Beautiful! And a really nice timelapse around 06:20. There's a similar badlands area in southeastern Alberta, but it's further away from the Rocky Mountains, so it's not quite as scenic as what you're showing here. Still, the entire region was once at the bottom of an ocean in ancient times, so there are little fossilized sea creatures almost everywhere you look, it's very cool. If I can get some time away from work this summer, I will try to ride out that way and see if I can make my own video like this one 🙂

I'm glad you liked the time lapse, it was a beautiful morning for filming one. I wanted to film a longer sequence, but I need an external battery for the gopro. The internal battery only gives me an hour to an hour and a half depending on the temperature. Other than that it was a picture perfect day to be out hiking and hunting for fossils! I'd be interested in seeing you shoot a video in some of Alberta's badlands and I'd love to know where they located. When I travel back to Alaska next month, I'm going to be traveling through Alberta a bit and I'd love to put them on my list of places to check out. I've always been impressed with south-central BC's "pocket deserts" and badland areas along the Frasier River. It was about 12 years ago that I realized that Canada even has deserts, complete with lizards and cactus, too. Thanks for watching! ~ Mike

@@AbouttheJourney There's a dinosaur park just a ways north of the town of Brooks that has some pretty nice views (and the Brooks Aquaduct is also an interesting historical relic), but for my money, the best place to go would be the area around the town of Drumheller. Horseshoe canyon is just a ways west of the town and has some really nice views. Or there's Horsethief canyon a little ways NW of the town which also has some good hiking opportunities. Multiple campgrounds in the area. The Bleriot Ferry is near there also - the last operational ferry in Alberta so far as I know - drive right on it and it takes you across the river. It's a pretty scenic area all in all, though it is a bit off the main highway.
