Arnold Schwarzenegger Biography - The Real Muscle is His Brain

  • He created a body that was to become the gold standard for muscular development. He would use it achieve one goal after another, rising to the very pinnacle of, not one, but three careers. Yet, from the very start Arnold Schwarzenegger had the odds stacked against him... He was dismissed, ridiculed and parodied mercilessly. What people failed to realize was that Arnold’s strongest muscle was, not his bicep, but his brain. With it he orchestrated career moves that took him to the very top.

    Arnold may be a jerk in a number of ways, but with the Special Olympics, he's a wonderful man. I know a young lady from the United States who earned a place on the U.S. team to go to the Special Olympics Winter Games in Austria in 2017, where she received a silver medal in skiing. She met Arnold, and he was very gracious to her and all the other athletes. He signed endless autographs, and posed for countless pictures.

      Don't forget that Austria was a Axis country in WW2. Remember, Hitler was Austrian. Arnold was born two years after the end of said world war. He would have been raised in Cold war boundaries. Whether Western Europe or occupied Communist side affected him in the 60s, I would think there would still be plenty of misconceptions. Competing in European bodybuilding back then if the odds were against him might be bigger then we think. Especially with little money.

    The roll of Terminator was not created for him as they originally wanted a retired football star to play the part but decided no one would believe he was an unstoppable killing machine. Who was that football player? O.J. Simpson.
    The part they originally wanted Schwarzenegger for was the part of Kyle Reese so he would of been Johns father.
    Kind of sad one of his best known rolls said less then 100 words in the first movie.

    Too bad for Arnold as they originally had planned that a 21 year citizenship was to be enough to run for president:
    “One question on the qualifications of the president was among the last to be decided.
    On the twenty-second of August the committee of detail, fixing the requisite age of the president at thirty-five, on their own motion and for the first time required that the president should be a citizen of the United States, and should have been an inhabitant of them for twenty-one years.
    The idea then arose that no number of years could properly prepare a foreigner for the office of president; but as men of other lands had spilled their blood in the cause of the United States, and had assisted at every stage of the formation of their institutions, the committee of states who were charged with all unfinished business proposed, on the fourth of September, that 'no person except a natural-born citizen, or a citizen of the United States at the time of the adoption of this constitution, should be eligible to the office of president,' and for the foreign-born proposed a reduction of the requisite years of residence to fourteen.
    On the seventh of September, the modification, with the restriction as to the age of the president, was unanimously adopted.”
    - Historian George Bancroft in his:
    ‘History of the Formation of the Constitution of the United States’ (1884) (Volume 1 Page 346):

    I think one of the most definitive human accomplishments is the nuclear bomb. I really hope you guys can get to guys like Oppenheimer and Feynman at some point.
    Great new channel! I am starting to think Simon is either an android or identical triplets.

    • @veritasvincit5347
      @veritasvincit5347 6 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      Accomplishment is not the term that comes to mind considering the suffering and fear that nuclear weapons brought to humanity.

    • @4077Disc
      @4077Disc 6 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Absolute Zero It’s not even remotely that simple, which is exactly why it’s (imho) the DEFINITIVE HUMAN accomplishment. If not for Mutually Assured Destruction, the Cold War would have been a very hot, fiery, and bloody war.
      We are flawed, complicated beasts who routinely harness otherwise massively destructive power to create order and beauty in our world. Nukes, and the paradoxical peace they have brought, are the pinnacle of technology and guys like Feynman are FASCINATING.

    • @veritasvincit5347
      @veritasvincit5347 6 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      4077Disc I do agree that Richard Feynman was a brilliant scientist and that coming up with the nuclear bomb was anything but easy. However I also think that contributing in building a weapon of mass destruction that later came to be used against innocent children is not something that should be hailed as an achievement. Pointing nukes at each other to force peace is an inherently flawed and dangerous concept. It is very premature to consider M.A.D a success. What happens if a terrorist group manages to launch a nuke against another nuclear power? That would spell destruction for both nations, at the very least. The nuclear bomb is hence not the most definitive achievement but instead humanity's worst mistake that it has yet to pay for.

    • @4077Disc
      @4077Disc 6 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      Absolute Zero thoughtful response; great points, but I simply disagree with most of them. It’s an easily documented fact that you are far less likely to die from war than at anytime in human history. Mostly, I think pointing nukes at each other is FAR better than ACTUALLY shooting guns at each other; Nukes are a better evil than the evil that would take their place.
      While it could go catastrophically wrong at any moment, but as long as it doesn’t, our lives are better for it. There are more impressive, beautiful, and useful technological achievements, but nukes are still the most definitive human accomplishment, IMO.
      Have a great day.

    • @kevinlitton1399
      @kevinlitton1399 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      If you think about it, how many people have been killed by nuclear weapons? Now compare that with how many have been killed by machine guns, artillery, arial bombers etc. Considering the killing potential of nuclear weapons, they've been relatively safe when you factor how many people died in warfare in the 75 years since the nuclear bomb, compared with the 75 years leading up to it. And that doesn't even take into accound the population explosion in recent years.

Historically it is sandwiched between two of his (arguably) best films, T2, and True Lies.

He co-founded the business with a bodybuilder friend in '68 and they made a fortune after the San Fernando earthquake in 1971.
