an easy removal on the 750, a bit of trouble on my 1100 86’ I picked up, I had to relocate the fuel pump to the left hand side since the new exhaust pipe comes out of the frame where the fuel pump rests. I will post once it is finished
I could imagine, that's why I got the 750, less power but also less things on it
Nailed the guitar riff, loved it and the other music too. It is such a cool bike, I love that you own this because I would love to own one but it's not a bike I ever intend to buy. Those problems you listed - there's a few too many for my liking from a bike you've owned from new - and the idea that rotors are just "done" after 16000 is absurd, that's a joke. Glad Triumph came to the party. Loving your bike, keep the videos coming. I'm amazed that your dealership made a special guest appearance at the end of the video..
That is funny, I thought that egg might have worked for the dealership. I'm still arm wrestling with Triumph over the disks, it's a work in progress;-)
My bike ( kawasaki) is in workshop this week getting a new rotor front disc after 84,000 km. Shows what a rotor can do. That's the first of your vlogs I've watched but won't be the last . Very cool and the guy, well he's just a guy without a bike I guess !.😂
Yeah Nah Dude, I'm going to follow through with this. I don't want to say anymore cause "they might be watching", hahaha No one's dying, no one's ego got bruised yet, just fun and games Tnx, for dropping by
I love an Aussie sense of humour.
Came for the Speed Twin content. Stayed for the flute and opera.
Hahaha
Покажи.
I hope the warranty gets sorted. A musical view of a warranty claim, cool. Ride well. Cheers
Tnx Moz, still raining mate... That's why I found that place, got kicked out, hahaha
Dude, several of us in the states have had the left piston fracture and take out the top end while going down the road. Mine got covered under warranty, others did not and got $8k repair bills on a 1 year old bike with 3k miles on them. All 6 bikes that I know of, it was the left piston, breaking in the same part of the piston where the top ring land meets the machined valve pocket on the face of the piston. Piece comes off, smashes the valved and spark plug, and takes out the top end. BOOM. I also had the warped rotor, but they said it was normal. lol Not sure if I will buy another Triumph... Which is a shame, as I have owned 8 or 9 or them over the past 12 years...
Wow, I've never heard of the pistons going, that's insane I'm still quietly hoping the rotors will get replaced thought Why buy a new bike with a warranty and keep paying their mechanics to service if they don't honour their part of the deal?
@@aussiewantok Just a sign of the times... We live in a world where everything is disposable, or, you buy it and then pay a subscription to use it.
Spot on man, I was going to mention the subscription stuff in the next vid. It's going to come into the bike industry, or perhaps BMW are already onto it, heated grips will work if you subscribe, insane
Dude can you PM me or email me on aussiewantok@gmail.com, I want to know more about these rejected warranty claims, I just got rejected for the disks, so I'll make my warranty vid next, tnx
Dayum that's pretty damn cool, hopefully they fix it and don't screw you around with the warranty.
Hahaha, I remember you mate! OW! Tnx
@@aussiewantok Haha yup!
I have test ridden a few bikes but when I get back on my speedy I love it even more .
They are great machines mate ;-)
Had a warranty claim with my 2022 speed twin indicator switch at Pidcocks motorcycles (uk) All sorted not a problem. great video and good luck with the dinner plates.
Dinner plates! Hahaha, tnx
Hopefully they will honour their warranty.
Dude, I'm not holding my breath....
Nice musical interludes Nick.
Brilliant editing! 👌
For the trip meters, Trip 1 I use per tank of fuel, Trip 2 I use since the last oil change. What a lovely bike, and it's good to hear you've found the right bike for you. Great job on the 1 year review.
Thank you, Sir
That’s exactly how I use them.
Video bombed.
Wow! I can't believe that guy, so rude.
I don't think they like people filming around a failed enterprise
Sorry to ask a stupid question. Does the bike has to be in neutral gear or In gear with clutch pulled?
I do it in neutral, having it in gear would work, it would just take more effort to turn, Thx for asking
hey mate do you take the postie bike back home or do you leave it at the facility?
We used to leave them at the sub-contractors house. I believe all that work is sub contracted out these days
DIS-TURB-ING! ! ! THIS 1200 SPEED TEIN GUY, "GOT ME". JUST AS HE "SAW ME" CLOSING MY EYES HE KNOCKED ON THE "BACK"OF MY IPAD. ….WELL DONE STRANGE PERSONALITY DISORDER, BIPOLAR MAN….
My son brought me a xv in pieces... thanks for this video.
Sounds like yr son believes in you , good luck with it all 👍
Hi from Czech Republic. I love the bike already. I have street scrambler 900, grey, call him Gandalf, love it. It is hard to let him go..., but I love the looks of speed twin 1200, stealth... I am afraid of the riding position a bit comparing to the scrambler, but I guess I will not resist and do the move.
..and definately more power. One of my first bike experiences as a kid was on a Jawa, hahaha
