Luke measure the window and buy curtains that are at least 1.5 times the width of the window itself i prefer twice the width of the window dont worry we have all done it xx
Luke for future curtains don’t waste your time ironing. Hang your curtains then get a spray bottle with clean water and spray them. It’s what we do in IKEA in the room sets when we hang new curtains and you can also do on bedding.❤❤❤❤
Oh my goodness Luke, you two are just adorable in the funniest way! I have never wanted to crawl into a video so much, so that I could help you with the curtain hanging saga! Everyone has to learn (I did in the 80's), we've all been there! I'm so looking forward to the gardening videos! Oh and Maggie's bowl is gorgeous! Well done Zara! Every Queen deserves a strop now and again! 🥰xx
I always buy eyelet curtains, no messing about and so easy to do, curtain rail up, then thread through the eyelet, done, I even managed to do it on my own, I love watching your new home becoming your home.
Oh, the joys of curtain hanging! I can’t count how many pairs we have hung and re-hung in our married life - and it never gets easier! Lovely to see you both - and Mags.
I've got a blanket box full of curtains from various places i've lived, its never a waste of money, and you can make roman blinds out of old curtains even, so its never a waste. We've all done it! 1 and a half times the window in order to get a gather, just like the others have said. Lovely colour though!
Hi Luke, I’m mostly a lurker but have been watching you on and off for about 3 years. I have to say since you moved into your new home I am really vibing with your content. Look forward to watching you grow into your home with Zara and the pup ❤
“Many challenges in life, but seems like we get most of them” I cannot tell you how much this made me laugh out loud. I use this phrase weekly at the moment. It was like hearing my own voice saying it. Love your content! Congrats on the house x
Curtains can test the most patient of people! They are a bloody nightmare. You are lucky Zara didn't throw the curtains out of the window, rather than hanging them!😂 As for the ceiling roses, there is a way of working out what size you need for a room. Be careful not to go too big as plaster ones are really heavy! X
Ha ha, great to see you having so much fun 😂 I've got bubble wrap halfway up my "flasher windows" as a temp solution. Actually looks quite cool. Just cut it to size, wet the window and slide it on. Think that came from Mr C originally xx
Luke and Zara, you are the unheralded comedic duo of the internet! If this channel was only videos of you two bickering with each other while working on an array of household tasks, I would still happily subscribe
We bought a victorian 1 bed flat nearly 3 years ago & have been replacing all of the old features as we go. For the radiators Screw fix have some reasonably priced ones that look lovely. For decorative bits my best tip is to do 1 thing at a time otherwise you'll start to hate how untidy/ unfinished it is. Coving made the biggest difference for the cheapest price, b&q do a good precut coving set too. Goodluck!
Hello Luke, just wanted to thank you for bringing Eataly to our attention, we live in Suffolk so we come into Liverpool Street and so have seen it loads of times, but just thought it was restaurant and never paid it much attention! Visited today and was amazed! My wife (and baby 🤭) are big fans of your videos, keep up the good work! ❤
Hi hope you don’t mind a suggestion, use the steamer on low setting tie the curtains back all down length of curtains to hold the pleats. Steam over the curtains as a spray of steam leave tied for a week curtains should then hang beautifully
If you don’t mind that suggestion, buy candles of the same height for the beautiful new candleholders. I don’t know if The White Company in the United States, I’ll check. Not near me.
Loved the trip into town showing us all the lovely pasta’s etc very interesting. No worries Zara about the curtains they are hard to hang you got there in the end. Your Curry and Crumble looks fabulous. 🌸
Love Eataly will be in Bolgna again in February for a short break they have a combined bookshop, resturant, cafe and food store in the centre. Outside of town a huge food park known as FICO you need at least half a day to experience foodie heaven. Love Verona.
So good seeing you both along with Maggie. My little Lilly Rose sat in front of the telly watching you all too… yes, I have a grog that watches you as too. 😂 Loved your trip to the shop today and love those croissants. I have a place way across town that has French pastries and sometimes I’ll go there and buy a couple along with pain raisin and a great baguette. Love that candle holder, very nice glow. Cracked up over the curtain hanging… something I’ve been contemplating on buying for a change in my living room. Always a pain to iron and hang. Good job on the funds raised so far too. You know Luke you all have become such a part of my life, it’s funny how when you don’t see someone that you miss them… you’re such a delight. Have a beautiful rest of the week. ❤❤❤
I'll just embrace bein a flasher lol I am the naked neighbour and a taxi dive alwas seems to park under my kitchen window when I'm wandering about making coffee lol
Another wonderful vlog. One thing I’ve discovered over many years of wasting money on curtains is that you don’t scrimp on size, to get that lovely full drape you have to go extra on the width measurements so that when you draw them they still have plenty pleats. Personally I don’t do the pleated style now I go for the eyelet style, much easier to hand. I’ve pulled those strings totally out when I’ve forgotten to tie a knot in the end 🤦♀️ and that’s a whole other level of tantrum 😂😂. Xx
I swear Maggie's cute little face scrunched up and was an absolute hoot when you said "Is Mam the naked neighbour?" It was like "Eeek TMI Dad!". Loved the trip to the Italian shop and your new Homewares. I have the new Stanley Tucci book on order- can't wait for it to arrive.
Hi Luke hope you’ve had a great week thanks for the vlog and for the tour of eataly I really need to go this year it’s on my wish list As like you and Zara I just love all things Italian and I’m so jel you’re off to Italy next month but looking forward to you hopefully vlogging while you’re there 🙏♥️ lotsa love have a great weekend x x
Hi luke great vlog as always, yep the curtain hooks r a right pain they r so fiddley so I try to get curtains wit the rings on the top they just slide on the polls so much easier & quicker, your food always looks delicious 😋 take care lots of love to u zara & Maggie 💞💞💞
A handheld steamer could be used once curtains are hung up on the rod rather than ironing. Zara is absolutely beautiful and so classy. I never looked so pretty even in my younger days hanging curtains that’s for sure. I lol’d at “naked neighbor bit” Food looks amazing, Luke. You both are so cute.
I yelped with laughter when you said ''we are officially done'', more like officially done-in. I have recently made and hung curtains, oof what a palaver, my arms ached for DAYS. Well done.
So glad you are enjoying your home, you and Zara will put your stamp on it and I’m looking forward to your home vlogs and your fab cooking, you are truly inspiring ❤
I enjoyed seeing the various pastas. I rarely eat long spaghetti but I enjoy the various shapes and colors. Amazon has a front loader door prop and stopper to help keep your washer door propped open but not in your way. When you placed your pillar candle in the gorgeous holder I thought It might be nice to place something colorful in the void around the smaller Pillar candle base. For Valentine’s Day you could use pink and red flower petals, green stones or marbles for March etc. or just white items if you’re not looking for that pop of color. I always enjoy your videos, thank you for sharing parts of your lives and Maggie’s.
I’ve just ordered that cookery book on Amazon going to try that curry recipe thank you fora great vlog and don’t go beating yourselves up about hanging curtains keep the vlogs coming thank you xx
Hi Luke, I so agree with you about Pastor being your Chanel or Gucci. I would much rather be in a foodie shop that’s why I love when you do these videos. Thanks. 🇨🇦
Oh you guys make me smile. You know curtains can be a nightmare and Zara it's good to strop every now and then trust me lol. Have a strop walk away and then come back to it after a quick google a nd it all comes together most times. You guys are doing so well you will be pros at DIY then it's time to try gardening skills that's very calming though good to calm even the worst strop. Take care you guys and hugs to little Maggie xxx
Good to see you, Zara and Maggie ☺️ -2 on south coast today and snow forecast for Monday (we never get snow, so will believe it when I see it). Congratulations on exceeding your target for the marathon, it will make such a difference and you are bringing a relatively unknown disease to the fore and knowledge is a powerful thing. Love the videos and looking forward to more cooking videos xx
Hi Luke & Zara I laughed so much at you both hanging the curtains you’re both so funny you made my night. 😂. I hate hanging curtains and have been hanging curtains for over 30 years and it’s one thing that’s never got any easier 😂. Your house looks cosy with the curtains you will soon get the hang of it the more you do. Love your candle holders too. Have a lovely evening 🥰💕
I had to giggle when you said it was chilly out because here in Canada 🇨🇦 right now it is -33 °c with windchill and tomorrow is going to be -40°c. You should come for a visit but make sure you bring a warm jacket..😉❤
I would go the Reclamation Yard route for original fireplaces, architraves & ceiling roses. Most of them have websites if you Google. The Wales one that has a TV show attached to it ( i cant remember the name) would be well worth a Google search. Way cheaper than high end London antique shops that will charge 4 times the price.
The position of the bracket is the problem on that side window is needs to be fixed further to the left side that way the curtain will hang over the actual window. The curtains could do with being wider also. Please, a request to save you money, if you buy more curtains get in touch with a local curtain maker. He/ she will come to your house, measure the windows, advise you what will look best and then hang the curtains. They may be a little bit more but at least they will be right. I would come down there myself if I could to help you.
Hi you lovely lot. I was laughing so much as I also hung curtains wrongly before, its a learning curve. Zara dont worry about it, easily done. Yep definitely go for ceiling rose and cornices as they will suit your home. Food looked delicious, your home is looking gorgeous. Good on you bringng awareness about this illness.
great vlog guys curtains are not always easy to hang when ironing best to use a damp teatowel and this will press better without scorch marks. always a joy to watch you both the different pasta looks amazing. love to you all xxx
Hahaha the ironing bit made me laugh! I also ironed new curtains the other week and my partner looked at me like a mad woman!! Safe to say, I gave up after 5 mins and also had a strop! Luckily they are fine now and less creased after being hung up 😂

Luke & Zara, I have noticed that you have glass ceiling lampshades in your house with the white pendants. When we moved in to our house I bought those as they were inexpensive. I recently changed the plastic pendant fitting out for antique brass (mine was from b&q). It elevated the look for not much money. Just a thought if you aren't loving the existing pendant fitting but feel buying something else isn’t where you want to put your pennies just now .
You Tube is also my go to for things that have stumped me. My brother who lives in Lancashire wanted directions from the tram here in Sheffield to a real ale pub. He found a a TH-cam video of a man who did a real time walk from the tram to there. I was distracted by how amazing Zara’s rings are when she was putting the hooks in.
Hi Luke and zara and your lovely Maggie , happy new year to you all , I love coming a long with your shopping vlogs , your home is coming along lovely , oh that's different pasta , beautiful candle holders , be nice on top of a glass cake stand as a table deck and flowers round , I love your laugh Luke , and your hands on your hips , ha ha I use to sew curtains as a job , Zara well done sweetie , aww lovely you do your house together so sweet x 😘
Great vlog Luke lovely to see you,Zara and Maggie settling in😊 .ive done the same thing with curtains when I first moved in the fuller the look the more panels you need ,it’s not the easiest of jobs but you both did really well.Eataly looked amazing I love all the pasta shapes as well ❤
Hi Luke! I wish we had an Eataly near us because I'd frequent their store often. We love trying different kinds of pastas, sauces, cured meats, and sweets. Italian food is just so good! I can relate with your curtain struggles. We're about to go through it this weekend ourselves since we will be looking for double rods to double up our curtains due to an arctic front arriving here in Texas this weekend. I'm not complaining though because we much prefer the winter weather compared to our sticky, sweltering summer heat. Stay warm in your neck of the woods guys & have a blessed rest of the week! Much love from Fort Worth, Texas! 😊❄🌬
A little tip for you Luke …. To remove stickers that are really stuck. An easier and quicker way is to put the hairdryer on it for a minute. It softens the adhesive and peels off incredibly easy. Very satisfying lol.
Enjoyed your vlog Luke, hanging curtains is very frustrating, they look good once you get the hang of it, all those pastas look great, no doubt you will make some great recipes x

Lovely video too watch 👍🥰
Hands up who wants to live with Luke for his cooking,🙋♀️ amazing recipes. Happy New Year to you both
Luke, you’re not a stranger to us, but a friend 🤗. Caroline Ireland 🇮🇪
You should get Mr C over to have a bash at your hob. You can Google hob scraper and Astonish glass hob is worth a try too... ❤
I've got a blanket box full of curtains from various places i've lived, its never a waste of money, and you can make roman blinds out of old curtains even, so its never a waste. Or you can take them to a dressmaker to make blinds or cushions for you. X
You two are so funny! I'm glad you figured out your curtains. The neighborhood might not be happy that Zara put up curtains!😄 Great video...thank you!
Hi Luke, I’m mostly a lurker but have been watching you on and off for about 3 years. I have to say since you moved into your new home I am really vibing with your content. Look forward to watching you grow into your home with Zara and the pup ❤
Same here, the move has breathed new life..
Lovely to see you both supporting each other with those home tasks, it’s all a learning curve. Dinner looked delicious ❤
Luke, you are also bringing awareness, I never knew about this illness. 💗
“Many challenges in life, but seems like we get most of them”

You two have done so well in your house for the amount of time you have been in there. You should be proud of yourselves 💪 🤗 👍
Love the “ strops “ 🤣

When you have a curtain pole that is a bit long, just put one of the rings the other side of the curtain pole bracket...If you see what I mean. :)

Hilarious, I had lots of accidents (and strops!!!) with curtains when first starting out and you were so supportive of each other it’s a joy to watch
This vlog was charming. You two are so funny together. OMG the Sunday dinner made my mouth water. And I’ve just had dinner, so there’s that.
You are both hilarious 😂 loved watching you both.....curtains 🤣 😄 😂😂😂😂
Hairdryer heat on the stickers help get them off, hope this helps

Thanks for introducing me to Mutti sauce I love it
Oh, you also put one hook on the other side of the bracket! That keeps it in place and makes it hang right.

Lovely video. Curtains look great in Zara’s room. The meals you prepare always look so scrumptious.
Curtain hanging can be a little tricky at times❤❤

You will get full window coverage if you mount the brackets for the curtain rod further out from the window opening.
Oh lovely to have you back in Italy! 🇮🇹 You can keep practicing your Italian and eat alllot of pasta 😎
Lovely to watch you all at home ❤❤
Hi Luke & Zara I laughed so much at you both hanging the curtains you’re both so funny you made my night. 😂. I hate hanging curtains and have been hanging curtains for over 30 years and it’s one thing that’s never got any easier 😂. Your house looks cosy with the curtains you will soon get the hang of it the more you do. Love your candle holders too. Have a lovely evening 🥰💕
Those curtains look like a nightmare to hang!!! Props to both of you for figuring it out.

Great vlog love the candle holders food looks great ❤
Lovely video Luke. The curtains look great. 😊🇨🇦❤️
great vlog guys curtains are not always easy to hang when ironing best to use a damp teatowel and this will press better without scorch marks. always a joy to watch you both the different pasta looks amazing. love to you all xxx
Hahaha the ironing bit made me laugh! I also ironed new curtains the other week and my partner looked at me like a mad woman!! Safe to say, I gave up after 5 mins and also had a strop! Luckily they are fine now and less creased after being hung up 😂
When you’re in Verona, have a look in the markets for lovely tasselled curtain tie back cords.
I’ve got some I got in Florence.
They come in tons of colours!
Hi Luke I am glad to see you again
I think we have all measured up for curtains incorrectly and had to fiddle with the placement of the curtain hooks at some point in our lives. It's a right of passage. Lesson learnt. I think you are both doing a great job navigating all the 'first home projects'. 👍🤗🤗
Zara, that wasn't a 10th of what I'd be like if I was trying to hang curtains! I majorly lose it with stuff like that and I'm quite patient person too. I think you did rather well given Luke was filming the whole thing and was giggling at you! 😂
Great video❤️ Thank you. That crumble looked gorgeous btw 😍❤
You can get a pre-made ceiling rose at home depot, or any home improvement store. The curtain bracket coul be moved a bit further out
You need to move the rod that holds the curtain rod out further. The curtain can only hang as far out as these rod brackets.
Always iron inside out, wrong side of fabric; I learned this the hard way.
Cheers! 🥂
Hi
Zara it is very stressful ironing and hanging curtains. Strop all you like😂😂 Most of us would have a lie down to recover. Luke's gorgeous cooking shines through. And Maggie is exhausted again. She just wants to cuddle you both and watch a movie💞
Hang the curtains first then steam them..simples 😊
Curtains are hard. Agree with 1.5 excess measurement. The candle holders are stunning.
You need 90 " wide curtains for a full gather .length is
53 = windowsill
70 = halfway windowsill and floor
90= floor / door .
Luke you really need to do your own Cookery Book, it would be a Best Seller. … need to think of an Amazing Title For your Book…❤
I cannot stand hanging curtains so I feel your pain!! Well done Zara, ironing them too, go girl!
Eyelet curtains are easy peasy to put up!
Loved the vlog. Food looks amazing. X
Love the candle holders so cosy ❤

Happy New Year to you, Zara and Maggie! The Chicken Ruby looks immense, my go to order in the Dishoom restaurant 🙌🏼
I have run over 15 marathons and my advice is to follow a specific training plan and know that you can trust the training to see you through!
Love you guys your so funny like Morecambe and wise😂❤ only better looking ❤❤❤❤❤😊
Yay another vlog

I'm not complaining though because we much prefer the winter weather compared to our sticky, sweltering summer heat. Stay warm in your neck of the woods guys & have a blessed rest of the week! Much love from Fort Worth, Texas! 😊❄🌬
I loved how you told us what pasta went with what sauce.
OMG! I’m starving! That food looked soooooo good.
Love Maggie ‘s new water bowl ♥️
Love the curtins
I have similar candle holders but from Homebase a few years ago
A little tip for you Luke …. To remove stickers that are really stuck. An easier and quicker way is to put the hairdryer on it for a minute. It softens the adhesive and peels off incredibly easy. Very satisfying lol.
Enjoyed your vlog Luke, hanging curtains is very frustrating, they look good once you get the hang of it, all those pastas look great, no doubt you will make some great recipes x
Good video on how to hang curtains welldone got it perfectly inthe end, 😊
I love the dogs bowl , very design like and also do hate hanging curtains
You should use the steamer. So much easier for curtains than ironing. I may not be the only person to mention this. Mine never leaves a mark.
