  • Join me on a trip to hike and tour the Italian Volcano of Mount Vesuvius outside of Naples, Italy. This top tourist destination in Italy is best known for having erupted in 79AD to cover the cities of Pompeii and Herculaneum. Now, the ruins of these demolished ancient towns sit for visitors to tour and experience. There are many tours to Pompeii combined with tours to Mount Vesuvius available, most leave out of Rome, Naples or Sorento.
    Visit my blog AMae.TV for more information on how we completed this tour of Mount Vesuvius by driving from Naples. Italy.

    flexmode. Yeah you can do both in one day if u start early. There is a whole lot to see in Pompeii and alot of walking , wear comfortable shoes . Herculean is also a very interesting place. I recommend going to Pompeii first

    So, if u were to go there by private car, do u leave the car at a specific carpark at or near the base, then take a special bus up to the walking track start point? Is that the procedure, and how much is that bus in Euro's? I'm assuming u get given an hour and a half to complete everything, yeah?

    • @AMAETV
      @AMAETV  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      You can actually drive right up and park along the side of the street then walk to the starting point. The busses are usually private tour busses so it depends on what you book.

    I'll be visting Naples as a port stop on a cruise. Was planning on visiting Pompeii and hiking the mountain same day. Is this tour doable considering time and distance? Thanks and great vid!

    • @AMAETV
      @AMAETV  9 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      +flexmode17 Absolutely! I'd lean towards more time on the Pompeii part, but you could easily do both in one day. Are you planning to take a formal tour or do it yourself from the train station? I wish I had the Pompeii video finished for you to see the train option.. I do know there are many formal tours that do both in one day.

    Is it a 20 min walk or are you meant to take a tour to a place halfway up and then is it 20 mins?

    • @AMAETV
      @AMAETV  8 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      There isn't really a tour, rather just a few signs you can read with info about the volcano, and a place to buy drinks and snacks. You can book a tour from a tour guide and they will essentially drive you there and likely lead a tour for you. But it's ok to go on your own too.. I think this place is more about the views and seeing the natural formation of the volcano, and Pompeii is more about learning everything that happened with the eruption. So overall it's about 20 min to walk straight up (maybe 30 if you're aren't super fast) then you might spend 20 minutes hanging out at the top, and another 30 coming down. So round up to 2 hours minimum to visit it... although others might suggest a bit more time :)

    When I went to Vesuvius during a school trip, some of my classmates tried to 'disturb' the volcano, hoping to making it erupt, with no success, of course.

    • @VesuviusGaming-um5yn
      @VesuviusGaming-um5yn 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Alice Sacco it’s only Erupts when tremors move so you don’t have to worry about it

  • @alicesacco9329
    @alicesacco9329 6 ปีที่แล้ว

    It seems that Vesuvius is part of Phlegreaen Fields according to the last studies (Vesuvius, P.F. and Ischia share the same magma chamber), and this turns it in a even more dangerous volcano.

    • @AMAETV
      @AMAETV  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Interesting! I do fear the day Vesuvius erupts.. although I don't live there anymore.

    • @alicesacco9329
      @alicesacco9329 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Vesuvius is a stratovolcano. Probably the volcano type/structure helps to contain the eruption force, even if is a part of a supervolcano. But it can still reach VEI 6 strength.

    It doesn't erupt every 20 years. The time it erupted was in 1944 and it's 2017 now so been about 73 years. However it's still an active volcano and it's due for an eruption.

    • @nvm0
      @nvm0 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      that's what I'm worried about. It WILL blow up sooner or later and it's not gonna be weak for sure

    Oh so you don't have to take a tour to do this? just go in your own ? if one has no car I wonder how to get to the where you start hiking

    • @AMAETV
      @AMAETV  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yep! No tour necessary. I think most people do the tour simply because they don't have a car to get there. But it's really just like visiting any other state park if you do (sorry for the late reply :)

    Uhhhhhhhhh Mt Vesuvius isn't the most dangerous volcano in the world that goes to the many Supervolcanoes around the world. In fact you while in Naples are inside a active Supervolcano Campi Flegrei and as of recently it is getting really restless and approaching a dangerous line that potentially could cause a full on eruption.

    • @AMAETV
      @AMAETV  7 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      I know, it sounds like a strange statistic, but it's considered 'most dangerous' due to the super high concentration of people living around it. Hopefully Napoli and surrounding areas stay safe if anything should erupt!

    • @mratsfrailfan1894
      @mratsfrailfan1894 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      The supervolcanos are dangerous but not to entirely as Vesuvius is the super volcanos won’t erupt in anyone here’s lifetime bother might not even erupt in any of our kids lifetimes
