    Hey man, this was an awesome video. It’s amazing seeing these reels being put to work like that with those big fish. How has the reel held up since then? I’ve been thinking about getting either this or the Saltiga in the 5k size for large snook. I find myself wanting the Certate more because the design is so flawless.

      @@ScottMikles Its good. I paired it with Gomoku Kaiten Elite Jigging rod, managed to caught 6 amberjacks 5-6kg each within one night.

      Nice. Yeah, they're brilliant reels. Ever fish the smaller LT Certate? I've got a 2500 that's a pure joy to fish with.

      I have a 6000XH and love this reel too. Might consider a 2000LT mate although I do have an older model 2500 Certate and still running smooth as butter after using it for over 10 years 👍🏼

      @ScottMikles  ปีที่แล้ว

      @yakoobjunior9631 10 years and going strong, nice. I've got the 6000 as well. That 6000XH hits a sweet spot for sure. You won't be disappointed with 2500LT if you ever have to update.

    Would you use the 10000 for surf fishing or is this just overkill for surf fishing?

    • @ScottMikles
      @ScottMikles  8 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      A reel with this much line capacity and drag is bordering on overkill for that unless you want to target sharks, then it's a great option. A smaller model like a 6000 will keep it more sporty for anything besides sharks.

    • @311hitwall
      @311hitwall 8 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@ScottMikles The reason I was thinking of the 10K size is due to the mono capacity. I probably can't sling a surf rod a 100 yards but still the smaller reels so even if I could that would leave about 170 yards. I guess that would be enough. What does the D-H stand for on the 6K? I noticed the 10K doesn't have a D

    • @ScottMikles
      @ScottMikles  8 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @311hitwall Deep spool, High Gear. You will have much less capacity with mono, so bigger size may be the move.

      I was also looking at the Saltist and it must be a mistake on the Daiwa site. The 14k for the Saltist shows that it weighs less than the 10k??

    if you only gonna be using it fir vertical jigging you woukd have been better off with the power low speed model. Extra high speed is only good for shore jigging and plugging!

    • @ScottMikles
      @ScottMikles  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      It will be used for plugging, popping, and other lures mainly. I definitely got the model I wanted. I have a Saltiga on a jigging rod, that's my designated vertical jigging setup

    Can you do the service by yourself or you have to send it to daiwa bcs of hes magnetic oil

    • @ScottMikles
      @ScottMikles  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      I believe you can do it yourself but you need to buy the magnetic oil and it isn't cheap. If you rinse your reels after saltwater use they don't require servicing for a long time.

    Having used both the Saltiga and the Certate , do you feel that paying so much more for the saltiga is worth it?

    • @ScottMikles
      @ScottMikles  3 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      As far as the feel and capability, they seem to perform the same. The bearing count and a piece that's aluminum on the Saltiga and zinc on the Certate are two of the only differences. That being said, the novelty of owning a Saltiga is worth it for me. As far as performance they're right with each other. The Saltiga having some more aluminum and bearings makes it only a shade more durable in my opinion.
