Bird was a finesse player, so todays 'less fouls allowed' game would play right to him anyway. He worked in a very rough environment back in the day and was exceptionally successful. Think how he'd fare in today's powder-puff-by-comparison game? Plus, the mentality was that you only took 3s when you needed to go back ahead or win. Today, with half court sets revolving around 3s, I'm pretty sure Bird would be dropping about 32-34 a game to go along with his 10 rebounds and 6 assists per game.
The biggest misconception about Larry Bird was that he was just a jump shooter. Larry Bird is one of the greatest all around players to ever lace up a pair of sneakers. Larry was a KILLER.

You have to watch some of shit talking videos…he was insane. Jamal Mashburn tells the one of the best stories about Bird trash talking. When some college boys (CHriss Webber, Jamal Mashburn, Rodney Rodgers, and a few others) played against the “Dream Team”. Rodney Rodgers shit talked Bird after their first scrimmage saying “you ain’t hit a jumper since 84”. Magic heard him. The next day when they took the court Magic fed Larry Bird the ball 8 times in a row. Each time Bird got the ball, he told Rodney Rodgers, exactly what he was going to do. Going left two dribbles, off the glass…….bucket. Going right, 1 dribble, spin……bucket. Jamal Mashburn said he did that 8 or 9 times in a row, always saying what he was going to do, and then sank the shot. After the 9th bucket, he ran over to the sideline to check himself out and when he passed Rodgers he said, “look like 84 huh?”

Larry was a TEAM player. Best all around player ever. #1 Wilt #2 MJ #3 Bird..... #4 Curry, best shooter EVER and changed the game, now it`s about the 3.
Bird was amazing to watch back in the 80s. He was my hoops hero. I always get aggravated when I see people dissing on Larry and saying he's not athletic. Did you not see him posterize like three or four people with dunks here? One of them was Dennis Rodman, one of the league's best defenders, so he was plenty athletic. Maybe he wasn't the truly elite athlete that Jordan, Wilkins, or Drexler, among others, were, but he was definitely athletic enough to get the job done. To say he was 'unathletic' is absurd. I liked your comment about the Converse. Yeah, imagine Bird playing his career in his own equivalent of Air Jordans. Imagine Bird with no bone spurs that kept him out a whole season and plagued him a couple others. I hope there is a multiverse, and somewhere there's a universe out there where Bird's has no bone spurs, because he always had access to good shoes that wouldn't mess his feet up years later...where he didn't injure his back shoveling rock onto his mother's driveway instead of hiring someone else to do it...where he had a full career, unhampered by nagging injuries. That would have been a sight to behold.
One time some cheerleaders for the other team saw Bird in a bar the night before a game, so they decided "let's get him drunk, give our guys the edge by giving Bird a hangover." He pounded down every drink they gave him, then the next day pounded their team into hamburger. Ran by the cheerleaders and said "thanks for the drinks." Nothing got by him.
IMO, Magic & Larry resurrected the game of basketball...My dad loved basketball, but stopped watching, until the competition between Johnson & Bird was highlighted...What my Dad used to say, about Larry's game, is that it reminded him of someone, who wasn't only playing basketball, but also, volleyball, dodgeball, football, baseball, soccer, & strategic chess, all at the same time, & what made him so great 😊He certainly was one of the most unique & gifted players, I ever watched! I would love you to react to the video, Larry Bird STORIES that prove he's the BEST TRASH TALKER, told by NBA players: th-cam.com/video/v7Id88T5DPsf/w-d-xo.html if you haven’t already seen or reacted to it 😊Thanks!
Larry was listed as 6'9" but Jamal Mashburn said he was "legit 6'10". Larry Bird, Bill Russell, and Wilt Chamberlain are the only players to ever win MVP 3 years in a row. Larry Bird's first year in the league was the first year the three-point line was even used. He didn't grow up as a kid training to shoot threes. He was a natural shooter and learned to capitalize on the three-point line. He's also the only player in NBA history to win Player of the Year, Coach of the Year, and Executive of the Year. He created the 50/40/90 club. He invented the step back. Lebron had to have modeled some of his game after Larry Bird. And Larry Bird is the only superstar that Jordan never beat in a playoff or Finals series. He is the only coach that took his team all seven games against #23. I am not saying that he is better than Jordan, but he knows the game of basketball better than anyone else ever has.
When the announcer said Larry Bird is hurt, you should watch the clip again. His face literally bounced off the floor. He returned to the court to finish the game, with a fractured cheek bone.
If you want to know about Bird you have to look at what his peers say. Magic, Michael Jordan and Kareem all talk about him being their toughest rival. Kobe and Bron talk about him being in their top five. So if you follow bb you have to watch him.
You can take the white part out of the equation because Larry was just different as a basketball player, regardless of his skin color. Many players, both black and white say Larry was one of the best players of all time. There are some great videos with a plethora of Highly celebrated players paying homage to him. Even Magic said he was the best basketball player ever.
There should be context for 11:42 it’s a playoff game and they are down by 1. Bird stealing the inbound and feeding Dennis Johnson to win the game is one of the most shocking plays of my lifetime

The guy on the left in the video should learn his history, next thing you know he will have to be introduced to Bill russell
What I say that was so controversial 👀
If you haven't seen the college Goat look at Pete Maravich!!! 44.2 ppg no 3 point line and only played 3 years!!!
Check out the story about Jayson Williams telling how Bird made him think about un-aliving himself when he had to guard him. Hilarious story.
If you have the link to the video, please drop it so we can react to it. Thank you.🙏🏾🙏🏾
Watch the vid about being the greatest passer. It's ALL passing.
Every Bird fan talks about his passing. Nobody passes like Larry
Bird was 6'9 1/2
Bird was amazing to watch back in the 80s.
Yeah, he was hurt. He had a concussion and a fractured cheekbone. And he STILL came back in and helped them win the game.
One time some cheerleaders for the other team saw Bird in a bar the night before a game, so they decided "let's get him drunk, give our guys the edge by giving Bird a hangover." He pounded down every drink they gave him, then the next day pounded their team into hamburger. Ran by the cheerleaders and said "thanks for the drinks."
Nothing got by him.
Larry was a small forward. 6’10” …
😮💨😮💨😮💨
Now it's time to dive in to Pistol Pete.
Legendary 😮💨😮💨😮💨
Larry Bird #1.
Thank you for the super Thanks 🙏🏾 Love you forever 💗💕💗💕💕💗💗💕
And thank for the video link as well too
@@dj730xx I think you guys will love it! It gives more detail than the regular trash talking video, and from the perspective of NBA players ☺
No you didn't say deep fried!! 😂❤
Yes we did 🎉😂
When the announcer said Larry Bird is hurt, you should watch the clip again. His face literally bounced off the floor. He returned to the court to finish the game, with a fractured cheek bone.
They sell a new product called Kleenex.
Larry Legend is 6 10
If you want to know about Bird you have to look at what his peers say. Magic, Michael Jordan and Kareem all talk about him being their toughest rival. Kobe and Bron talk about him being in their top five. So if you follow bb you have to watch him.
3:21 7ft 6in Manute Bol
You can take the white part out of the equation because Larry was just different as a basketball player, regardless of his skin color.
Many players, both black and white say Larry was one of the best players of all time. There are some great videos with a plethora of Highly celebrated players paying homage to him. Even Magic said he was the best basketball player ever.
There should be context for 11:42 it’s a playoff game and they are down by 1. Bird stealing the inbound and feeding Dennis Johnson to win the game is one of the most shocking plays of my lifetime
In every category of basketball Larry Bird is in the top 10 of the greatest !!! In every category !!!Let that sink in and keep race out of it ,damn MF's be tripping on that
Nice reaction mates , can i suggest Larry Bird Making the Case , it goes more in depth , and checkout 86 Celtics Making the Case , you will be amazed , impressed and suprised , some things will make more sense aswell 🇦🇺🍻🇺🇸
Sayless @kumasabi
Pacer game he was knocked out "Bid is hurt, Bird is down" he was unconscious and he returned "fracture of the right cheek".
I don't watch today's game, sucks, soft players, sit out all the time, half speed, travel continuously.
1st. Please Hit Your < , One Time Because You Miss Things When You Stop It & Then Start It Back Up Again. When You Hit The < , It Only Takes It Back A Few Seconds. 2. Try Not To Talk Over Your Video While It's Playing, Just Stop It & Then Talk. Also, YES Bird Was Hurt, He Got A Fractured Cheek-(Not The A**-Cheek)- When He Fell. But Was Able To Still Get That Past To His Teammate. 3. Maybe Don't "Dork-Out" Before Doing Reaction's. Dork Meaning, Getting High. ha ha ha ... Not Trying To Be Mean Just Wanting To Help Ya Out. Thank You For Showing Bird & I Hope You Do More BECAUSE He Does Have A Deep Bag Of Tricks.

I hate it here. Y’all make me do my job. 😂😂😂😂🫶🏾🫶🏾🫶🏾
Lol a safety hazard I thought that was a great comment. The thing about Celtics fans back in the Larry Bird days is the only violence you ever saw was under the basket not when the fans rushed the court like that. I only got to do it once and it was brutally fun
