      I feel like that happends because games tend to do that, for example, when a game wont let you jump over a few crates piled up despite your character jumping high enough to surpass it or normal human enemies taking multiple headshots to die, that sort of stuff

    Under ideal conditions this might be feasible. But better to use such calm situations to practice your vent aim, because in the heat of a high difficulty battle, waiting those extra seconds for the door to open can be the deciding factor between life and death. 👍

    I can see people hitting the robot that pops out by accident, the vents are more consistent, and you can even snipe them with the autocannon as the round will bounce off the lip down into the hole.

      Much safer to run a shield and shoot into the door with an Anti-Material rifle, high difficulty without a shield is very risky because of the high amount of stray one-shot rockets and one shot cannons.

    I actually did this before the vents and didn't realise you could do the vents myslf. But I find the vents more consistent

      Same, thought the door was exactly the same process as the holes (aka, literally the entrance). Hate waiting for the door to open and frankly the grenade launcher demolishes bots in most cases unless a tank or hulk happens to have the high ground above you, but as long as you have good positioning you can destroy bots all day with the GL and bases especially with a supply pack. Don't sleep on it, just be in front of the building and destroy the building before the fight even starts.

      impact granade honestly is too inconvenient to use. Yes it allows you to kill tanks by throwing at the vent. But that its only real usefulness. You cant destroy bug holes with it. You need to wait for fabricator door to open. meh.

    I love that the Autocannon keeps getting pointed out, it feels like the Autocannon and the anti-material rifle are both really allowed to shine when facing against the Automatons.
    I'm also very partial to the disposable rocket launcher since it (with upgrades) has only a 63 second cooldown, but Jammers make it a harder sell than those two weapons.

      The Anti Material Rifle is my go to against bots. Can take them all exept for tanks. Normal grenades for the factories and lov them trough the vent (so you don't have to stand around and wait) sneak, lob, run. Pick off guards with the rifle.

      Autocannon is my all time favourite support weapon and in my opinion the best one (basically AMR but with more damage, more bullets and easier handling because scope is not necessary). But rn I prefer to use Quasar bc I got bored only loading Autocannon every single time and with Quasar you have more possibilities bc of no backpack. Stalwart, DAT and ARL are also quite fun. Railgun is pure joke not worthy of stratagem space.

    The autocannon *is* great, but you have to aim it right. You can fire into the open door, but if you don't want to wait for that you can hit the vents.
    However, the trick is that the shot has to *ricochet down into* the fabricator. Just shooting the vent itself won't work. So you need to be more or less facing the vent directly and you need to aim at the raised vent cover ABOVE the vent opening and not into the vent opening itself. (Took me awhile to realize why my autocannon shots weren't working)
    For me, I try to make sure I'm kneeling and am in first-person mode to help with the aiming and weapon sway.

      nah dude, a wide open door is an easy target, a small vent isn't. I play on difficulty 9, i aim for open doors 100% of the time even with a small horde behind me

      @@sneakydragon2352Depends on the situation vents are easy because you can just lob a grenade over the wall and into the vent but if you've got the time to go into the base and throw a grenade at the door then you'd do that otherwise just throw and run or...call in a 50kg eagle strike and be done with it lol

Now if you tell me "The door is closed, i'll just lob it through the vent" - Yeah, that's the correct play, but as soon as that door opens you just gained an extra option and it's up to you to choose correctly

    I did this by accident when I shot one of the robots with a jump pack coming out of the fabricator. The jump pack blew up and then the fabricator did. I was confused at first, until I realized what had actually happened.

    this is probably well known by now BUT the vent is always open and easy to throw a nade into it usually faster to get it in rather then waiting for the door to open

    It is a nice tip but the vent is quite a stable way when I find the sweetspot to throw the impact gernades and hardly miss. The door has its own risk of having a bot charging to the thrower and block the gernade (which is very dangerous when using impact).

    I am aware of both methods but still prefer the vents since I use default names. Just lob one in while running past them, whereas with the door method, you have to wait for it to open. Somebody said you can use a slugger shotgun or punisher shotgun to blow the door open but have not tested it yet.

    The problem is that when the game first launch, the doors glitch to have an invisible wall. Which is why I got used to using the vents. Though I was reminded again when earlier that invisible wall was covering both vents instead.

    I still aim for the vents because this can be hard to manage under fire. You can certainly do this in a calm. But in a high tension situation, practicing the eruptor/autocannon vent sweep gives you more consistency.

    It doesn't seem to work sometimes. I use the short fuse grenades. So I found it more reliable to go for the vents.

    One problem with doors vs vents: the vents are always open. You don't need to wait half a minute for the door to re-open, only for your impact grenade to accidentally hit the Automaton(s) walking out. Additionally you can ricochet Autocannon rounds off the vents from extreme range to get the same effect. If you're particularly skilled you can also use the EAT, Recoilless Rifle or Quasar Cannon into the vents.

    The autocannon can be used on the vents at the right angle as they will ricochet in the vent and blow up the fabricator. You can safely blow up fabricators from a distance without ever entering the base with some practice while using the autocannon.

    I figured this out pretty early on once I started using impact. I figured there’s gotta be a way you can effectively use impact to destroy fabricators. Usually I’m too impatient to wait though and just throw a resupply into the vent or something lol

    I mastered the impact grenade toss into the vent. Here's how to do it: stand about 5 meters away from the fabricator (essentially at the border of where the blast from it blowing up won't send you flying). Then, aim your crosshair (dot) at the bottom frame of the vent. Since the grenade's path is a lobbed throw, the impact grenade will go in just enough to trigger the fabricator's destruction.

    This is how I blew up my first fabricator, actually.
    Then on the second I got tired of waiting and thought - huh, these vents look convenient XD
    Vents can also be hit from over the fence, which can frequently be the best opener for a base assault.
    Also, remember, while aiming guns when using a jump pack is pretty much infeasible, grenades still work just fine~
    Nailed some really nice vent throws mid jump.

    I gave up on using Impact nades (You have to angle just right), then a pain, waiting for the doors to open. Switched back to standard grenades and I can quickly throw into the vent (even from good distant) without waiting for doors to open. Impact nades still great for clearing light crowds. I still want to try out the Quasar cannon on the fabricator chutes as well, seems effective too

    if you’re close enough to aim for the door you’re close enough to hit the vent.
    there’s this weird thing where you have to be within a certain distance for the door to ACTUALLY be open but you can just Kobe the grenade from wherever. Plus robots can come out and block those Grenades if the timing is wrong

    Honestly whether I throw in the door, or in the vent I choose depending on the circumstances:
    Distance - If I am absurdly close like this, yeah go for the door because it's harder to arc the grenade at this distance. Though if you're this close, it's very easy to blow yourself up on a bot. However if I'm at a far distance, I generally prefer the vents since you just aim slightly below and it goes in consistently once you get used to it.
    Amount of bots - usually not a problem, but every now and then there's just an entire squad in front of the door. You can arc it over their heads, but it's a bit on the rare side, but you never have to deal with that going for the vent.
    Timing of the door - This is the main reason why I don't go for the door anymore. Very often you'll be shot from the bot that just spawned, or it closes as the grenade is going to the door.
    What angle I'm approaching the fabricator - Door is definitely easier to get from the side since the bots do walk forward a bit, but unfortunately it's a specific angle since there's things that jut out from the sides.
    Honestly, I'm happy that it's like this. It's just best to go with whatever you feel comfortable with at the time, and it keeps the game feeling a bit more fresh.
    Using the spear is still my favorite way to take out fabricators... You're just artillery sniping bases from a ludicrous distance. Too bad the spear's lack of ammo makes it such a terrible weapon at higher difficulties because there's just so many enemies at higher difficulties (especially if you're not being stealthy).
    When mechs come out, that'll basically tie for my favorite way to take out fabricators because I'm addicted to mechs. Saw some leaked footage of someone struggling to get the right shot on the vents until they finally nailed the shot. Though with how many rockets, turrets, artillery, and heavy armored units on bots, I'm not feeling too confident about the mech's viability on the higher difficulties. I can hope though!
    Eagles will be #3 favorite way. Yay explosions, and everything is dead.
    Grenades are #4 since I don't care about throwing nades on buildings, but I do love that I feel like I have to make decisions on how I want to approach and throw the nade safely.

    maybe on lower difficulties sure.
    just practice getting nades into the vents and you'll have a much easier time with these. for impacts, i find it works best if i aim them to go in as close to the bottom of the vent as i can.
    if all else fails, just bring in something like the eagle air strike (NOT THE CLUSTER STRIKE) and drop one on a fabricator and walk away, problem solved. the cool down time between uses is really fast and even the rearming period is pretty quick. PLUS you can take out any nearby enemies and or structures if you need to.

    Just got this game, god what a throwback to the Starship Troopers days. I like the idea of a single fire team being dropped in, heres another idea:
    2 sides, both fighting against bugs, but each side has 1-2 platoons of players and both sides have to compete to reach the objectives first. Whoever finishes all the objectives before the other side does wins and gets to evacuate.
    Both teams fight endless waves, progressively getting harder and harder whilst trying to complete the objectives; sort of like a horde mode. But you fight quite literally thousands of bugs. Just like the Starship Troopers.

    Usually it's easy to chuck a nade in the vents from great distances though. This would mostly be handy if your in the middle of a fight in one.

    The automaton fabricators are also special in that they can be aimed at by the railgun strike as well as the SPEAR. (Note also that the railgun will prioritize the fabricators even over tanks, so be wary.)

    I’ve actually found if you are using impact grenades you just need to aim slightly below the vent to get it to blow up the fabricator. It works every time.

    For throwing impacts into the vents, stand about diving distance and a half away from the fabricator and center the aiming circle on the lower lip of the vent, then throw. Should go in every time.

    Considering that the door attack is about as reliable as getting a cone from mcdonalds, christmas festivities will continue throughout the war with bots getting a fucking bomb in their chimneys as long as this holly jolly helldiver can help it. Occasionally yes the front door is an option lol

    Definitely using this, I’m always taking impact grenades but they’re a nightmare for these buildings and bug holes 😂 only work half of the time

    I'm a Contact Greanade person, it's very stupid hard to consistently hit the vents, same with the Autocannon, it's very difficult to get a good angle and the Ricochet is very unruly. Door seems like a better option overall, if no airstrikes are available.

    Even if you aim at the vents, if you're using impact grenades, just aim slightly below the vents. This works for bug holes too.

    Oh this is great! I usually just switched to the incindieary or default ones. Sometimes the skyscraper laser pointer is my go to for auto bots.

    You will have to wait for it open. On higher difficulty, standing there waiting means more drop ships coming

    I knew you could do this, but I didn’t have impact grenades so it was harder to time , also what’s cool is that you can use the mech’s missiles on the vent and probably the door too

    I prefer holding the impact grenade in my mouth like an apple, rocket-jumping into the air, then diving directly down the vents while humming the main theme music. It's not practical, but it makes for some great news footage.

    One of my favorite things to do is when starting a mission/respawning, you can aim your drop pod on these and destroy them! Same goes for ships, maybe silos too?

    I tried this out on a whim the other day with an impact grenade and was rewarded with this knowledge then and there. Any explosive will do, including rockets from a distance as long as you put it through the open doorway

    There's no problem with aiming for the vents, it's simply another option, not only option. Using door is indeed a valid and working solution. Difference however is that vents are always available, so to say, while you need to wait until doors open. Which can take several seconds when the fabricator has just send out another batch, it has a cooldown. And in the heat of battle you often don't have time to stand there in front of the door, rub the grenade and wait for the door to open, when the vents are right there, always open, never blocked. Plus, seen many people blow themselves up because they throw grenade into open door just as the bot comes out. Grenade hits the bot, bounces back and boom. Only thing that got blown up was the Helldiver.
    So, yeah. It's an option and it works quite well, but it's also situational. Use whichever is available to you. Only thing what matters in the end is that the factory must go.

    If you're close to the fabricator aim your reticle below the vent.
    You can hold the contact grenade as long as you want because it doesn't have a fuse time, so you can use the reticle to aim much more easily.

      Only catch from personal experience is that holding it out to aim is risky business, as there's been multiple times where it's been shot in my hands, sometimes wiping teammates as a result.

      @@norrecvizharan1177 you can also aim a weapon to line up the reticle if you don't want to hold the grenade itself, I was just saying that to point out that it's different from timed fuse grenades, not to say that it's the best way to aim them.

    Problem with this is that those doors take a EXCRUCIATINGLY long time to open along with bots just blocking your nades. In fact that's how I originally thought you destroyed the fabricators since you get introduced into destroying spawns with the bugs. It was only later I learned to aim for the vents. Better to just aim for the vents or use the autocannon

    Or, you know... Just use the Autocannon, fire it at the vent shutter and let it ricochet downwards due to the angle of said shutter. That also works. Though you have to be in front of the fabricator, but I DO believe that stuff works from distance as well...

    Enabling the always on crosshair also makes it extremely easy. Just point at the middle of the vent and toss.

    The problem is you'll be standing there holding a grenade under fire while your team gets torn to pieces waiting for the door to open. I always have airstrikes or autocannon just for this situation.
    For those that don't know. If you aim the autocannon at the center of the top of the inside of the vent at around a 30 degree or less angle you can deflect the shot down into the fabricator.

    The vents are always available for attack at any time, whilst the door has a small window of being vulnerable and needs to be timed, there's also the risk of the grenade bouncing off the bot that comes out of it.

    fun fact, sometimes a robot with one of those exploding jetpacks will walk out, if you shoot them in the doorway they'll fall back into the fabricator and explode it

    You can sometimes wait for a long time if theres no bots coming out so you can also aim on the low part of the vents. Just gotta find the sweetspot

    You can shoot the autogun into the door or vents to destroy the fabricators. Also works on bug holes

    i thought i had tried this before to no effect, though i was likely not using impact. ill keep this in mind going forward, and i can agree with the autocannon! perfect for clearing factories. for the vents, just arc it inside, easy with a straight shot. good luck to everyone on the front!

    I actually did a bot mission recently and I only ever before destroyed the fabricators with stratagems but this time I had an impact and decided to just throw it in the door since it was open. I guess I didn’t assume it was something that obviously worked as I’ve heard before impact users have a hard time with them but I just gave it a try and from then on I’ve never struggled to destroy them.

    Quasar cannon also take out fabricators quite well. Just aim for the bottom of the square vent.

    Everyone using impact grenades, that is why you aren’t hitting the vents properly. Grenades bounce down in, normally. It’s why people don’t use the grenade launcher on them either
