Honda NC750S | Review - Not sure about this one :(

  • I took out this Honda from a main Honda dealer. The bike was seriously buggered up from what looks like a small crash. How on earth does a dealer give somebody a bike to test in this condition?
    Oh well. It still has its virtues and its tricks and it actually pretty cheap.

    My NC is great, such a versatile bike, jack of all.
    Nippy enough around town or load it up with givi boxes all round and head off (went on a seven month jaunt with mine) and nae bother getting parts as and when.
    It may not inspire joy, but loyalty and trust go a looong way.

      Yeah, a legendary commuter bike now and certainly capable of long distances in reasonable comfort. These now do well on the second hand market due to their practicality.

    I have this bike and I can tell you it is not slow nor boring. However you need to be mature enough to appreciate its quality and value. I challenge anyone with a Versys, Cb650,a Z650 and the lot to get away from me, good luck to you.
    Believe it or not there are riders out there that are completely satisfied and don't feel embarrassed to own and love a 54 hp bike. And yes I've been riding on and off for 40 years anything from a 70cc Honda to a Z1000. I am not saying there aren't bike that will outperform the NC750S, however this bike will give you hundreds of thousands of trouble free miles for next to nothing. Go and get a valve adjustment done for a four cylinder in line and see how much the dealer charges you, the NC750S adjustment is so easy you don't need a dealership. And that's just one of many reasons.
    By the way I own both a NC700S, 2013 with now 91000 km, and a 2014 NC750S with 16000 km best bang for the buck bikes out there, versatile, low cost,great fun.
    Thanks HONDA 👍🏍❤

      Not sure you can out accelerate a versys 650, it has good low down pull being a parallel twin and will take you to 60 in under 5 seconds up to gear 2 or 3.

    • @Herzankerkreuz67
      @Herzankerkreuz67 5 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @@EinkOLED
      Well, the Honda is also a parallel twin, also the Versys has a max torque of 64 at 7000 rpm whereas the Honda has 68 at already 4740 rpm. Just saying.....
      I had both and I take the Honda over the Versys anyday and twice on Sundays.
      Safe rides and travels 🏍👍

    • @EinkOLED
      @EinkOLED 5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@Herzankerkreuz67 I've ridden both and got the impression the NC750 was slower at accelerating, maybe due to the lower rev limit since it half a honda jazz engine. Anyway, it's a shame you feel that way about the versys, it is a very fun bike to ride with good suspension travel, my only criticism is the viby engine and prone to rust in places. However, both are well built quality bikes with similar purposes, but I think the honda is slightly more reliable and practical. Ride Safe

    • @Herzankerkreuz67
      @Herzankerkreuz67 5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@EinkOLED
      One other reason I do prefer the Honda lies in the fact that the Honda carries almost double the amount of oil in the motor. The Versys only holds only two quarts....
      I am a firm believer that oil is the key to engine longevity, the more the better and also the more frequent the oil changes occur the better.
      I had the Versys 650 for a little over a year, not a bad bike and yes 'she's' comfortable. However I have made such good experiences with the two Honda's the NC700S and the NC750S that I might be too biased by now.....😬
      I just posted that comment on acceleration because many think the NC bikes are slow, which is just not true. However I do admit that there are also many faster bikes in the 650 to 750 range.
      However the NC bikes are an extremely good compromise between durability, user friendliness and easy of maintenance. Just to throw one more fact in ....the Versys has shims ( expensive and the overhead camshaft has to be removed) the Honda has just simply adjustment screws and valve clearance job is a piece of cake. Takes literally not longer than to brew a good coffee 👍

    The bike seems to be realatively 'boring' but mostly that is because it is so capable. A real workhorse. It can get exciting when pushed but this is a bike meant for couriers and professional riders requiring a stable, robust and practical bike with no dramas.

    Anyone considering an NC should take a long test ride - they certainly grow on you.
    Just surf all that strong torque from 1600 revs up - it means you don't need to rev the nuts off it (you can't anyway).
    Once you've adjusted there's plenty of performance, and fun, to be had.

    • @RevMonkey

    That is my first bike. It is not a racebike, but for sure you can have fun on it and the power is enough to leave street legal speeds in a blink of an eye.
    I love to ride it on twistie small roads, and yes I also use it for commuting where it shines.Put a laptop in the trunk, the helmet when you leave...
    For small beginner riders however it could weight 20-30kg less... while you do not feel the weight riding, you will feel it when you have to push it in a dense lot.
