I swore once at a kid nonchalantly like two years ago for being a disturbance to the class and overall obnoxious when I used to be in school and everybody shit themselves over it and made a big deal out of it. At the time though, people were wearing masks still (2021/2022) and because of that and the fact that I'm so quiet, nobody could trace the voice back to me because I just simply don't speak.

Doesn't sound stupid. Masks kind of force the viewer to focus on the character's eyes but rarely have I seen so much conveyed by eye movement as the makers of this did with Ghost. It's no wonder it's resulted in so many memes. And everybody may interpret different things from his eyes. There's definitely a hint of sadness at times but I think he's simply resigned to the grim reality of his life and the world around him. My favourite is the look he exchanges with Soap after they realize Graves' betrayal. They both knew shit was about to go down and readied themselves for it.
I mean for a character with a mask, it was great of them to go in with these details. Especially since the only way we can tell what Ghost is mainly feeling is through the tone of his voice, plus his eye’s constant movement.

I think he is just stressed out and really tired most of the time. Based on his conversation with everyone, it is heavily implied that he has trust issues. And people with trust issues tend be extremely alert (especially when your "friends" have guns) and that will take a huge toll on everyone in that situation

The scene where Ghost risks his life to drag Roach to safety, just before the Gen Shepherd betrayal, the sub base scene where the nuke is launched etc.
@@needserotonin5373 Those are moments any other supporting soldier would do. Ghost was following Soap's lead & Roach was doing most of the work in the safehouse based on how I was playing. The sub-base, he is just yelling at Price who was about to do something that's trully bad-ass.
I'm talking bad-ass moments like Soap saving Roach's life on the cliff, knife a guy single-handedly, taking out an enemy with an axe on a snowmobile on foot or catching an enemy by busting out through a window then crashing on a car.
Ghost dragging Roach to save his life does count though.

TL;DR The mask really doesn't have anything to do with it.
Soap and Ghost at the time are on two different levels. For Simon Riley, Soap is just another number to babysit on the mission. This is (from what I've seen) pretty typical of how experienced NCOs feel about a brand new LT from ROTC or Westpoint coming in as their platoon leader (for the US, not sure internationally). As the two work together, they find a groove that fits best for both of them through the actual shit they do together, they earn each other's respect and by the end of it, you just have an upgrade to an already well oiled machine.

The banter between soap and ghost in the alone mission may honestly be my favorite thing. After being betrayed by graves, soap aid shot and they’re both lost trying to find get back to eachother they still somehow joke around like they aren’t in a shitty situation
Pretty sure it's a psychological trick. By pretending nothing is wrong and everything is fine it keeps them from breaking so they can focus on the mission.

Thanks to Ghost's expressiveness mainly being conveyed through his eyes, I've noticed that the attention to detail they put into character's faces goes as far as even making their pupils dilate in different lighting. In night vision mission cutscenes, Ghost's pupils are blown wide due to the dim lighting, but in cutscenes where they're in a lit room or out during daylight, his pupils are much smaller. It's just a small thing, but I think it's actually super cool they even considered that when animating those scenes.

Soap was a Captain in the OG, holding an officer’s rank, meaning he had a commission from the military. In this one he’s a Sargent meaning he’s a non commissioned member. So Soap calls Ghost, a Lieutenant, which is a commissioned officer, sir, as per military standards literally everywhere.
