Anywayz, here's another 'throwback' Whitechapel tune - the title track from their sophomore, "This Is Exile". Like the last track I did from 'This Is Exile', the tempo's vary a bit from the album version. The album wasn't tracked with a click, so to make it work live with a click, we time stretch certain sections up or down until it locks in well enough, that way everyone can get the click signal in their in-ears. We also slowed it down considerably in certain sections (thank god, LOL). The album version is QUITE fast. I feel like it still hits pretty hard at these tempos, & is certainly easier for me to pull off consistently night after night on the road. I also changed some parts up a bit here & there - sort of put my on feel / ideas on it (while still trying to do the original justice). Also largely because, again, my focus was to make it as consistently playable live / on tour as possible (that's always something that's important to me when I know I'll be playing a song night after night for ages).
Speaking of 'the road' - god dang am I over 2020 ya'll. Lol, I mean furreal. I miss playing shows. In the meantime though, I'm currently workin' on a buncha music stuff, so that's been cool. W.C.'s been workin' on a new album & I've started learning all the parts for it (hence my lack of drum video posting / general Social Media posting as of late - just been a bit preoccupied). It'll all be worth it when I'm tracking some rad tunes in the coming months!

Kevin Lane was a killer drummer for WC
Hek yeah, dude! I love all the ideas he had for WC!
Yeah he was super creative! Epic cover Alex!!!
0000000000-1-00000000000000001
@@roadhauled7826 lol it’s not cover it’s a playthrough. Alex was there drummer for hella long
@@500ccs_of_ADV It’s both. Alex played drums in WC from 2020-2022 or so but This Is Exile came out in 2008 and was played by Kevin Lane. Alex is performing a cover that’s labeled as a playthrough since he’s the current (at the time) drummer playing an old drummer’s parts.
1:58 he's looking at his right cymbal like it owns some money to him
It was the DLC on Rock Band 2 that first introduced me to this song and What a Horrible Night to Have a Curse by The Black Dahlia Murder. That was a third of my life ago.
Mayhem Pack ftw! That shit got me into death metal and I can't thank it enough.
Loved these songs before the Mayhem Pack and then when that dropped. I almost cried!
Arvid Axelsson I’ve never been a fan of Whitechapel, but The Black Dahlia Murder is one of the most influential bands in my life. What a Horrible Night to Have a Curse was one of the first songs I ever listened to with blast beats. Funny enough, there was a Guitar Hero player named wuLFe79 that was featured in Game Informer magazine and he played death metal custom songs on his TH-cam channel. He made a custom song video of Advanced Corpse Tumor by Necrophagist, and that was the first death metal song I ever heard (also containing blast beats), and now I have a big music collection that’s 95% death metal.
@@Randinator I also strongly prefer TBDM and that has likely something to do with them being melodic death metal, rather than the kind of deathcore Whitechapel is. Thanks to Rüdi, though, I have reacquainted with Whitechapel lately and I'd say I really, really enjoy When A Demon Defiles A Witch. Lots of cool melody in that song.
Same here brotha! Same here
Watching Alex perform live was one of the best surprises of my life, I went to see Whitechapel and never knew I'll see another one of my idols there
LOL, oh snap!!! Haha, that rules man! Glad to be part of a nice surprise for you. Hope to see you at another show! ..... whenever shows are a thing again! 🤣🤣
The original guy who recorded this was such a badass creative drummer. To pick the perfect double bass during little breaks in the guitar and hitting those splash accents on fills 🤘🏼
Mad respect to Kevin Lane!
Gives me anxiety when he has those pauses in between the blast beats in the beginning when they're supposed to be constant lol love the video still
Man, i get that Ben is absolute monster, but i truly don't think that Kevin gets enough respect. He wrote awesome parts and was a beast in his own right.
Metal has grown into this, I like it, come on new generation let metal be what you are
THE ONLY DRUMMER TO PLAY WITH SEPULTURA AT THIS MOMENT!!!!!!
3:12 THAT Breakdown alwayz makes me want to HulkSmash everything around
the absolute gold standard of heavy drumming. also, dat snare
This is one of my favorite Whitechapel songs🤘🤘🤘🤘
More of this 2005-2010 deathcore Alex please
These creative, unconventional, and BADASS fills (using multiple different cymbals, alternating patterns, shifting note structures, etc.) are what I live for as a drummer. Huge props for making this cover so precise!
THIS WORLD... IS... OURRRRRRRRRRRRRRS!!!!!
I was singing that part in my head also 😅🤘
This is a classic example of a metal band being defined by their drummer.
holy what a blast from the past. i forgot about this song
3:22 that fill completely blew my mind 🤯 just incredibly precise! 🤘🤘 Amazing as always
I mean obviously phenomenal playing. Insane. But Kevin lanes drum writing on this album especially was so good
Holy shit, a full album playthrough would be a dream!
Dude this is sick! I love seeing modernised/high quality versions of the classics. 10/10 👍
Dude you ain't human! That stick control... holy crap man. Killer!
This was the first song I listened to that uses splash cymbals so heavily, and I've been in love with them ever since!
Love how punchy that bass drum sounds!
Jesus...he makes classics sound like the first time you listened to them but on steroids. This was tasty and super exciting
3:08 fuuuuuuuccccccckkkk yeah just never gets old! I'm so so ready for more of you and Whitechapel lmao. Maybe some Necromechanical or Devolver off? ::DDD
Snare sounding extra crispy in this one!
whitchapel has some of the sickest drummers my gahd!!!
I’ve never clicked so fast on anything!
I always loved the fills on this song, but they never felt or sounded all that achievable to me!, even by a pro. you’ve seriously proved me wrong brosiff!
This guy drums.
I'm not so sure, looks like he plays a bunch of mops.
Very well spotted, consural 😃👍
I bet he’s the guy who does all the drumming in the house.
No shit.
Love the setup, dude is an absolute monster.
Clean as always 👏 Congrats on the official spot man! Well deserved!
Yes pls and thank you! Ive been waiting for this one!
Great cover, hear this song a lot, sounds a tad slower than usual, but you don’t seem to disappoint with any cover you do. Kevin lane was so good for Whitechapel, the albums he played on had some great beats NEOC album is one of my favourites to this day
Been a fan of Alex for a while but it seems like these tracks don't have the same feel. Almost like they're TOO perfect lol. You friggin killed it as usual though, sir. I would jam with you any day if I could.
If you use too perfect as a description for this, then you know rudi is TOO good. 😂🤘🏼🔥
This song still slaps 12 years later
YESSSS I REQUESTED THIS LONG TIME AGO
ME TOO
This was the first Death Metal song I ever heard and loved. It was OnDemand back when music videos could still be seen on TV. I was so blown away by how simple and amazing the video was, and how powerful the music was. I couldn't get enough.
was SO sick seeing you on tour with them in europe last year!!!!!!
Oh SHIT yeah! Old Chapel!
I love seeing you on a double kick kit Alex! Can't wait to see you with Whitechapel some day hopefully!
Damn that Lars Snare sounds so crisp!!! By far my favorite you've had on the channel my mans
in the hands of a good producer and a good drummer that snare sounds fucking incredible. I've heard that it is a bitch to get that sweet spot where it sounds amazing but boy does it sound good if you get there
Damn!! Sick as always Alex!! Thanks bro!
Your blasts are so stupidly clean it's so good to watch.
Your flawless technique will always amaze me ! You're awesome !
Das mah name in the description! So rad dood 🔥🔥🔥
Dude you kill this song live! I was on tour with Zombie when WC played in vegas at the downtown festival! Super glad i was able to cath yalls set that night!
So clean, so good.
Thanks for this killer play through, one of my favorites of WC. Mix is so clean dude!
Amazing! You are without a doubt one of the greatest! Excellent work! 🤘😎
Hey awesome tight drumming and great performance my friend!!!!! Keep it up and stay safe!!! Greetings from Switzerland!!
So good to see you blasting again!
Would love to see a video of you demonstrating your blasting technique (obviously just the snare strikes). That hand looks so calm during those blast beats, I love it.
Finally, I've been looking for you to make a playthrough of this song!
Mad respect to you, Alex, since the Xenochrist cover !
Dat fresh quarantine blaaaaaaassssss
Very creative & musical cymbal work dude , luv it 🇦🇺👍
Excellent as always. Your videos are a joy to watch.
THIS IS EXILE
The drums on this album are so good. You nailed it mate
I remember watching your end of flesh cover a million times back in the days ... ♡
Some of the hardest hitting blasts in the game!
OH GOD its brilliant! Love seeing another video showing of your ambidextrousness (is that a word?)... along with everything else, brutal!
Wish I could sit down at that kit for 5 minutes 🤟🥁🤟
Excellent
*DESPISED ICON - MVP*
*Tenho certeza de que conseguirá gravar esse som. Tu manda bem caralho nos blast Beats.*
Absolutely crispy !!! 🖤
Rudy, you're such an inspiration, man! Looking fwd to the new WC with your drumming on it!
The commitment is inspiring man!

So friggin clean man
Awesome cover!
Blown away holy crapes
Soo good!
THIS is a good ol right here!
I still find myself looking up the Section 8 cover by you. Bad ass as always. First cover I ever listened to of yours was a Threat Signal song. I don't remember which one. I'm sure if I looked it up I would remember. P.S. Your toms sound amazing.
Hope you’ve been well brother. Much love from AL
Damn this left me speechless
Can you do “dawn of a golden age” roadrunner United
Holy hell, what a good choice.
@@MrSkySharks 😎
Amazing
I was always a big fan of Kevin’s technicality on the drums
Notification 47 minutes later but I’m glad to be here. Sounds so fucking good.
finally someone not rolling on their feet just to go fast. doing it the right way!
Great stuff!
damn, whitechapel has had some killer drummers 🤘
1.1k likes, zero dislikes. You are a damn machine, my dude. ❤️
Woooo sick man!!!!!
Love to see Darkest day of Man next on your channel for another drum cover.
Woooow, amazing as always!! 👏👏👏👏🎶🎶✌
Can’t lie it would be cool to see that added double bass speed at the end that Ben threw on at live shows.
Damn, that snare hit is super hi-def
