      Went to a gastro nurse. She said that it was normal to have pain in your side and my back. My kidneys are fine even though I have had two doctors tell me I have Stage 1. Change my diet and it's in my mind. I guess that's causing me to throw up and have horrible stomach pain for 12 hours!

      @Rather B Fishing, Citrus juice daily will help clense and flush the kidneys. It doesn't take much but do it daily. Lemon, orange, lime, any citrus in water, 💚

    Everyone used to laugh at Jack Lalane a fitness trainer ,he used to talk about the bad effects of sugar in the 1950's he was ahead of his time. We now understand better because of Dr. Berg.

      Lots of people knew sugar was bad for you. I was born in 1953 and my parents rarely had sugar in the house and rarely bought processed food, no white bread etc. Public schools have done an awful job teaching health and providing healthy lunches.

    This is very true. I was pre diabetic a few years ago and I started the ketogenic diet and was able to correct it. However, I was an alcoholic and kept getting terrible kidney infections and felt the tingling, and out of breath and poor eye sight. Today I drink a gallon of water per day, eat a ketogenic diet, exercise and I am 10 months sober. All glory be to God.

    For me, there's only one way to deal with sugar: Avoid it all cost and without exception. A little sugar in the daily diet creates the craving for more sweet stuff and I would end up eating more and more over time. The same goes for substitutes - I just avoid them!
    And yes, since the moment I made that decision and put it into action, I have become much more agile, sharp and I am basically never out of breath.

      @@shilohbreigh3591 sugar replacements make me want to eat more and in the end cause a craving for actual sugar.
      Because of that, I can't really distinguish what the isolated effect of sweeteners would be on my body.

      Problem is, unless you add the sugar yourself, the western diet is so processed...there is no small amount in food because it is literally in everything!!!! I went keto and I'm mindblown at the amount of sugar in things you'd never even think to look for sugar in.
      For me personally, I did have bad sugar cravings the first week I cut it out but just like any addiction, you need to replace it with something better. For instance, monkfruit and erythitol sweeteners aren't like sugar, but they're sweet and don't have the negative effects. Since I'm pretty used to the zero carb sweeteners, I don't actually have the cravings for actual sugar. I wasn't a huge fan of the monkfruit in my coffee,but I tried erythitol and it tastes better but I still will even drink coffee now with no sugar and it doesn't bother me. Then,if you do say drink a 12oz soda..after cutting alot of sugar out, it will throw you off as to HOW sweet it is after a keto reset.

      @Ketevan Dalakishvili neither where I grew up nor where I lived most of my life it was common to eat any of this. I don't have to fight any old habits, I just need to avoid picking them up.
      I have never lived in the US. Maybe you're right and it would be very hard to keep up my eating habit there.

    I was done eating any sugary products about 4 years ago but yesterday I ate a salad with crawfish, crab meat and shrimp. The kicker was the honey bourbon salad dressing. It was so sweet to me but my friend found it not that sweet at all but that person isn’t on a sugar free diet. After living keto this long any sugar makes me uncomfortable. Thanks Doc!

      Sounds delicious but I know I couldn't eat it. I eat a lot of salads, and as such I have to really watch the dressings. I only use white dressings (ranch, caesar, blue cheese) because those are all fat and incredibly low carbs. I used to drench my salads in catalina/red french dressing. Can't do that anymore.

      I still eat carbs and sugar but not everyday and when i do things taste extremely sweet too . And sometimes those cravings come back...

      @@juststephanie1111 I lost 35 lbs. My advice is find a stevia sweetener you like and slowly use more of that and less of sugary foods to satisfy your sweet tooth. After 2-3 weeks you will be mostly waned off of the sugar. Also eat healthy fats like avocados or nuts to make you feel satisfied and full when you have cravings. Add salads too if you can, I know they're boring at first but the nutrients in them will satisfy mineral deficiencies that often cause us to crave sugary foods. And stay away from foods that turn into sugar quickly in your body, like pasta and white rice...they are just as bad as sugar!

    Quitting sugar is the hardest thing that I've experienced. I've quitted for about 3 weeks and then went back to it again. Quitting weed, alcohol or tabaco has nothing compared to quitting sugar for me. I'm battling through it. The worse part is that sugar is everywhere. IMO it should be illegal.

    Today I stumbled upon your "stop eating sugar for 2 weeks" video. And I believe you may very well have saved me from a slow, horrible death. I recognized many of my symptoms while you spoke. My mother had a book back when I was a teen called "Sugar Busters". My siblings and I hated it because as a teen, it removed everything we were used to. I got away with consuming tons of sugar in my lifetime. I'm in my early 50" now, and over the last few years it has started to catch up to me. Thank God I happened to see and pick on your video. Just as short as a few hours ago, I consumed 2 room temp bottled waters, and snacked on a big bowl of fresh lettuce. The shakes stopped, my gut discomfort isn't flaring up. I am completely sold. I can't say I'll completely avoid sugar all the time. But I will absolutely make a conscious effort every day from here on out.. Dr. Berg, Thank you for this video!!!

    This is totally true. I was a sugar addict, eating lots of sweets, cakes, cookies, candy bars, drinking only sweet tea, juice or coke every single day and barely drunk water. After watching this 5 days ago, I started to cut down my sugar intake to almost none and I really feel the differences in only 4 days. I am less fatigue and I feel so much better. It's actually hard because I really like to have some snacks and eat unhealthy foods but considering the benefits I have already felt in such short period of time, I will keep this good habit to improve my health. Thanks, Dr. Berg.

    I’m a pharmacist and can say that Eric Berg definitely knows his stuff when it comes to diabetes and diabetic nutrition. Thank you for your wonderful videos, I tell my patients to watch them. Diabetes type 2 is curable through good nutrition, if you are reading this it’s not too late to cure yourself.

      I cured my on the Carnivore diet, Veggies contain starches and Carbs which converts to sugar... You don't need wither as your liver produces its own sugar/Blood glucose through two processes called Glycogenolysis & Gluconeogenesis

    I'm 53 and discovered his videos last night and changed my diet today. Cut out sugar and bread. Had 3 fried eggs for breakfast. For lunch 2 hot dogs with a cup of sauerkraut(the refrigerated kind). For dinner had a romaine and arugula salad with balsamic vinaigrette and a nice piece of salmon. I'm going to do this indefinitely. I've had a history of low energy and more recently some memory loss. I'm hoping this is the fix!

    I realised how bad sugar is when I got diagnosed with epilepsy. As soon as I eat sugar then I get a seizure, it really effects the body and mind.

      Sugar is a dehydrator. Water helps me when I swallow my tongue. In case it might help you too.

      @@yolandagrabowski6043 epilepsy is a bit more complicated then that. The sugar effects the already unstable electrical signals in the brain for someone who has epilepsy.
      But water is always good in general. Can potentially flush out bad stuff faster

    I've started taking intermittent fasting very seriously! I've lowered my bp, cholesterol, it's healing my arthritis, and I've lost over 45lbs this year alone! I'm so looking forward to continuing my journey into next year.

    Dr. Berg, I'm 60 years old and I got off sugar, flour, starches, etc., in mid-February, with only a few, very brief splurges since. Prior to going keto, you cannot believe how much sugar and carbohydrates in general, that I consumed on a daily/weekly basis. I shutter to think about it, because the reality is that I was surely becoming pre-diabetic. Tingling and numbness in my toes and parts of my feet -- it was very scary! Fast-forward to the present, and I can 100% testify that my condition is reversed and I'm well on my way to a much normal -- dare I say healthy -- condition. I'm drinking fresh lemon juice everyday, along with apple cider vinegar, and taking proper vitamins and minerals as well, and the truth is that I feel great. (Still difficult to get enough potassium, though!) I'm sleeping better, have much more energy, headaches (and body aches) are essentially gone and I have lost upward of 20 pounds of body fat. This is a very brief synopsis, but I had a few minutes and wanted to drop you a note to THANK YOU for everything you're doing to improve the health and well-being of people whom you will likely never meet. Thank you, thank you, thank you!!!

    This was an EXCELLENT presentation! One thing I would add is after quitting sugar you no longer crave it. I quit sugar and carbs more than a year ago and lost 140 lbs. What blew my mind was I didn't feel hungry or even crave sweets or bread. It was also nice to have my doctors take me off the medications I was on. I began this at 61. I'm now wearing clothes I put away when I was 30. Keto & Intermittent fasting really works. And it doesn't cost money or require joining a gym.

      I agree that the sugar craving goes away but if do eat some at some point it could get bad for at least that meal lol, but I mean sugar not things that turn to sugar, like white rice has never given me a sugar rush like candy bar

    Dr. Berg: I stopped added sugars 2 months ago due to your explanations. My life has changed ever since. I don't ever feel laggy or lazy.     The fact that you delivered this so gently (and thank you for that!) makes it no less terrifying. As a person who cannot go a day without consuming sweets multiple times a day, it helps to know just how damaging sugar is, and what exactly it's doing to our bodies on a cellular level. We all have our vices. Mine is that I'm addicted to sugar. I'm at a completely healthy weight, too, and that can give me a false sense of security to eat however much sugar I want. I'm trying to scare myself away from sugar. But it's so hard. Even knowing how destructive it is, I eat it. I've heard it said that a sugar addiction is akin to being addicted to cocaine. I wish I could break the addiction. I've looked up all the tips and tricks to quit, and nothing helps. Ugh

      I used to be like this you just have to embrace that it’s gonna be really fucking hard and take like a week or two off doing anything for the detox where you’ll feel really bad like you have a bad flu and crave it like youre detoxing from drugs. But once you get past that you feel amazing clear energised and literally dont even get hungry much let alone crave sweets. It helps to look at the impulse that makes you want the sweets, for me it was a mental health thing seeking a hit of dopamine cuz i dont have enough in my brain chemistry. If you’re similar you’ll still feel that impulse but you can get it from elsewhere like other feel good things

    I almost completely cut out sugar last year. My unnecessary fat went away without any exercise or muscle loss. I felt comparatively more energetic, and my mental state was sharper as well. I am not saying it was solely because of sugar detoxification, but I definitely know it contributed a fair amount.

    In 2020 I was told I was diabetic and had a A1C result of 6.7. I immediately went on a no sugar no carbs no starchy vegetables. And begin working out. In 3 months I took an A1C test and it was 4.9.

    May 2022: My husband decided to lose 20 lbs..I told him to cut out the sugar which I learned from Dr.Berg. Instead of cereal for breakfast, I make him 2 eggs and sausage, lunch he has a salad, dinner he has meat and veggies. He has done this for a month and already lost 17 lbs. Sept 2021 was the last time I ate sugar at a friend wedding and that night I sworn to myself that it...I hate myself so much every time I lost control, but I'm all good now, I don't even think about it anymore...the feeling of freedom from sugar addiction is priceless!!!

    Hello Dr Berg, thank you for this video. I am taking on your challenge today and cutting out the sugar, for three weeks. I live in Holland and I live a reasonably healthy life, an average hike is no less than 6 miles, and sometimes I swim in ice water. In the morning I do a combo of stretching and QiGong and reps, in summer I hike the Alps or the mountainous terrain in Norway. I also intermittent fast regularly, sometimes till six pm. Sometimes when I'm bored I find myself grabbing sweets or a candy bar at work, it's a sort of frustration really. I'm looking for a reward in the middle of the day because I work hard. I need to get back to that stoic self I was in my twenties. It was a strong mindset, a good mental attitude. Even now I think I qualify as above average healthy and still I could do better. I'm fifty now and I want to avert any chance of ever getting cancer, and I'd like to continue to have strong eye sight. Your videos are very informative and well spoken and interesting. Every since I discovered IF in 2016 I have been watching your videos and you're been a tremendous inspiration, so thank you for this challenge! Best wishes from Holland.

      I was diabetic weighing around 400 pounds for 20 years or so - then the simple message from sites like this one (Dr BerG), Jason Fung, Ken Berry, Annette Bosworth, Sten Ekberg finally got to my radar *INSULIN drives weight* If you can stop your own body from making so much insulin, you will lose weight. This is true. Over the course of 2019, I almost halved my bodyweight and my HB1AC dropped to 4.3 - This is about ALL sugar. Stop eating the bloody stuff! If you do, you will lose weight

    Four weeks ago yesterday, after finding and watching some of Dr. Berg's videos on TH-cam, I cut off my sugar intake entirely and drastically lowered my carbs. I recently had to dig out an old belt from the chest of drawers to keep my Levis up, so I stepped onto the scales and found out I had lost more than ten pounds.

      @@nb-tj2zi Chicken, Gulf seafood (I live here), beef, pork, cruciferous vegetables, dairy, and I try to stay away from anything processed. I might see a couple grams of sugar here and there (had 1 in the beans I included tonight since it's Saturday), but it doesn't seem to bother me that much.
      Being retired military, I have access to the VA, so I should probably start getting my blood tested and looking for a difference in A1C.

    Diabetes put my grandmother in the hospital many times where she eventually passed away due to complications. Fast forward ten years- at 20 yrs old I quit sugar for only 3 months and felt AMAZING. Could absolutely feel the difference in my blood stream (felt crazy saying that at the time... Before knowing the actual effect it does have) Relapsed on a bag of Hershey chocolate I BOUGHT FOR A FRIEND Lol.
    Now at 29- Thank God for this Doctor and channel ❤️
    Ppl tend to crave/eat sugar the most when we're in need of a little love... So.... If you decide to quit... I recommend to please increase self care😘 and intermittent fasting

    Also for people doing "dirty keto", many don't realize how much sugar (in various forms) they are getting from processed meats, etc. You have to read labels carefully, as my cousin does what he calls dirty keto, but eats hot dogs, packaged luncheon meats, Spam, imitation crab meat, American Cheese, etc, which all have tons of bad additives including various forms of sugar. Making the extra effort to eat only whole, natural foods with no additives is a must!

    So far this week I cut out sugar and am adopting the keto diet..been drinking lots of lemon water...I also recently stopped drinking alcohol and smoking cigarettes..started lifting weights and jogging and wow I feel totally different in a week..my body is in shock but it's a good shock my energy levels are so high...thank you I kinda knew all this stuff before bit dr you explain it so much better and helps watching videos to keep train rolling

      If you have a craving, just eat some fatty meat. You need to replace sugar and carbs with FAT, to be used as energy!

      Yes, it is well known that eating loads of sugar and carbs has made all the Kenyan and Ethiopians seriously ill and overweight. I think if we got them all on a western diet and sent a few Big Macs over that they might have a few elite athletes one day

      Well, did you have an idea that carbs (and especially sugar) are literally brain food. So by cutting it off you are depriving your brain from it's only energy source. You 2kg brain eats up 60-80% of the carbs that your 70+ kg body digests.

    I realized I had an awful sugar addiction a while ago but there does come a point where you know you're absolutely doing TOO MUCH and have to change immediately. For me, that day was when I was eating hibiscus flavored sugar. I made some hibiscus lemonade and ended up licking the spoon (it was sticky), why oh why did I have to lick the spoon! I knew I had to stop and I went on a sugar detox. I'd been doing well for months and recently had a little relapse, so this video is right on time. To anyone who is on the struggle bus with me, be encouraged! I can honestly say that you don't know how awful sugar makes you feel until you detox from it. I felt like was on drugs when I started back eating even just a small amount. It's NOT worth it. I needed this motivation to get back on track. Thanks Dr. Berg! Love you mean it!! :)

      It is not considered a drug because it is healthy in moderate amounts. Balanced glucose (a type of sugar) can help with heart disease and other major conditions.

    I began this experiment three years ago. It took about a year to really get the sugar down, so I've had about two years of properly really low sugar, and every physical marker is better. Every single one. What I hadn't expected was for my asthma to go away.

      @@lacerav5818 1. Think in the really long term. There is no rush, you have your entire life to figure this out. Years, not months. 2. Focus on eating real, whole foods and avoiding ultra-processed foods. If you can get UPFoods out of your diet, which includes sugar but also canola oil, junk food, even diet soda etc, it will all feel better. 3. If you have to eat sugar, only do it after eating protein and fat. Avoid at all costs eating the muffin at 10am by itself. 4. Don't drink calories, even smoothies. If you want fruit eat fruit. Keep at it.

      Update: I went from 88.8kg to 79.6kg within only 2 months and 10 days. Here is what I did:
      1) strictly to sugar, not with tea, I used zero cal substitute.
      2) No rice consumption at night, cucumber, vegetables and chicken breast at night.
      3) At lunch, two cups of rice and vegetables. Sometimes fish, but made sure to eat vegetables first.
      4) When hungry I ate peanuts, apples. Stayed way from fruit juice, or any carbohydrate type food such as potatoes, bread etc.
      5) No junk food! No soft drinks, no pizza, no cheat days.
      6) I go to the gym, do weight training and heat cardio.

    Sir... I thank you for my transformation. I've sworn off raw sugar for the better part of 4 years now in July of 2022 and have been intermittent fasting for that period as well. Because of your info on fasting and the negative effects of sugar, you have reversed a generational curse in my family of diabetes, for me and my wife and children. I can't get all my extended family members to buy in, but I have planted the seeds of info in the hopes that one day they will listen. You are a life saver!

      If you follow intermittent fasting let’s say 18/6 I can guaranty you you will cut smoking by 70%. In those 18 hours of fasting you will probably not smoke more than a few cigarettes. I would drink coffee or eat anything in order to be able to smoke. So when you fast you have no will for cigarettes

    This guy is absolutly right. I cut out almost all sugar other than fruit a while back when I started eating healthy and felt amazing! Then one fateful morning I ate a cinnamon roll (yes it was organic)
    It totally ruined the whole day of work and after work. Probably for a couple days honestly.
    Anyways my brother ate no sugar at all other than a little fruit and I think no bread even. And he said he almost felt like he had child like energy.
    And folks we come from a poor southern family (I’m 28 my brothers 25) anyways we ate a very processed crappy diet. And still you can turn it around quickly by simply cutting out sugar. Praise God

    Wonderful video Dr. Berg. I've struggled with a sugar addiction for decades. Not only that but I'm Italian and I eat pasta everyday. However, since coming upon your videos, I have cut out all sugar, pasta and bread. It's only been a couple of weeks but I haven't had a craving for sugar at all. I'm eating healthier. I'm 69 and have always been healthy. I do not take any medication for any ailments. The only issue I noticed in the last 4 or so months is my fingers will not bend to far when I first wake up and I get a clicking in my right pinky. I attributed that to possibly the first manifestation of my high sugar intake. I'm hoping in time with a better diet that will subside. Thank you for all you do Dr. Berg.

    all my life I’ve had issues being tired all the time. I wouldn’t say it was on the extreme end of being chronically tired but it was definitely noticeable even when I get a good amount of sleep. I’m going to take up this challenge and if I notice a change in my energy levels, I’m going to make a commitment to never go back.

      It wouldn’t be wise to eliminate carbs straight up you have to learn to choose the right carbs and how much of it you’re consuming. Sweet potato, Oatmeal, Wild Rice and buckwheat are all examples of good carbs the body needs. I would eliminate white bread, or any starchy processed food that contains artificial ingredients

    Im a sugar addict...
    I dont eat Chocolates, sweets etc but ill have 3 spoons in my coffee and i drink about 8 cups a day..
    I once tried cutting my sugar to just half teaspoon for about a week, but i fell back into old habbits when my friends made me coffee knowing how i drink it and forgetting the new way...
    Im going to watch this now..and mayb this can give me a wake up call and keep me at my goal..

    I quit eating sugar 7 months ago. Had a few days of headaches at first but now I feel great. Your mind opens up to the universe too when you quit this horrible addiction. You'll learn to love plain yogurt and fruit like I have. Also coffee with only half and half. Good stuff!!

Avoiding sugar completely eradicates those cravings. Instead of lusting for ice cream you will find out it is a very repulsive substance.

    As an older adult on keto and IF, I stopped consuming sugar for quite a while ago. I do eat beets to help my heart. I no longer crave sugar at all. Thank you Dr Berg for another great video.

      🤔 Interesting, so eating beets made you not crave sugar? I don't like beets though 😔😢.
      Thankfully I'm not diabetic, but I've been craving sugar lately which I NEVER used to! I believe it was one of Dr. Berg videos that stated women who are going through menopause start craving sugar and can become diabetic 😔😳😢.
      Which is what happened to me I started craving it when I started having menopause symptoms.
      Does anyone know how to stop this?
      I do IF and have for years and usually only eat one meal a day.
      I am willing to try to eat beets (raw...cause I prefer my veggies raw 😊) again even though I HATE them if it truly will help me not have surgery cravings.

      Yes ma'am I know she's on the keto diet. And I re-read it and saw where she eats beets to help her heart. I just thought maybe it helped her not crave sugar and so since just recently I started craving it (as I stated I NEVER use to till I started having menopause symptoms) I was willing to force myself to try to eat raw beets if that helped her to not have surgery cravings.
      I don't nor have I ever been one to drink sugar filled drinks (except flavored cream in my coffee 1 cup in morning).
      So I hope Dr. Berg will help me or maybe someone else who has had the same experience happen to them ALL the sudden just like I have so I can get the urge to go away. I don't eat or drink lots of sugar like you think I am.
      I just hope I don't have pre diabetes because I have asked my doctor and she doesn't seem to think so, but I don't want to end up with it.
      AGAIN I DON'T eat or drink lots of sugar foods or drinks like your suggesting I do!!! I just don't understand why my body has started having such urges for sweets.
      And I was hoping to hear from Gloria who posted.
      I hope you understand that I do know not to eat junk or trash foods.
      And as I stated I have done IF for years and I usually only eat one meal a day. Have a good day

    My experience with sugar caused me to become confused and I began to blurt out certain phrases that were a surprise to myself and other around me... Not only have I removed sugar from my body, I plead with people to GIVE IT UP COMPLETELY before causing issues at work, home, and even a bit liken to blurting out words I did not recognize!     About 15 years ago, I was in my mid 30's and felt awful. Constantly tired. All I wanted to do was sleep. But no amount of sleep was enough. My feet, back, and most of my joints hurt. I couldn't even play with our kids without being completely exhausted and hurting for days.
    My wife was really concerned that something serious was wrong. As an experiment, I tried cutting sugar for a day. The most amazing thing happened. Yes, I had a terrible headache. But I actually had energy! The next day, I extended my sugar fast. Again, other than the headache, I felt better than I had felt in years. So I decided no more foods sweetened by processed sugar.
    The headaches finally went away. Because I had so much more energy, I really felt like working out. Over the next 12 months, I lost almost 40 pounds. Now I'm 49 and I still feel fantastic. I'm running close to 40 miles per week and lifting weights. I've completed a few marathons as well as races of shorter distance. I'll allow myself processed sugar on certain special occasions (anniversary, valentine's day, etc.), but that's it. Thanks for sharing this!

    I haven't eaten sugar since the April 2022. I was getting border line diabetes and that was it for me. May sugar levels are now normal, I lost 26 points and my blood cholesterol went down. Don't think just cause you went off of sugar that you get over the cravings cause when you look at a beautiful desert or a hot dinner roll you really need to control yourself.

      The thing is with sugar
      Is that the fibre inherent in a fruit if eaten whole is bound with the sugar releasing it slowly fruit is ok if eaten whole
      The whole thing against sugar is that it has been refined... if your familar with the distillation process, its been concentrated so when taken sugar is a raw hit increasing insulin like nothing causing regulator factors to come in and cause unbalance, do this enough and your body just says, sigh whatever and gives up THEREFORE when you are addicted to the whole up down swing of hormones this becomes a new normal and any variation can cause withdrawals

      @@andyspark5192 It's not the sugar that destroys teeth, it's the acid that bacteria release. They eat sugar/carbohydrates though....

    I just wanted to cry listening to this because doc just almost explained my wife's health issues and I've been trying to get her to change her diet. I can't wait to get home and show her this video....this is life and death information

    When I started HRT, I radically overhauled my diet. In 1 month, I dropped 11 lbs, and I have no refined sugar in my diet. I feel better, look better, sleep better... everything is better.

    It's so crazy! I can feel in my body when I have eaten too much sugar. I feel the inflammation in my joints and I ache badly! Thank You Dr. Berg!

    Dr Berg, greetings from the UK 😊 I am a 51 year old lady looking at least 10 yrs younger (so I am told!) I am peri-Menopausal and had a total thyroidectomy 9 yrs ago. I gained 10 kilograms and straggled to return back to my healthy weight. Thanks to your educational videos I started Keto and OMAD. I feel so much better and the weight has started to disappear! I need to check my iron levels but all is good so far. Thank you so much.

      Don't follow rules as "getting back on ideal weight class". What's important is metabolism. You can be healthier with extra 10 kilograms if you do things right. OMAD keeps your body in a catabolic state, increasing a lot stress hormones for your body to be able to get energy from your tissues because you can't get enough calories and nutrients in only one meal a day and also you don't have enough glycogen stores in the liver and muscles to be able to keep energy high all day. You must focus on a diet that keeps you in a anabolic state that will increase your metabolism, you will lose the unnecessary weight, sleep with be way better and you could become fertile again if everything goes alright. To do that you must eat every 2-3 hours like bodybuilders do. Your goal is not to become fit and muscular, but to increase your lifespan, and eating often keeps stress low all time. Your body will prioritize getting energy from food rather than tissues. Also, don't go over 30g of protein per meal because that's the limit your kidneys can process, If You go over it, the remained protein will be transformed in ammonia which will damage your kidneys in the long run.
      It's known that keto increases cortisol and if you don't believe me, please go and check your cortisol levels and fasting sugar levels.

    I think this is the most important video you have done so far, because I believe sugar is at the core of 95% of health problems. You explained how it damages the body in such an easy to understand format. How I wish there were more doctors like you! Thank you!

      I agree with Diane’ comment!!
      I also have a semi educated feeling that we could drastically use information on mental state of mind, emotional, nervousness, and violence and crazy behaviours. Young Children included!
      In my mind this requires people to know for their kids and adults that balanced fish oil / omegas are mostly non existent in American and many Canadian diets and Europe has gone into this change of American style fast food pizza and other takeouts. Seldom are people eating their traditional diets!! Dr Berg, please do a good video on what to do about getting fish oils including those that cannot eat fatty fish!!! The average affordable fish oil/omega supplement is either from an unsafe water source or cheap companies with low quality sources! The madness seen in homes and on the street could be altered lots by pushing education regarding intake of omegas from baby to grandparents.sadly the 2022 info on such doesn’t touch on the companies we should buy from or the ocean source they come from. Including douse for supplements. We in our home do not intake foods stemming from the Pacific ocean , not since the unresolved Fucashema, Japan nuclear disaster.
      This is big complicated topic that it would be such a big blessing to have Dr Berg dive into it for us all. He may be the one informed and concerned enough doctor to scrape together various detailed recommendations we all need so very much on planet earth! I’m so hoping Dr Berg reads this and goes to work on this with us all. Sugar is super bad for body and mind! No balanced Omegas is probably the second biggest culprit in our societies body and mind health!
      Is anybody thinking like me on this topic?

      The root of 95% health problems is the incapability of the body to oxidize glucose. When you oxidize glucose you transform it into ATP (energy). Sugar is not evil. If you don't oxidize it you become diabetic and you will become fat. In that case, short term low carb may help, but you will still have to treat the root of the cause. The responsible of this is the thyroid, which produces thyroid hormones T3 and T4, not enough of them will make you sick, loss of energy, low concentration, depressed and with a low hormonal profile. Also thyroid helps with the conversion of cholesterol in other crucial hormones like pregnenolone, progesterone, testosterone, DHEA and others.
      People that have health issues, can't lose weight, have sleep disorders, anxiety, and most probably depression, they for sure are hypotyroid or euthyroid. The ranges of "normal" function changed a lot during last 50 years. Now you need way less thyroid hormones to be considered "healthy".

    Wow! After seeing this video, I am nearly petrified of eating sugar of any kind. All it takes is me to watch this video, get scared to death of eating sugar, and it will make me afraid of eating it altogether. I have type two diabetes, I have neuropathy in my hands and feet, feel a burning sensation and tingling, and now I know what’s going on. thanks for such a great video, even though it petrified me. I don’t wanna die early due to diabetes which my mom’s dad had and died from. God bless you and thanks for such a great detailed video.

    I was never fat, both parents are tall and slender but from my dad's side everyone has/had diabetes. As of these last six months I developed a disc hernia problem, started working out an hour a day 6 days a week to rectify it. Long story short my back started feeling better than ever, but at that point I started ingesting more sugary stuff thinking it's gonna boost my energy levels and resistance (how stupid I was) after a month my face got puffy, to the point I would be perplexed looking at the mirror. I stopped eating sugar altogether, no more puffy face and I can sustain a proper beating of a workout like it's nothing, and I'm 43. Thanks Doc, your work is truly appreciated and very valuable, you made me open my eyes.

    I tried drinking coffee without sugar and I was amazed of how much better I felt. Never expected that. I used to drink my coffee with just one tea spoon of sugar, thinking that it was to little to have an effect. I was wrong 😅

      I too drink coffee with on sugar not too sweet but I don’t know if I would be able to drink it without sugar. How did you get used to it without sugar? Does it have same taste after you get used to it?

      Try adding a cinnamon stick to your coffee ☕️ instead of sugar
