Larry Bird Greatest Trash Talker REACTION
th-cam.com/video/AWShYnRqGoo/w-d-xo.html
The game against the Pacers when he fractured his cheek he had spent the night before that game in the hospital in traction. His teammates said he struggled to get dressed out to play.
Top 5:
C - Wilt Chamberlain
PF - Tim Duncan
SF - Larry Bird
SG - Michael Jordan
PG - Magic Johnson
With the GOAT going to Wilt Chamberlain....forget the number of records he holds by himself....the 100 point game or him shutting down Magic Johnson, James Worthy, Byron Scott, A.C. Green and Bernard King at 43 years of age.....
He is the only person in human history capable of blocking Kareem Abdul-Jabbar's skyhook at the apex of its shot trajectory on a regular basis at the end of his career. The most unblockable shot in human history was regularly snagged out of the air by this superhuman of an athlete.
“Jordan made you look slow, Bird made you look stupid” James Worthy
I love that quote because it's so true!
MJ used to embarrass you fk yall talking about 😂
@@mannyneva1760 Its literally a quote from James Worthy, who knows what hes talking about
@@imetzl9340 there’s literally quotes of the others saying what I said and did what I said

Birds retirement ceremony, there was NO GAME. The Boston Garden was SOLD OUT.
He meant that much to us... and still does.
@rich52569 100% My dad was there with a few friends. I was too young to go. I absolutely love these vids of the younger ones seeing how great he was.
@@ssimpalaguy1I was there too! Won tickets off the radio
bird didnt LEARN IT from anyone- they learned it from him
На наши советские ребята поначалу над ним с восхищением смеялись.
The more you dig into Larry Legend, the more impressed you’ll be - especially when you hear the *other* legends of his era talking about him.
When the players back, then speak of him, they sound odd, and some still sound afraid
Not odd. Awed lol
Yeah only thing that he played 9 seasons before the ankle surgeries and back breakz
Feet got him in the late '80s/early '90s, he f'd up his back summer of '85 putting in a driveway for his mom and still won his record tying 3rd straight mvp '85-'86 season.@@innosanto
Bird, MJ, Magic, Kobe, Wilt
Bro Larry Bird is the creator and master of the step back.
Bird was the most complete player to ever play the game. Not one hole, and every part of his game was better than everyone else. He played at a time with the most HOF and beat the all. Even swept Jordan twice, couldn't even win one game against him in the playoffs. He looked like a man among boys. Magic is right, there will never be another Larry Bird
Im 78. I cant say I like being this old, but some of the reasons Im glad for it is Ive been able to see all this in real time and the golden era of jazz and live at a time when people could and did things like storming the court and there were no gun shots. It truly was a more civil time.
:)))
You’re lucky, Bird was insane. He was my favorite player growing up and all I had was clips
And more wild...a more alive time...less polarized..less true hate 👍🏾👍🏾
People forget...he didn't shoot a 3 pointer till his rookie year in the NBA. That was the first year for the three.
Man, I feel so lucky to have grown up in the Magic and Bird era and to watch them go head to head
Dive deeper into Bird. I watched his entire career the man is goated. Jordan greatest 1v1 player ever Bird the greatest team player ever
yep
It doesn't make highlight reels but Bird was also an excellent rebounder, averaging 10.0 per game for his career.
A higher rebound avg than the famous Hall of Fame rebounder Patrick Ewing
Larry also averaged 50/40/90 over four seasons in his career. Bird is the GOAT.
You really need to watch Larry Bird’s Greatest Passes Re-Edited and Larry and Magic: A Courtship of Rivals. When Larry came back into the game after fracturing his cheekbone, they didn’t mention that he had sustained a concussion and had double vision but still willed himself to bring Boston back to victory. The dude had broken his back in 85 and would have to be in traction for hours before a game to realign his spine to be able to play. Nobody was tougher than Larry Bird, especially mentally. He would eat them up in today’s marshmallow league. No painkillers EVER. He was so well conditioned he could outlast everyone.
Yes to all of this. You'll get hooked.
Yeah. Bird said he was seeing three rims, so he aimed for the one in the middle
When Larry started playing basketball, the 3 pt line didn’t exist. It was his first year in the NBA that the 3 pt line was put into play.
Go on the bird journey. He is an incredible one of a kind human.
Excellent reaction . Keep watching bird and he'll end up being your 🐐
Watching him play will surely entertain anyone who does not have any bias.
I was at the Pacers playoff when Larry snuck past the team doctor and came out with a fracured cheek bone and a mild concussion to win the game... When MEN played the game!
Take it from someone who's seen him play in person - he was that good! His court awareness and game IQ were out of this world. Hated him when he played against my Knicks, but couldn't deny his greatness then or now. . . enjoy the discovery of all his talents on the court!
Sorry he be hurting your Knicks! Ha ha! But he did do it to EVERYONE... Consolation though of having Bernard King, Patrick Ewing, John Starks and some other great players of that time! As a Celtic fan Bernard was one of my favorites from other teams to watch. A scoring machine!
Definitely one of the greats. I once ran into (well ran after, if I'm honest) Latrell Spreewell and told him he wasn't taking that breathe before his free throws (he was heading to his car and I'd spotted him from the restaurant at which I was having lunch) I'm sure he was trying to figure out who the lunatic lady was running out calling him lol - he turned things around after that and was making those free throws again - so, of course I told my husband it was all thanks to me! lolol :) @@tom7471
His defense was questionable. A lack of dunks, lay-ups, finger rolls and put backs. I remember Larry in the 80's. He was outstanding and by far and away the best player on the Boston Celtics. I just watched MJ's Mix Tape compared to Larry's. Bird is a better jump shooter, rebounder and passer. MJ dominates every other category.
Although I wasn't comparing the two, (MJs in my top 5 of all time) I would say that Bird's defense isn't as questionable as many people think - he did make a number of all defensive teams in his career - that doesn't just happen. . .
@@GhostbustersPhone8489
He knew where every player was on the court at any given time...I used to marvel at his passes.
Yeah, I mean think about all the rules the NBA has now to prevent overly physical play - flagrant fouls, automatic flagrants if you hit someone's head, players aren't allowed to leave the bench if there's an altercation on court, flagrant foul if you land in a shooter's landing space, and of course no hand checking on defense. (That famous foul where McHale took Kurt Rambis down was just a common foul - no ejection, no flagrant (didn't exist back then).) All of those rules had to be put in place...which means there was a time BEFORE those rules existed. Well, that was the 80's (and before the 80's).
Spot on!
I think the rule changes began as a result of the Pistons "Jordan Rules" era. I'm from that era and loved physical defense but those cat's took it too far. Now we've gone so far with it that the game is unwatchable.
Thanks for the vid! And thanks for being so open minded... there's vid called "Making The Case for Larry Bird" that you might find interesting.
It doesn't matter what you, I or any other schmoe thinks. What matters is the best that ever played the game think he is amongst if not the best.
if you haven't seen: "Larry Bird Greatest Passer of All Time (Re-edit w/ New Footage)" you need to watch that...Bird had more full court dimes than most people have regular assists...he was Magic but with an added outside threat...winning the first 3 three point contests....
Larry bird career 24-10-6 a game
Founder of the 40/50/90 club .
Considered by many The most clutch shooter in NBA history
One stat that doesn’t show up . Bird was a savant at running down loose balls
Game six of the 1986 finals bird is in a jump ball with Olajuwon of all people . I’m watching this live on TV thinking Houston is getting the ball back. Some how Bird beats Olajuwon and wins the Jump ball .
There are better scorers, better rebounders , very few who were betters passers , better defenders. There has not been a better overall player than Larry Joe a Bird .
He just knew how to play the game of basketball.
I remember when he was a GM and walked out on the court in his suit. He just casually picked up the ball and busted a three like it was nothing. Everyone on the Pacers were shocked by that.
I saw Bird play when I had season tickets to Knicks games in the 1980's. An era that produced more Hall Of Famers than any era. Bird won three consecutive MVP's in those years. He is easily the top 3 greatest players I've ever seen. React to Larry Bird Making The Case, or Larry Bird Greatest Passer with New Footage re-edit. SUBBED!!!!!
I, too, had the the (mis)fortune of seeing many Knicks games at MSG during that era. Bird was just feared.
He invented that step back, or at least perfected it. It wasn't a question of letting them storm the court. You can't stop them. You couldn't stop them today if they wanted to. We had a different mindset back then.
This is Rick. I lived through that era. Greatest ever. Magic and Bird saved the game. The NBA finals came on at 10:30. And they were delayed games played earlier. Bird and Magic put it back in prime time. No joke. For real
actually it was never in prime time till Bird and Magic. i was 15 in 79 when they started the process of saving the game.
Bird and Magic played on takecdelay until 1982
You should check out the re-edit of "Larry Bird Greatest Passer Ever" if you want to see just how crazy good his court vision was.
best passer ever- you need to watch his passing hhlights
The more you dive into Larry Legend the higher he'll go in your estimation. You're gonna enjoy the trip and it is a trip..
there was no 3 point shot until Larry's rookie year. he didn't grow up shooting 3 pointers
I don't think you can definitively say who is the goat. When you get to goat level, they are all great. Larry was and is my favorite to watch.
Please react to 'Bird is the word.' Thank you.
Larry's first season in the NBA was the first year with a three point line, at any level
Aba?
The more you learn about Bird, the higher up they rake he goes. In todays game, he'd be eating people alive.
Great reaction..

Keep digging..Larry is a badass!!
I hear Larrys grandson is playing ball now and is pretty good. Maybe we’ll see another Bird on the court.
Larry has always been my number one. Each can have their own number one and that's cool, but I will never ever respect a player that FLOPS. LARRY WOULD MENTALLY demolish a flopper in his day
For people who are starting to watch these past greats, I suggest watching Magic's mixtape and then watching the documentary Magic vs Bird: A Courtship of Rivals. It will help you appreciate that era of basketball.
Lol. Larry was just all that. No funny stuff on the videos, he was just that good.

Larry LEGEND! Look into how and who he learned the game from as a kid playing with MEN!
Yep, you don’t see it mentioned as much as it should. Kudos to those guys for letting a kid play with them. But then they don’t talk about how much he practiced and challenged himself.
The night he retired the Arena was Sold Out Standing Room Only and there was no Game that Day, Legend
You *have* to watch Larry Bird's "Trash-talking* video. Frikin hilarious!
Larry always knew where everyone was on the court.
Pat Riley - " if I had to pick a player to win a game, I'll take Michael Jordan. If I had to pick a player to save my life, I'll take Larry Bird. Great reaction. I highly recommend the documentary A Courtship of Rivals. It's my favorite documentary of all time. Behind the scenes of how they saved the NBA and built a friendship over 15 years.
Thanks for the recommendation!
Larry played his whole career hurt! You should watch “5 times Larry played hurt”. It puts a new perspective on his life as a Goat!
LARRY LEGEND IS A UNICORN AND THE TRUE GOAT!!! 🐐 ☘️

Bird's self proclaimed perfect game in the 86 finals, game 6
Game 4 finals Celtics vs Lakers 84
81 Celtics vs Dr J's 76er's Eastern conference finals... Bird and co came back from a 3-1 deficit and continued to win the finals!!
Just a few stats...
Bird is the only non-center to win 3 MVP's in a row (Wilt Chamberlain and Bill Russell other 2)
3 years straight 3pt contest
All defensive team 3 yrs (B)
Best all around player in the 80s
He is my GOAT end of rant Thanks for the view and comments
The GOAT in my humble opinion.... would love if you reacted to more reactions of him, you will definitely get a better appreciation of what he did for basketball!
Stay tuned
Great reaction, honestly, and genuine take on what you watched. GREAT JOB
Thanks so much!
I'm glad that I came up during the mid/late 80s and lived to see the era of the greatest rivalries. Celtics/Lakers, Celtics/76ers, Knicks/Bulls, Knicks/Pacers, Bulls/Pistons and later on Knicks/Heat. The Eastern Conference from the mid 80s through the mid 90s was wild. Every game was a playoff caliber game.
He was so fun to watch play. Even when you hated him for beating your team. Lol
Sorry for your losses, from a Celtic fan...
Larry is the GOAT
For someone who is not from this era, you really need to check out the 1992 Dream Team documentary. 11 future Hall of Famers. Magic and Larry were the co-captains. EVERYONE and I mean EVERYONE was glued to their TVs for every game! Most beautiful basketball you’ve ever seen. It was a surreal time 😊. At 73, I still watch the documentary often and still get chills. Also, last time Larry and Magic played. Hope you do a reaction. I would love to hear what you have to say
Wait. You think Larry Bird wasn't 'modern'? There's nothing anyone today can do better than Larry Bird in his prime.
Maybe sprint down court, but that is it. He was the best!
Liked and subscribed. You haven't seen enough to put him in your top 10 yet. Please do some more!
Welcome to the Greatness Gang community ❤️ 👑
One of the best things about being a fan in that era was that at the beginning of a new season, you already knew your favorite team players... They were the same ones from the end of last season.
what made Larry better than all the newer guys is he was there to play Every game
Nice to see a young man who truly understands basketball greatness in any era.
Nice reaction....the 80s, 90s, and then 2000- 2010 were my favorite period of the NBA. But the 80s with the Celtics, Lakers, Rockets, 76 ers, and Hawks and Pistons was pure gold 🪙❤
No AI crap here bro, Larry was amazing especially for a guy who couldnt jump high or run very fast, but his court IQ and all around skills and much more made him one of the greatest the NBA had ever seen, his shots were virtually unguardable
Every finals in the 80s had either the Celtics or the Lakers... it was an awesome time to watch the game...
He is a GOAT! As are all the other greats you named! During the NFL playoffs when the quarterback caught his own pass I remembered Larry caught his own rebounds. Fun reaction to watch! I subbed, let’s go! 😊
You might not be aware, Larry is one of only three players to win three consecutive NBA MVPs.
I was lucky enough to see Larry and Magic on tv live in the 80's. It was amazing. Larry will always be the GOAT to me. And Magic is a close second. I don't really care about stats. Those two were the most fun to watch play.
They were fun and electrifying! The league just has less of that now. The three point line has taken more away from the game than given, in my mind.
Can't tell you how much I enjoyed this. Your jaw was on the floor, and 𝗜 𝗴𝗲𝘁 𝗶𝘁! ♥︎
Glad you enjoyed it ❤️
great reaction King of the Mix, you didn't over talk it, Larry Legend's play speaks for itself...I began following Bird and Magic 1979, and the great Dr. J and others earlier, but yeah the Legend and Magic took the NBA to the next level, the crazy thing is, he made plays like this every game- with both hands, guy was unstoppable and always 100% into it, like a chess/kung fu/basketball pit bull...Larry Legend, the real GOAT!
Thnx Mike
He is still the King Trash Talker.
"I thought, 'Man, that works'" - Larry Bird learned the stepback from a Celtics benchwarmer
Larry Bird even recalled his former teammate doing double stepbacks in practice.
It was unclear where the move originated, but the Boston Celtics legend said he learned it by watching a former teammate, Terry Duerod, perform it in practice.
Oh man, I wish you could have seen that era, too. I lived in Terre Haute when Larry was at ISU, and followed his career from there. Just about drove off the road when he stole Isiah's pass! GOAT!
Welcome to the Legend of Larry. All those names you just mentioned all wish they could've been as great as Larry
Famous Bird quote to his teammates,"you want to win the game?give me the ball and get out of the way
Larry and Magic have a lot of love for each other.
With good reason. I hope this reactor watches Courtship of Rivals. When times were or are tough, they are there for each other.
I will.
Jordan made you look slow. Larry made you look stupid. -James Worthy
Fun Fact: Larry really started doing all the behind the back passes and other fancy things after he found out Magic Johnson couldn't play anymore because of HIV. Back then, we didn't know enough about the disease, and so, it was like Magic was given a death sentence. Bird was so upset, not only did he call Magic, but he started doing those types of passes (which were a Magic specialty) in honor of him! Also, of all the basketball players and even counting his own teammates, Larry was one of the few people to call Magic after finding out he had HIV. Magic was deeply touched by Larry doing this and the two have been very good friends ever since.
Wow! ❤️
From someone who was able to watch to Larry Bird every night when he was playing, thanks for the respect of appreciating him. He was really something.
Larry Bird is the first player to accomplish the 50-40-90 club, the only person in NBA history to be named Rookie of the Year, 3 point Champion three straight years, MVP three times straight (When competing against Michael Jordan, Magic Johnson, Dr. J, Kareem Abdul-Jabbar, James Worthy and many more), Finals MVP, All-Star MVP, Coach of the Year, and Executive of the Year. Also Hall Of Fame Head Coach Pat Riley once said " If I had to choose a player to make rh winning shot of a game. I would pick Michael Jordan, but if I had to pick a player to make a shot to save my life. I pick Larry Bird."
LeBron, James, and two videos says his top three are Larry Bird, Michael Jordan, Dr. Jay in that order great vid I would recommend making the case for Larry Bird. That’s a good one too.
Bird is the greatest small forward ever!
Bird and Magic was the best thing that ever happened to basketball.
The impact they had on the NBA will never be matched…, ever.
I remember watching all this and it was wonderful. The game was allowed to be much more physical!
Yeah….yes yes yes yes yes!

Larry Legend GOAT! Mr. 4th quarter! Mr.Clutch!
He didn't learn that step back from anyone, he invented it.
He learned it while at IU, he talks about it in his book. Might not have been at IU, my point is he picked it up from someone.
@@dreamxclown Obviously. I mean he's the one who made that move a "thing" in the NBA
@mattphillips538 yes he made it a thing, he didn't invent it.
@@dreamxclown It's literally impossible to point to a person and say "he invented the modern stepback", we can only point to the first person who did it in front of us all.
@mattphillips538 I'm just talking about bird and the step back not anything else. You said he didn't learn it from anyone, I thought you and others would like to know a bit of Bird's history and that he did pick it up from somewhere.
He was physically impaired.... Dude played with a mangled finger .... Broken back... Torn tendons... Double vision... Broken cheek bones... Achilles issues... Dudes a monster... And he swept Jordan.... The best in the game with these defects.... I'll say this and say it again... Bird is the GOAT
Larry Bird was the first player to perfect that step back.
I watched him he was great! That shot when he got his own shot was in a playoff game. He got his step back his rookie year from a guy that played off the bench in practice by the name of Terry Duerod. You need to watch more videos to get the full scope of how great he actually was. He and magic Johnson saved the league and then passed the torch to Mj. You need to watch his passing videos and so many more to really see for yourself. Enjoyed the video.Bird knew where all his teammates were at all times.
My favorite part of this video is watching Larry try to get off of the court while the crowd is storming it. 😂
😂 noticed too
He wasn't a passer.... He was the passer. Larry legend greatest player to ever touch a basketball
Pat Riley said if he needed a shot to win a game, he would choose Jordan. If he needed a shot to save his life, he would choose Bird. I was fortunate to watch his career as it happened. He was almost a psychic on the court.
