Peter, I cannot thank you enough for posting this. I was originally going to do the “reverse head stem” modification that other TH-camr’s have posted but after contacting Lectric, they advised me that the stem bolt is now installed using red Loctite… meaning you’ll strip it before it’ll ever come loose. Your solution is the best option. Your Amazon links to both parts are 100% correct. For anyone looking to purchase the adapter, just know you’ll have to specify the 145mm stem that is shown at the 2:07 mark.
Did it work on the Lectric 3.0 .model ??? If so can you please give me a link or part # on amazon PLEASEEEEE .....Thank you much !!!Blessings 🙏 🙏🧙♂️Wild Wizard 🧙♂️🙏🙏
Peter thanks for sharing your experience with this product. This seems very promising for a better ride for my XP 2.0. Was considering a handlebar exchange but this extension seems like a better option. I also liked your idea of a extended bar for cellphones. I found one with a rechargeable usb battery bank all inside. Again love the UTube for ideas and help. Tc from Nevada
Unlike rotating the stem this mod completely changes the mechanics of steering in that you have to move the handle bars a lot more to get the same amount of turning. This might be fine on straight aways but turning a corner gets way different! Just be aware of this fact...
Hasn't been an issue for either my wife or myself in 3 months of riding. But I might feel differently if I took them off paved roads and trails. I'll find out soon - doing a national parks trip soon.
Hi Dan I’m hoping this isn’t too far off your original post. I just ordered my XP3 and now in my standby & waiting period. on my test ride I realized I had to do something. Did you have any problems after your mod with folding the bike? Mine will need to be folded/ unfolded before every ride. Thank you for your time in advance
hi Peter, I just ordered my XP 3.0 and am now in the waiting period. When you say they change the fasteners on the 3.0 not sure what do you mean? Well, I still need to order these two parts to accomplish the same thing as you? I have the same issues as your wife due to a bad back and will definitely need to do this. Thank you for your time!
Why Lectric has the handle bar post canted forward make no sense. Plus it make the bike strange feeling to handle. They should add a vertical rake adjustment pivot at the base to lean it back for short reach. Such an obvious flaw they never fixed.
Have you ridden it yet? We did that on my wifes bike and it was horrible being tiller steer now. You have to swing the bars right to go left and vise versa
6 months of riding and it hasn't been an issue for us. Not sure how you mounted the bar - It does require a bit more turning angle to get the same bike turn, but we feel that is a small price to pay for a MUCH more comfortable ride. So do most of those below who implemented this. If you don't love the result, try Chris from 'Pedal with Power' 's solution. I tried that but couldn't free the Allen bolt from its Locktite on our XP2s.
Look at this video - th-cam.com/video/io1JlMShekM/w-d-xo.html , It would appear that the handlebar mechanism is identical to the XP2.0. But I can't be certain, as I don't have access to an XP3.0. It has been suggested that the bolt holding the handlebars might be different (can't see it in the video). This might allow easier rotation as in Chris from Pedal Power's video. YMMV, but I suspect this will work for an XP3.0 as well.
@@Peter_Potthoff_Music just had the extender piece installed on my 3.0 and what a game changer! So much more comfortable for me now! Thank you very much for sharing this great idea.

After watching your video, I ordered the part and did exactly that. The results are great; thanks for making the video. 👍
we did it for my xpremium…best choice ever
New subscriber here --- Thanks for the video Peter - going to do this to the wife's 3.0!

Have done another 100miles of trail and city riding - no issues to date.
I just turned lectrics stem 180 deg and removed handle bar turned them around it's 5 inches closer and it's free
Which model? XP3 changed the fasteners, and it's easy to do. On my XP2, I could not free the loctite holding the allen head bolt .

What is “tiller steer”?
What does it mean to “swing the bars right to go left”?
I saw a different guy just flipped the bars around.
Not possible with current models. Lectric changed how the bars are fastened - can't remove them because of permanent Loctite.
The moral to the story is don't buy a bike with a post handlebar.
How does the extension affect folding up the bike?
Not at all.
How come they never show you what they’re talking about
Not sure I understand your comment.
What size did you use there are 3 sizes in link. Thanks
145mm (roughly 6 inches). When I clicked on the link, that's the size it goes to. Sorry for the confusion !
Will this work on a 3.0 as well?
