Hi Sir. Thank you for the clear explanation! I got this in my basic statistics class,,,but it was 2 semesters ago,,,en even w my notes I still get confused sometimes. Yet your SPSS series is really2 a life savor! I'm more confident doing my analysis now. :)

@@TheConceptsbyDrAtifBilal I have a question Sir. Let's say I just want to use 2 variables from this data set. I want to make a methodelogical note in my syntax. The books I read teaches how to filter cases but..or merge data (merge data, from Predictive HR Analytics book by Edwards&Edwards, page50-52: Data=> Merge Files=> Add Variables => select a data set to merge w the active data set) => Continue => then I can select the variables and click Paste so this step will be noted in my Syntax.
But, let's say I want to make a new data from your data set (so not merging). For example, my friends and I do a project together, we share it on qualtrics. But my individual report does not discuss/include the 1st variable (eg. F1 to F7 of your data set here). So... I do not want to include the 1st variable (your 7 items), how to do that without deleting 7 columns manually?
Apologize for asking, but I've checked on youtube as well..I didn't actually find a complete answer to this. I came as far as understanding filter case..

@@jalan2dibelanda997 As long as I understood your question, I think you can copy-paste the data in other columns and deal with it or make new sheet of SPSS or Excel for a new data set.

@@TheConceptsbyDrAtifBilal Thank you for the reply Sir! I have just finished with collecting my data. Now I have been trying to analyze my results. I used Qualtrics to distribute the questions Sir.
I have a question...I had to do factor analysis Sir before checking Cronbach’s alpha.
I had like 40 questions. En 20 of them measuring a latent variable: HR practices. Using direct oblimin en eigenvalue 1, I had 4 components Sir above eigenvalue of 1.
My lecturer said force it into 1 factor. My question is...does it mean I should tick "Fixed number factor" and type 1?
I did that, though I was not sure if that was right.
The KMO is marvelous en significant. Then 1 item out of 20 is below .30 ...so I should delete that particular question right?
I'm not really sure whether I'm doing this correctly or not. Hopefully you could enlight me. Thank you Sir!🙏

You do not need to check reliability. Just take the frequency and see the results. Or run cross tabs for more detailed results.

Sir if the whole analysis is done with all the items but reliability of one scale is low so can we just state that if two items are removed then the reliability becomes higher?
Also sir Perry, R. H., Charlotte, B., Isabella, M., & Bob, C. (2004) state that .50 to.70 show moderate reliability. Please advise according to all this information and what best way we should go forward.

Hi Dr Atif, thank you so much for this video. Based on your table on Cronbach Alpha, 0.6 - 0.7 means questionable. After testing the reliability, I got 1 independent variable with a Cronbach's Alpha of 0.613 (Cronbach's alpha, if the item is deleted, is showing 0.662, 0.708, 0.314 and 0.343) whereas another 1 independent variable with a Cronbach's Alpha of 0.684 (Cronbach's alpha if the item is deleted is showing 0.662, 0.612, 0.693 and 0.473). What should I do? Does that mean these 2 independent variables' questions (4 questions for each variable) are questionable/non-reliable? Does that mean I have to state "Rejected" in my reliability testing for both independent variables? Please advise. Thank you.

See if you can increase the sample size. Sometimes the alpha improves with that. Other option is to delete an item to improve it.
Otherwise, no worries, anything above 0.6 is also acceptable according to some researchers.
When you are writing an interpretation of reliability give a reference of Umer Sakaran's book.

hello sir, I have watched your videos to check reliability and validity. i manually calculated the composite reliability and it is above 0.99 for 2 variable. is it okay? because i read somewhere values greater than 0.95 are also not considered ideal. Pls reply i really need help. Thanks & regards

    • @TheConceptsbyDrAtifBilal

It is acceptable, but it will give you problems with factor loadings, as it is not very high.
