In addition to the transcription for this song, you'll also receive 100+ full drum transcriptions for songs by various artists that I've worked for (or covered) over the years. I basically compiled every drum transcription I've ever made (at least, the ones I could find!) & am selling them all as a unit for only $5.99.
    gumroad.com/l/...
    I've always wanted to do a cover of "Stabwound", but never really thought I would. Mainly because 1) I didn't have guitar stems & hate trying to mix well-tracked real drums w/ an album file, & 2) it's immensely difficult.
    Erick, Mario, & myself used to bond over how sick 'Epitaph' is when I toured with CHON. I recently went to chill with them when they were in the area, & jokingly said "Mario, Lol, if u track guitars for me I'll cover it". He was like "Lol dude I'm so down". So with that, I finally willed myself into learning / tracking it. It was honestly the hardest thing I've ever done (LOL).
    So, HUGE shoutout to Mario Camarena, Erick Hansel, & Esiah Camarena for tracking guitar / bass. Without them, I probably wouldn't have done it, & it was SUPER RAD / fun to record a song that I love so much, from an album that I love so much, alongside some homies that I TRULY love so much (everyone in CHON truly rule as human beings). Much love to those dudes!!! Needless to say, they did an INCREDIBLE job.
    Mixing was done by Adam "Nolly" Getgood, & as per usual, it is SLAMMIN'. Drums are 100% natural (kick too!). If you're looking for mixing / engineering work, contact Nolly using the email address below -

    The original tempo of this song is 240 (until the solo, where it drops to 224, then raises back to 240 at the end). Guys, listen. I tried to do it at 240. It was so hard that I wanted to die. So I did the main parts (beginning / end) at 235 instead. I hope all you #TR00 #TECH fans will forgive me (LOL).

    Alex is the best rendition so far.
    My first Hannes show, I was lucky enough to see Necrophagist live with Hannes in Seattle 2007 for Summer Slaughter Tour, Studio 7 bar upper deck seats, face next to PA, amazing! I had learned to play only 2 of his songs, Stillborn One and Only Ashes Remain. Both off Epitaph.
    I also got hang out with Hannes after his show with Obscura , at El Corazon, Seattle cant remember the headliner, was it Wintersun?!?! We grabbed a table in the bar with my gf and each had a few beers, I told him I can play Stillborn One fluently and I am working on Only Ashe remains. He told me good choice and explained the double bass pattern for the pre chorus in Stillborn. He tapped on our bar table to show me the hand pattern. I already knew the song and had learned all the patterns, but sitting with Hannes..........I stfu and listened. Brilliant drummer that is my #1 favorite.

    Ok, since good ol' Necrophagist and Epitaph specifically are getting some replay, maybe it's time to revisit an old musing of mine:
    Anyone else think/know if the drums on Epitaph were programmed? I swear to god they were, using much updated sampling, and some creative sound engineering. Muhammed used programming on the second Necro album, so for me it's not a huge stretch to assume he did the same with Epitaph. The drums in the linear notes are credited to both Hannes, AND the engineer, Christoph Brandes. Does ANYONE have any real idea of WHO, or WHAT recorded the drums on Epitaph?
    I'm thinking it was some very adept sampling and programming performed by Christoph, but I have never been able to find anything definitive. The drums throughout the entire album are flawless. I mean, no accidental ghost-noting or miss-hits, no sticks, no variation in the cymbal dynamics, or toms, and no subtle lagging in any of the playing, which was really unheard of for DM albums in 2004. Anyone else have any insight?

    • @happilyconfuseddog8951
      @happilyconfuseddog8951 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      I'm 99% confident the drums are not programmed on Epitaph, I do know that the kick drum sound is a combination of a sampled trigger layer and a real kick drum sound, but that's pretty common in metal.

      @@leonardomuzzi3978 That's pretty awesome when you think about it. The other guys in the band must have reaĺly believed in him to bring him in the band if he was that fresh.
      I was also in a band that played technical Metal and our guy was an Indie/Rock drummer, but he defied all the odds within our first year. His hard work and our faith in him won the day in the end.
      Passion is a great motivator when you want it to be.

      Oh absolutely man. I just mean't that back in the day he played much quicker stuff like Whitechapel, Conquering Dystopia, Obscura etc compared to his more recent stuff like Good Tiger. it was nice to see him come full circle to the quick stuff again like this song :D

    • @doublecrossedswine112
      @doublecrossedswine112 6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I read one of Alex's comments somewhere saying he enjoyed playing non-tech music too. Fair enough, he is a grown man with freedom, but I'm with you, I only bother with the show off type stuff. If you like Whitechapel that is 100% fine, I just thought you implying Whitechapel and Conquering Dystopia was more technical/faster than Necrophagist. LoL, so yeah I was like WTF!?!?! My bad.
      Conquering Dystopia is pretty badass though, true, true.

    What blows me away is how easy Necrophagist made it look live. You had a drummer who could blast like this consistently for a 45 minute plus set. What I love about this video is that you get to witness the insane technicality of the song, specifically everything the drums do in it. You can tell how much this drummer struggles to stay with it, but he rocks it on spot on. Like all other Necrophagist fans, I wish they'd release more / new material, but it doesn't look like that's going to happen. So I'll just keep repeating their two releases hah. I'm always on the lookout for more tech death metal, but there won't be anyone like these guys. I'm glad there are many fans of the band. I stumbled across them by accident. I play them to my friends who appreciate music technicality. Though none of them like the vocals, they're always blown away by the music itself.

      @Chris E. It's called a joke, and it's literally on all of Alex's videos. Every single one, and on probably 90 percent of videos that show professional drummers. Grow up and don't take shit so damn seriously. Like he is really going to quite because Alex is better then him. If he's really like that he wouldn't have picked up those sticks in the first place.
