The three big hotels in Belgrade in the 70s were the Metropol, The Jugolavija, and The Slavija. My family stayed at the Metropol nearly every summer in the 70s and 80s during our visits to see family and friends in Yugo. The Hotel Inter Continental was built in Novi Beograd in '81 I think or '82. The problem with New Belgrade was that is was across the river from all the sightseeing in the old city. you had to take either a bus, tram, or a taxi as it was too far to walk to places like the city center or Kalemegdan. I visited Belgrade in 2004 and stayed at the Metropol. To my pleasant surprise the room's interior and furnishing had not changed one bit since the mid 1980s. I was so shocked I had to take a picture of my room because I knew that the hotel had plans for renovation and my time machine of a room would change looks within months of my departure. Pity you didn't go to the old Pionirski Grad outside of Belgrade. My sisters and I stayed there every summer from 1973-1976. Lot of memories there. Three Americans in a Communist summer camp.

14:51 Bald was exceptionally lucky gypsies didn't eat him.
Waah waah
His charisma and genuinely innocent curiosity keeps him from being the target of a LOT of crime i'm sure. Also generally walking with confidence like he does also with a camera deters crime as well im sure.
7:33 i can't believe how bald misses the serbian russian block graffiti on the kiosk :D
Very nice,like your video,and mrs.Bald over there....nice algorthim !!

4:59 "Thats a Yugoslavian plug" showing a typical european plug.
KrebsHD an old one though
The plugs and fuses are exactly the same as the ones we used to have here in Sweden and Norway until about 20 years ago
He seems off, probably the beginning of his covid19 symptoms. It's good to see Bald is ok now. Knowing the terrible case Bald went through.
It has been reported that severe headaches/migraines often predate normal covid symptoms. Assuming that is the case, this means he didn't catch it in Serbia (at around 8:00 they mention it's his second day in Serbia and right after that he says he has a migraine for the last two days). So he probably exported covid into Serbia. Anyway, glad he's doing better now.
Recently there was a soar in the cases and could be from Bald importing it along with others who came in from the same plane as him.
As one of "the six subscribers", I appreciate/d this video.
You get one thousand subscribers a day. Awesome!
And thanks to Mr Bald i am now a subscriber to your channel too , love the old soviet history its so cool
I remember my Dad had a yugo 45. Wouldn't go up hills in Cornwall 🤣 typical bald car
14:30 you can probably find a Yugo in the backstreets of England, I remember them growing up. Not so much the brand of the red car, that looked more modern.
Bald, you usually come across as a pretty nice guy. I love everything you’ve done. And this guy is obviously an admirer. Your appearance in this video was that of a snotty rockstar.
I had the same impression, unfortunately. Maybe he is more into Russia and don't find Belgrade that interesting? To be fair, BG is very western, he should visit the smaller towns. There are all the great characters he might fall in love to
I am glad that I watched this again ! Had forgotten that you two were in bumper cars ! I remember them from the fair , or beach board walk in Florida ! I am a Florida native, but only went to the board walk once 🤷🏻♀️
I’ve managed to see a bit of a vlog in between your ADs video.
Apologies, not sure if I can adjust the frequency of the ads
I remember my grandma used to make that flat bread 😓😓😓 And we used to have a Yugo. Good car. Drove through flooded streets when no other did
Came here for Bald... waiting for more uploads :) cheers
Serbia is a nice country, lots of interesting history going back to Roman days. They make good movies too, both back in Yugo days and today.
Yes, I didn't realise until recently what a rich Roman history the country has.
Would love to visit Belgrade again, will do summer next time.
You guys have a great chemistry. Both of you are uppity and neither is a debbie downer.
You cant say that you have been to the Balkans if gipsys have never stopped you and asked you for money
Andrej Kokunesoski you can get that in Italy.
@@BothSidesareCorrupt In Portugal especially in Porto too
Zastava is yugo. When Tito needed to pay back the US he made Zastava Yugo but in the US it was known as Yugo by Yugo. Zastava stopped making cars in 2008. They are also a gun manufacturer. Zastava arms.
3:05 That is danube(Dunav) river!keep up with videos!
for reference that kilo of strawberry cost bald, in us currency, less than 2 dollars. likely grown locally fresh without pesticides.
Hotel JUGOSLAVIJA opened in 1969!
Nice to see Bald on someone else's channel. Big fan of the man. #DCTraveler
13:40 It's a Yugo Koral from Zastava factory so yepp its a yugo nostalgic car......
Zastava is a brand & Yugo is a model of car, produced by Zastava. Koral is a version of Yugo, with other notable cars such as Zastava 101, Zastava 750 & Zastava 128
It Can't be the best hotel in the world until "Harold Approves!"
It's like Bald has gone all upmarket and gotten his own film crew.
I take it you can just go to serbia without much trouble then? Serbian buddy of mine lives in Belgrade and I have been meaning to come visit and explore the country
Yeah our borders are already open for people to come, there is still a bit of virus left it has basically subsided. Just a few days ago we tested 4k+ people and there was only 18 positive case but the number has been dropping from day to day.
Yes Belgrade has largely returned to normal now; bars, cafes, restaurants are mostly open. Also the Splavs(river boat clubs) are opening.
Serbia is my favourite country in the Balkans. I had a great time there.
Is mr. Bald in a hospital in Belgrade? Is there a way we could help him out if he is here?
He's doing well, I have been sending deliveries up to the hospital. Thanks for the offer though, very good of you.
@@TallTravels Thanks a lot for the update, I'm so glad we he is ok and that we haven't killed him. Let me know if you need some help at bringing him back to full health!
@@TallTravels please do keep us updated if possible? Sending him prayers from the USA-
Tall Travels I wonder if he is having flashbacks of when he got sick in India! Hopefully this doesn’t ruin his opinion of Serbia and, like India, he wants to return when he’s well again and this is over
@@TallTravels great. Many thanks to you @Tall Travels
Yay! Another cool channel to follow.. it popped into my feed, it must be because follow Bald and Bankrupt it “suggested” your channel.
Btw Tito's Partizan name was Walter and that place where you ate at is most likely named because of him.
