    Gavin first of all great idea for a video. I have also been buying complete rifles and tossing crap stocks, and have also been wondering about the Howa approach. Makes sense. I also cannot wait to see how this shoots.
    Pardon me if you already know this... I have found that I can install MLok accessories without too much trouble with the fore end (or hand guard) in place. I just loosen the screws, drop the nuts through the MLok cut, pick up lightly on whatever the accessory is while turning the screw, and the nut will rotate until it slips into the MLok slot on its own. Then tighten the screws.
    Another advantage of doing this with the hand guard in place is it allows for quick MLok screw to barrel clearance checks. If it is too close or touching I'll remove the MLok assembly and shave down the screws.

    I can certainly see the love for that bipod, I have an elite iron bipod and bringing the apex of your shooting platform over the top of the bore makes a world of difference in stability. Frank over at the snipers hide has a complete series on bipods that's a wealth of info on the topic. Love the gun and love the content keep it up👍👍

      Yikes, that bipod, barf, it’s more of an f- class bipod rather than prs.

    That is a great upgrade and that bipod looks sick. Only thing I would do is put a 50 MOA base on so you can utilize the 100 MOA that the scope has to offer or put it in a 30 MOA sphur mount that sits a littler higher so you can run your sunshade

    THE question is what does the cricket chirping in the background think of the build? Love the content sir! Keep up the great work!

    I've definitely found the 6mm to way more touchy too! But it's a laser beam once you get it figured out!

    Was hoping for a high-performance budget build, but it looks like a big budget project now.

      The good news is, the "high-preformance" builds are definitely worth it weather he does it or not! But I agree with you. The budget precision rifle is still popular but so many are moving to the next level.

    I know it sounds crazy, but try some Reloader 26 with the 105 through 115gr. Bullets and don’t be afraid to compress the powder. Great velocities and accurate. Will beat the 6.5 all day long IMHO

    Following this build closely. I wish to build one in 6.5 someday, maybe 6. I nee to study these two a little more.

    Have you tried out the Fortmeier bipod from Germany? Purchased one through Phoenix Tactical in the UK.

    So, on to my question once again~
    Are you thinking about trying the new Hornady Aluminum tip 110gr projectiles in this build?

    Is that the same Howa 1500 6mmCM that was rebarreled, or a different gun? IIRC you used a fluted IBI barrel to replace the Brownells Howa action's inconsistent barrel..

  • @scottlutz4816
    @scottlutz4816 2 ปีที่แล้ว

    @gavintoobe I have Howa Bravo package I built with a preferred barrel blanks howage barrel and jard trigger. I know you said that bedding didn't help your Howa bravo package and i am having an issue that i think is movement related. My load runs great average sd's are 5.5 and es's are 13.5. I get numbers even lower regularly. My problem is it doesn't group consistently. Ill get two in one hole and then a POI shift then two more in one hole. Or I'll get 4 in one hole and then a POI shift. So was this the type of issue you were having or was yours not printing a group at all

    By the time you consider the money you spent for these upgrades, would you be better off starting with a different chassis?

    Interesting in the Howa barreled action just wondering how easy the barrel swap is? Being 6mm Creedmoor barrel changing is going to take place often. I've heard the barrel is so tightly screwed onto the action you have to make a relief cut to get them off.

    Total cost?

    • @brandonstewart8431
      @brandonstewart8431 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Doing some research and pricing on all the separate build parts, the total cost is somewhere around 3600 dollars, not including further work and parts applied after this video was posted

      @@tacticalrabbit308 yeah I get that. And i dont want to tell you what to do but rather just suggesting that Remington brass isn't all that great let alone worth the hastle. There are great options out there that are cheap and still great quality.

    • @tacticalrabbit308
      @tacticalrabbit308 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@JacksonMalcolm I just looked at the bases of them some are F C and some are R P 6mm Remington brass

    • @JacksonMalcolm
      @JacksonMalcolm 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@tacticalrabbit308 what are you planning on using it for? If it's just shooting coyotes and deer at 1-300 yards then you'll be fine. If you need consistency you might want to shop around for better stuff. Starline brass is about $65 for 100pc. And will do just fine. I'd hate for you to put in all the work and $$ to fire form and it not preform.
