Phytoestrogens and Endocrine Disrupting Chemicals (EDCs)

Homeostatic regulation is critical for ensuring the functionality of the human body. Endocrine disrupting chemicals (EDCs) interfere with this process. Since there are many types of EDCs, compounds such as dioxins are indisputably associated with a myriad of health outcomes, while others are debated upon heavily, such as phytoestrogens. This video will discuss isoflavones, which are considered to be among the most estrogenic phytoestrogens, to answer the question of whether isoflavones are truly endocrine disruptors.
