  • At the age of 9 he knew what he wanted to do with his life, and he never wavered from his goal. Now, he’s one of the world’s most famous scientists. He’s earned the title of “Most Powerful Nerd In The Universe” from National Public Radio and the title of “The World’s Sexiest Astrophysicist” from People Magazine. He was instrumental in cutting down the number of planets in our solar system, and in doing so upset entire generations who had come to love Pluto as the quirky, smallest planet. And who is this icon of science that’s recognizable by the general populace? … Neil deGrasse Tyson.

Funny story. I met Tyson at a meet and greet after one of his shows. I stood in the long line thinking what am I going to say to him. Well, I thought about a video I seen on TH-cam of one of his Q&As that he did at a lecture hall. He explained Isaac Newton's Orbit Cannon photo. It blew my mind and put the bug in me to learn more. Like a fool, because I only had about 5 seconds, I decided to share that with him. How he inspired me to learn. I walked up to him, shook his hand and smiled for a photo. I turned and blurted out something about I saw your video on TH-cam, blah blah, Isaac Newton blah blah. Complete gibberish. He stared at me as if I was speaking Cantonese. Then i thought to myself (you fool, there are so many videos of him on TH-cam. He has no idea what you're talking about.) So I said, I'm a big fan, it's nice to meet you. He said eeehh, nice to meet you too. 😂😂☹️ Love the channel by the way! At least i walked away with a photo.

One of the great attributes of Dr. Tyson is his quick wit and analytical mind. He often debates people who are anti-science and puts them in their place, showing them their flawed line of thinking.

@Beard Cheese - I see that. He can be so full of enthusiasm and the need to share knowledge that he dominates a discussion, which makes him seem full of himself. I don't think his ego is as subdued as Simon implied, plus his natural extroversion, can definitely make him annoying to some.

Tyson is amazing, and I love the way he explains science, space and the universe in both Cosmos and the audio version of Astrophysics For People In A Hurry. The one thing about him that contradicts this usual calm persona is how he gets in debates. I've watched a few TH-cam vids of him in debates on shows and other venues and he can really pushy, hardly letting the other person get a word in edgewise. Still very smart and charismatic.

I happened to be teaching a science unit about our solar system when Pluto was declared no longer a planet. As this was a Preschool (3’s) program, it was a great opportunity to teach that the more we learn, sometimes we need to change our thinking. It was an interesting challenge to take the former planet of Pluto out of our displays, teaching, artwork, etc. I believe that it was a wonderful lesson that learning can evolve and we need to keep checking the facts. Neil Tyson is an amazing person! 💫

I always look forward to a new video of Biographics, Top Tenz and Today I Found Out. I just recently watched the Patton video you did. And I was thinking that there is another Military Officer who has almost a cult like following. Being a former U.S. Marine I could only be talking about Lieutenant General Chesty Puller United States Marine. I don’t think not many people outside the Marine Corps knows about this man and what he has done for his country but also what he means for Marines like myself.

Neil Degrasse Tyson, probably the most intelligent man currently on the planet.! In my opinion, he rivals Hawkings and Einstein. I would like to meet him one day, shake his hand, and just say thank you for all that you’ve given us.

Neil deGrasse Tyson also had a few features on Logic's new album. He didn't rap, but did some interludes.

He's like science enthusiast and talks more than doing actual scientific work

I remember when Pluto was classified as a planet, then was "downgraded". When it happened, the only thing that crossed my mind was "neat" xD. I'm surprised people got as angry as they did about it.

This was the first vid i watched from this channel. I hit subscribe only 2 mins in!! Great work, very informative! I know so far you have done very well known people, But the person i would love to see next is Ben Folds (the musician and most awesome piano player, of Ben Folds Five Fame)
Just someone who personally has also inspired me with his music, and life.
