Quit watching the NBA in the mid 70s. Came back when Magic and Bird came in. Watched every game I could for the next thirteen years. Bird and Magic are still my favorite players.

I started to watch the NBA in the 70s, The Lakers with Wilt, West, Goodrich, etc were my team. But I switched allegiance to the Celtics when Larry arrived. Watched the NBA thru the Jordan years, Kobe, etc until maybe 5 years ago when I became sick and tired of the new modern NBA. But Bird is the best I have ever seen, better than Jordan, LeBron, etc.

Funny,, even though I went with the Celtics, I always had. my favorites on the Lakers: West and Baylor. Wanted the Celtics to win,but also wanfed those two to havs a good game. Same was true about Magic in the 80s All the best.

When Larry smacked his face on the parquet in that game against the Pacers, he actually suffered a *fractured right cheekbone and concussion* , and was told he was done for the game- he snuck back out of the locker room when the team doc’s back was turned to rejoin the team.
Broken cheekbone, concussion and double vision - and that tough MF got back out on the court and DOMINATED, leading the Celtics to victory.
Keep digging into Larry, and then you’ll truly understand why he is called Larry Legend.

In a league packed with legends, he DOMINATED. He beat everybody there was to beat in his era. We knew after his first year he was going to be that player. He took a 29 win team and turned them into a 67 win team including playoffs as a rookie. Great days for Celtics basketball!!

Larry was certainly a legend. Won Rookie of the Year, MVP, Coach of Year, Executive of the Year, and has a Gold Medal in Basketball, he was top of the game at pretty much all levels.

Yep, Basketball is a team game and Bird exemplifies that. Sure, Bird had games with incredible individual performances, but he was a team player and probably the best to play the game in that aspect.

Its paper thing between MJ and Bird for me. If I was drafting an all time team and someone took MJ first, and I had the next pick................I wouldnt be upset taking Bird.
      Then Magic, Kobe, Kareem...Wilt.
Very tough for me to put anyone from this current generation in the top 10. The game has become so soft and there is no defense allowed with sending a player to jail for playing it.
James Harden is the epitome of what is wrong with the NBA......No defense and 40 shots a game.
      LeFlop.......nuff said.
If Curry played in the 80's and 90's........he would be taking 3 pointers from the concession stand.

Magic & Larry, resurrected the game of basketball...My dad loved basketball, but stopped watching, until the competition between Johnson & Bird was highlighted...What my Dad used to say, about Larry's game, is that it reminded him of someone, who wasn't only playing basketball, but also, volleyball, dodgeball, football, soccer, & strategic chess, all at the same time, & what made him so great 😊He certainly was one of the most unique & gifted players, I ever watched!

Larry Bird was the BEST all round player the league has ever seen, period. He was dangerous from anywhere on the court including behind the back board. He did things routinely that other player could only dream of doing or have nightmares about. His mental Acquity and game awareness were unrivaled. He played with injuries that would sideline player today for a month. He and Magic were fierce competitors on the court and became fierce lifelong friends off the court. Larry was the reason I became a Celtics fan and I live in Missouri. I watched him from his first game to his last. As Magic told him when Larry retired, "Larry, there will never, ever, EVER be another Larry Bird. He should be ranked in the top three all time, He and Magic saved the NBA that got lower ratings than re-runs of Gun Smoke. Why he isn't is a discussion for another time.

Guys, who's the Goat 🐐 of Basketball 🏀??? Here are 8 great videos that make suggestions to who is the greatest. Of course everyone is going to have their opinion/favorite. So that you don't have to track them down.
All 8 of these videos are great and about 3 years old. Lebron has the most views and Larry Bird is 2nd out of the list👇.
I personally enjoyed Larry Birds the most. Not only is he in the conversation of who's the goat 🐐. He won Gold 🥇 *(with his NBA Rivals like Magic and MJ)* at the Olympics, became a Head Coach, then went upstairs to the Head Office.... running everything!! Larry's *GENUINE friendship* with Magic Johnson was awesome to see, on and off the court. Oh yeah, Larry also had *Rookie of the Year* as well 😎...btw, when Larry's face hit the floor in this video, he had a concussion and fractured his cheek bone!!!

How classy.. I've dedicated my life to basketball and I've dedicated my life to the Boston Celtics...and I had a blast.. goodnight. What a wonderful way to say goodbye from Larry Legend.

Bird was more then just nice , he had "IT" ,he could and did it all ,but ,I think that court IQ,and hustle, made up for not jumping real high, watching him live was bball , entertainment at its best and depending on who they played you got a fight for free ,,cause they really went at it ,glad I grew up on 80' and 90's bball 🏀🐦💚 #LB33

Bird is my #3 on my all-time list behind #1 MJ (the greatest 'small player of all-time), #2 Wilt (the greatest 'big man' all-time). Wilt & Bird simply do not get the respect they deserve and most people's argument against Bird is that "he wasn't athletic" but isn't that actually a plus for him to do what he did and 'lack athleticism'? All NBA players are athletic, let's be honest but most of them can't fly like MJ, Vince Carter, Dominique, Spud Webb, etc. Yes, Spud Webb was one of the greats for dunking considering his height. Too, Bird got the nickname, "Legend" from his fellow players unlike some today who give themselves grand nicknames. Larry called himself "the Hick from Frenchlick (Indiana)". He is also the only player who would regularly tell the opposing team what the next play was and what he was going to do, where/how he was going to shoot (even would call 'bank') and then he would execute it just as he described. That's just not human!

The only player in NBA history to average at least 24 points 10 rebounds and 6 assists for his career. The only one.

Larry maybe not top 5 but for sure top 10. Maybe if he didn’t get hurt he’d be top 5. Legend for sure.

Larry bird in the soft NBA today would average a triple double in his sleep !! People just don’t know how good he was. He played most of his career hurt. ! Bird averaged 10 rebounds a game for his career ! Almost 7 assists game ! He doesn’t get enough credit
