My issue with the catch is getting under the bar. I skipped it for years and finally started working on it using various means and videos. My front squad is fine, turning the bar over with this movement isn't. Finally started to get comfortable using PVC pipe and high hang power cleans. Then started doing straight and July 1st missed the catch on 205 as I didn't get fully under the bar, messed up my left wrist.
Man, sorry to hear that. It can happen with heavy cleans of you can’t get your elbows around fast enough. Clean turnovers, high hang cleans, and even power cleans with a low catch , just barely above parallel, can be a great way to work on this. I would also make sure you use a bar designed for weightlifting, which means that the ends of the bar spin really well. If you’ve got a rusty old bar then the turnover won’t happen as fast and you could end up with the problem you did. Feel free to hop in the discord and shoot me a message if you want some more help with this!
I can tell he is legit, cuz his shoes are 2 different colors. It's like the blackbelt of the athletics world...Also, the power beard.
@@botcrack 😂😂 I don’t know if that’s the best measure of legit but I’ll take it
@@bigbendstrength It's legit to me man, lol. Just a quick question. Does it matter if you use the lifting shoes vs flat shoes? I know the raised heel of the lifting shoes might help with ankle mobility, but will I be screwing myself up down the road by using flat shoes?
@@botcrack You aren’t fully screwing yourself by wearing flats now, but there will be some re-learning when you get weightlifting shoes. You’ll feel more forward a little bit so it will take some practice to find the midfoot drive as easily. Usually only about 2-4 weeks of feeling off before they start to feel normal. Most people immediately feel better though!

so 10-20 light reps of cleans on technique day, and 1-3 reps on strength/max day, and avoid 5-10 rep range cuz it's focusing on neither, and is just too tiring, right?
Nailed it! For the 10-20 reps light day, that should be in sets if 1-3 reps between 65-85% of your 1 rep max. The heavy day is a build up to one top set of 1-3 reps. Definitely avoid the 5-10 rep range per set for cleans, it’s not doing much for you.
@@bigbendstrength thanks bro
