This is so true. I brought something to someone and felt horrible afterwards but he had to know how I felt about what he was doing. I thought it was over. I mean, some people can’t handle the truth when it’s brought to them. He didn’t back down. He looked within himself and afterwards apologized. I had nothing to say after that because he considered how I felt and he told me how his pride told him to do something different but he chose not to because it wasn’t fair to me. THAT is connection. I have apologized to him too in the past. We can laugh off our behavior so easily …….. this is healthy. Gaslighting, deflecting and never taking accountability for your own actions is NOT healthy.

My mother always said "NO two people are in Love to the same degree at the same time". THIS is what she actually meant. There will always be one who is connected to and one who is attached, for a variety of reasons as Stephen rightly says. I think it is REALLY important to grow together, giving each other enough Grace, to BE themselves. When this occurs, you foster a much deeper connection.

There’s such a thing as a secure attachment and there’s also times that opposite attachment styles attract each other and if aware can help each other become or develop secure attachment.
The second thing I’m wondering is the following: can connection solely exist on its own without developing and attachment? And vice versa, can attachment exist without connection.

This may well be true, however some people spend a lifetime with an individual they were initially "connected to" while claiming to be "Finding themselves" and when they do they go off and connect with another person with little regard to the investment the other person made in them over the years. I've seen too many damaged people who enter relationships with whole individuals, offload their trauma then want to move onto a whole other person/spirit with a claim that they are now attracted to this new person's spirit, leaving partner no 1 damaged and broken.
