  • This is day 2 of a vol biv with a group of mates from Coronet Peak in Queenstown, we fly into the backcountry for a nights camping. On this day the objective was to fly home again. There was some high cloud that came and went that put some uncertainty in the day, but it turned out to be great flying even in the shade!
    Me and Leo flew down the Harris back to Coronet Peak, Josh made it too a bit later taking the scenic route via the Pisas and both Pete and Kinga landed near Wanaka! All round a successful mission, good flying, good laughs with good mates. One for the books.

      Yeah I thought I was stuffed cause I didn’t get a beep as soon as the high cloud came over. It’s actually pretty reliable there!

    Must say you make such excellent video's👌😍 And the way you fly and make decisions is awesome to watch. You make it look so simple. I am really struggling getting the airspace stuff in, And really start XC flying in Holland. Theory is one thing but making it your own and be able to put it into practice! Working with my gps and filter all the information is creating a mess in my head🤯😬

    hi Ben, I heard you on the Mayhem podcast and have thoroughly enjoyed binging on your channel. This adventure with the group looked an awesome couple of days out. Now I've caught up and have to wait for your next trip.

    Hi mate, loving the videos. Random question..... what brand/modal are your sunglasses? I like the closed in sides.

      Thanks mate! They’re Julbo Sheilds, the side bits are pretty good actually, they offer good wind protection as well as sun

    Hey Ben, could you tell me what gloves you're wearing? Been looking for a better winter-ish glove with better flex. Thanks!

      I’m using Baist Gloves!! I love them, I use the trigger mitt. I take off with just the liners, which is phone screen compatible then after take off I put the mitts on that have served me well in -10 spring conditions. baistgloves.com/?gclid=CjwKCAjw9LSSBhBsEiwAKtf0nxQAenbUtR_5hjidctYxLoCBbVUX75mss4ZZZWcDLcTnE2FtzrwopBoCycwQAvD_BwE

    How would you get 3000 feet above base? Inversion?

    • @BenjaminKellett
      @BenjaminKellett  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      It’s just a different cloud base level, different air mass inside the Shotover compared to the Matukituki. One side is dryer than the other! Quite common here in NZ
